Hello Maryada Forum:

I know its a day late, but here's my view on
Monday's episode. I would love to read yours too so feel free to disagree...or agree. 😆

*******************************************

Episode 16:

So this week started with Imli spiking Vidya's drink and all the ladies dancing unrestrained in total abandon under the influence of alcohol. While the men are dancing downstairs, Aditya decides to check out the women's party but ends up dreaming of Priya. Now...I realize this is a Hindi series and that for ratings to grow, a dance every so often between the lead pair is pretty much the norm. This reality of the television business made me overlook my misgivings about the fact that Aditya & Priya's relationship has not reached the point where a slow song dream makes sense. Even with that set aside, the dance, as shown, broke the rhythm of the sequence it was inserted in. Had Aditya started dancing with the women and imagined one of them as Priya, the screenplay would have had a far smoother flow. Granted, this is a done to death way of showing a lead character's imagination, but it would at least not have been a tempo buster!

Meanwhile, Rishabh, as expected, creates a furor while in a drunken state. It remains to be seen if his taunts about Bramhanand's so called power were merely empty words or based on some deeper knowledge. In any case, it made me wonder what the root cause of the apparent hatred between the two was. Does it have anything to do with the accident that crippled and changed Rishabh forever or was it merely based on professional jealousy as Aditya's character seems to think? It is also clear that Rishabh recognizes that Uttara admires her jijaji but more interestingly, it is only Devyani's interference that he responds to. I hope the writers show some of the context for Rishabh's respect for Devyani in the future screenplays of the series.

Moving on then to what was the most interesting part of the episode'the conversation between Devyani & Gaurav. It not only directly hinted at issues between father & son, it also revealed a relationship dynamic between Devyani & Bramhanand. And'as predicted by Gaurav, Bramhanand blames Devyani for the spectacle created by Rishabh. Bramhanand's verbal abuse provided some basis for Devyani's reaction to what is happening in Uttara's life. Devyani manages her husband's abuse by running as perfect a home as possible and not letting anything affect that. Given this, it is not surprising that she thinks managing Rishabh's abuse is in Uttara's hands.

The episode closed with Aditya finding out that Priya lived in Ghaziabad.

From an overall perspective, I loved:

  • The acting in the episode which was fantastic. The actor who plays Rishabh was spectacular to watch.
  • I loved that the screenplay showed the carefree side of the women.

What did not work for me was:

  • The screenplay for the dream sequence.
  • Still find that Ishq Hai does not fit in well. It was better than the previous times though!
  • Why did Aditya & Gaurav not jump in to drag Rishabh away as he started on his tirade?
What do you think about what you saw?

Cheers,
Jaya

Aha.....now this makes for a wonderful read..!! 👏 and well i m totally at a loss to understand why neither Aditya or Gaurav tried to stop..counsel or drag Rishab out of the spectacle he had created..!! As for Devyani..it shows that her false pretenses run her world...maybe thats the sole comfort she has..the outerglow of an apparently perfect family..!!
In the acting department..Rishab-Uttara ....Aditya..happen to be my favourites at the moment in terms of performance...
As for the dream sequence ...well as u said urself.. TRP ke liye kuch to karna padega...n well me din mind it....considering how i drool on AdiYa these days..😳
Eagerly waiting for a jaldi se accidental punar milan of AdiYa!!

That was a fab write-up, Jaya!!! 👏
Even I thought that the guy playing Rishabh stole the episode with a powerful performance!
Somehow the feeling I got from the entire confrontation scene was that Rishab, despite his abusive and boorish behaviour, really loves Uttara and knows somewhere that Brahamanand's intention's regarding his wife are not good! Especially because Rishabh says that he knows why Brahamanand helped Rishabh get a job and why he interfers in his household affairs! (I am not justfying Rishabh in anyway, he is really a disgusting lowlife character)
Lolz...I liked the dream sequence between Aditya and Priya, only because Rakesh's expression's (till he got close to Riddhi) was very cute! I do agree that when such sequences come, it makes Aditya's character look a bit too childish and immature! His declarations of love to Priya can be attributed to the impulsiveness in his character, but imagining him dancing on a love ballad with Priya was taking it a bit too far! But as you said, these are the compulsions of television nowadays and as long as the main storyline is strong and dealt with seriously, these side-notes are enjoyed once in a while!
Cheers!

