Subha thanks for appreciating my mytho knowledge. Actually it was EHT which made me start brush up my mytho knowledge but it is coming more handy in MK because with some knowledge of MB, Mahishasura Mardanam and Parvati's penance to get Shiva EHT could be cracked open. But MK is deep and has taken so much from Indian mytho as well as science that you yourself has dig into your knowledge and do some research to predict this funda correctly.

While Shyamala is right, that this is not logically and fully thought out, but I think there are enough indicators in the story about rudra becoming the Neelkanth, who will hold the poison within himself .
Well pointed out on the 'blue' symbolism, the other of course being as Shruthi reminded us Maimui's prediction for rudra and last being Rudras supreme sense of calm, and his words - I will not allow death to take Maya away...

Love will find a way or shall we say Rudra will find a way, and then realise that his powers have a larger use?

Is this also the story writers way of making Rudra a hero, guided by the force of love and not catapulted into it by hatred and anger?

If so, then RESPECT... For Utkarshji and Babbal ji!

@Arshics love is the only force that makes the lasting change. It only has the power to give you real victory. If you look MB look at the trust Arjuna kept on Krishna. He was fine with just having a weaponless Krishna with him. He trusted him enough and the Lord came as his Charioteer. He took the reins of Arjun's battle in his handle. If you see the war the highlight of the victory was the mutual trust, understanding among the friends and the protective instinct of Krishna for his friend Arjuna that made all the difference. It was Arjun's choice person over his possessions that finally came in handy for him.
Krishna's teachings shined through Arjun and without Krishna Arjun wouldn't have won the war. One incomplete without the other.
And in MK also Rudra's choice of Maya is going to make a lasting change in him.

Yes, Shruthi.

Shiva has the power to stop akaala mrityu, or premature death. He does not interfere with the normal course of mortality.

The Mrutyanjaya jaap was first done by Markandeya, when Yama was about to take him away at 12 (16?), and when Shiva appeared in response to his appeal, gave him the boon of eternal life and sent the impatient Yama away, Shiva also proclaimed that from then on, those doing the Mahamrutyanjaya jaap would be safe from akaal mrityu.

Yes Shanti I also liked the smile Shiva gave to Maya. Also rightly as you said another name of Lord Shiva is Mrintujaya. He has the power to stop death and we need to see how.

Yes, Arshi, Maimuyi's offhand objection, when he wants to go away with her, that Rudra has to deal with the poison threatening the world by becoming Neelkanth, is the clincher.

As supplementary evidence, so to speak, there is also the point that to fit in with theleit motif of our tale, the parallel with the samudramanthan, that before the amrit emerges, there has to be the deadly vish, and it is Rudra Shiva who has to deal with it.

Shruthi's garudastra vs nagastra angle fits in perfectly here, since Rudra is also Garuda No.1. Talk of multitasking!

So Rudra does not have the least doubt that he will be able to do so, which was wonderful to behold.

On a different tack, I was struck by Balivesh's escalating folly in losing Daadi's unbelievable offer to hand over the Saraswati Kund to the Sri Santh Panth.

I was ready to burst a bloodvessel over that, seeing all the hungama she had been making earlier over the Rao-Shiva anusandhan in the Saraswati Kund making that pavitra sthal apavitra. Presumably she thought Balivesh & Co, would have tins of Rin or New Improved Wheel to cleanse themselves of their accumulated sins first!šŸ˜‰

Be that as it may, Niyati saved Daadi from the consequences of her own folly, with Balivesh's endemic foot in the mouth disease, in Naanu's absence, giving Shivanand the perfect opening to scotch the disastrous proposal. Wonder of wonders, Daadi did not shush him and make a repeat offer, but allowed herself to be gently led away. I was in a state of shock for a full five minutes after seeing that!!šŸ˜‰

I could not quite catch what exotic syndrome they had discovered about the effects of the poison, and what kind of records Rao was hoping to unearth about the 1869 poisoning of an identical kind, but as Sandhya was joking on my thread, it is clearly one that permits the victim, Maya, to do a lot of lajaana sharmaana, nayan ladaana, joking and laughing, and even going on a boatride before collapsing gracefully in her love's arms. It might have been slow - timed to perfection to hit when the saat phere are on - but if it was also dardnaak, that did not show.

I have never relishes the Rudra-Maya romance, but this last episode was, finally, not just tolerable but appealing, thanks to Rudra's melting smile that lights up his eyes ever so gently.

Otherwise, it was straight out of Dickens, like the death of the young heroine, Nell, in The Old Curiosity Shop. In those days, the magazines from England with the latest chapters of this novel used to be received by anxious crowds at the American ports, and when his "dear, gentle sweet Nell" died, it was said that all of America wept.

It is going to be something like that with the Mahakumbh viewers come Monday. I do not cry, but I shall preserve a respectful silence and await her resurrection!

Arshi dear, re: your last sentence, the interesting thing is that despite all that had happened to him, there was never any hatred or anger from Shivanand's side, only the desperate need to protect the world by protecting amrit. It was Rudra who was swearing vengeance on the 'Veshes for the killings of Udiya Baba (which does not stand up at all, for they had nothing to do with his dying or even with Pandey's attempt on Rudra's life) and Maimuyi.

Now is he going to forget all that, just as his Daadi is prepared to forget the destruction of the Brahma Nisht Panth by the'Veshes just because of her obsession with uniting the two Panths? It seems odd to me. And in the end, he is going to fight the nagas and the rest of the dark forces to save the world. Would that be doing it for love? Of whom? Of humanity?

I have never been comfortable with the idea of turning the other cheek and repeatedly forgiving evil in the hope of reforming it. Evil has to be destroyed. I thus prefer our pauranic concept of samhara.

I agree with you on the samhara of the evil. There is point till which forgiveness and turn the other cheek work - till the wrong doer also has a boundary of sanity, beyond the tipping point - it has to be a war.

But I was talking about the mental frame of the general who is going to war.

Is it a personal dushmani with a particular indivdual, or the call of duty and Karma.

If Rudra has slayed his personla demons, and saved his precious Maya, he goes to war at the higher calling of his duty, otherwise he gores to war with a small vision and personal anger and vendetta clouding his judgement...

As for Dadi ... to hand over the kund to the papis - what was she thinking?

Shymaladi the wedding is straight out of the book " A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Spark and to be frank Rudra-Maya love story also has so much similarity with that book.
I mean it is not just a love story but a love story between 2 people who are not expected to fall in love and he decides to marry her on her death bed. It is church there where the leading lady cannot walk still comes walking with her father and well here it is Saat phere.
I will give marks after watching the wedding epi. Because Nicholas Sparks made me cry with the wedding sequence, let me see how far UN can go.

I hereby send you a box of e-tissues, my dear Shruthi. I am harder hearted, and I do not need them!šŸ˜‰

It is all soppy nonsense, with Punnu and Charles nodding like a kind of Greek chorus, though it was not too bad last night.

I have not seen A Walk to Remember, but going by your description, I am sure there must have been a lot of hankies out in the auditorium!

Oh my, I was just going to say that! I am not a fan of that movie or the book but still this whole thing about Rudra fulfilling Maya's bucket list type scenes have been done to death in so many shows/books, and there was no novelty to it. The scene failed to tug at my heartstrings.

Edit: There are some moving real-life incidents like that of the physicist R.P.Feynman marrying his first wife after she was diagnosed with a "mystery ailment", and surrendering himself completely to her whims and fancies and cute antics till the time she breathed her last. I've never been so moved by any other love story, reel or real.

I have to say, the chemistry between the leads here is very inconsistent and this particular scene