i loved your ananlysis and will be looking forward to it everyday... To begin with the episode was good.. I did like the adi-priya dream but i felt something was missing. Since you pointed out i agree it did seem out of place... Eventhough i still want romantic scenes between them and eagerly waiting for it😉
About Rishabh he is supposed to be the latest villan in the drama eventhough i liked the fact that he respects devyani. He is a terrific actor. The reason for him to hate SSP must be very strong... It could be that he knows his true colour but is unable to expose him..
The scene between Gaurav and his mom was nice. It shows that he is more concerned about his mom and knows his dad's reaction to what happened at the party. I still want to know why he doesnt get along with his dad. Is is because Gaurav doubts his father's character or is it something to do with his father's influence due to which he is not given a chance to stand on his feet and prove his worth?
Adi and his sister's talk was sweet. Truly speaking i wanted this scence of revealing priya's address a little later. I wanted Adi to struggle a little to find her and then get her address. Now since he knows where she lives i wont be surprised if the creatives get them married soon..
The reason why gaurav and adi did not interfere with Rishabh was i think due to their respect for their maasi. They share a sweet equation with their aunt. I know the show has just started and its too early to predict anything but even then I feel both of them are not like their father.. They see sensible and caring...
Devyani and Uttara's phone conversation shocked me. Also SSP blaming Devyani shows that their relationship is not what it seems to everyone...

@Tanu...thanks hon! Verbal abuse is a hard one...victims do not recognize it easily! The worst abusers are very subtle at how they slowly erode the confidence of their victim over time. I think Devyani knows how imperfect her world is...but if she did not make it perfect, she would
suffer more at Bramhanand's hands!

I know I know...😆....TRP ka zamana hai and this is a new series!

Accidental punar milan...??? 😆😆😆...Doubt you will have to wait very long for that what with Aditya now likely being on Mission Priya and Operation Ghaziabad! 😆😆

Thank you! May I call you Poppy?

Physical abuse and its causes are so complex. I think Imli said last week that Uttara
& Rishabh used to be crazily in love but that Rishabh changed after the accident. Rishabh clearly dislikes Bramhanand...you think he has indecent intentions towards Uttara? Not seeing that yet...but you could be right!

Agree with what you said about the dream sequence. I can live with many more such scenes as long as the surrounding story is being developed well...like it was on Monday. 😊

@Nish10...Thank you!
Rishabh's respect for Devyani is very interesting. Here's a guy who is abusive to his wife, hates his brother-in-law...but he calls Devyani Didi and listens to her. I can't wait to see what their back story...really hope it is shown.

Gaurav is a very interesting character and his dynamics with Brahmanand even more so.
When I caught up with the episodes last week, for a brief second, I even wondered if he was really the SSP's son but threw that away as nothing had been shown in the episodes to support that.

The precap phone call...to me...was in line with how Devyani handles the abuse meted out to her. Brahmanand told her she was not in control of Uttara or Rishabh so she is trying to fix that by putting distance between herself and Uttara.

Thanks for the lovely Analysis Darlunia (don't know your name)....
I also loved the carefree atmosphere where all ladies were diving and enjoying the Sinduri Raat function until it got ruined by Rishab for not getting more Alcohal...
I also think that Rishab knows the true color of Devyani's hubby so he hates him and on the top of that Devyani's hubby acts like a great responsible and respected guy and is deceiving his family and others around him OR like Adi said -he might be jelous of his dad's success and wealth... Who knows ...
Somehow I enjoy the dance sequence of Adi and Priya knowing how Adi is already dreaming od his own Sindoori Raat with her...For once seeing the Happy fo luck Priya was like a breath of fresh air...

Very nicely analyzed.....I especially agree about the dream sequence....things of that sort break my connect to the characters.....I was liking Aditya-Priya uptill their scenes from 2 weeks back when he saves her from her suicide attempt....but this dream sequence....wherein firstly I found Priya to be dressed very out of character....and if THIS is how he imagines her, then ummm.....chalo rehnde do...."hawtness" rules on Indian TV anyways*rolls eyes*....anyways the song always jars me.....it seems to burst out of nowhere in their scenes and didn't really work much for this dream dance sequence in my opinion either.....oh well. It remains to be seen what turn their relationship will take when they meet again.

And yes the actor playing Rishab did a very good job and that was a good confrontation/outburst scene b/w him and the SSP.....Gaurav was good in the epi as well.....

Hey J,

That was very aptly described! To me the thing that stood out was when Rishabh was shouting at Bramhanand, I felt his emotions were connected to his handicap and the way his life has turned out to be today and somehow how Bramhanand is related to that turn of his fate!! Else, I cannot quite understand where all that hatred stems from!!

Also, Rishabh's respect for Devyani!! Yes, that was worth watching. It felt like a slap to Bramhanand's face. To me that was worth watching. I am sure a lot of anger stems from that irritation itself, which Bramhanand shows later to Devyani!

I agree, Devyani's need to hush and sush everything is the reason why she feels Uttara should be able to handle her family problems like her!

Also, I strongly felt the Aditya-Priya dance was a little off the flow!! I dont know if it was the song or the fact that he just started imagining off record!

Overall, the episode was enjoyable!! 😉
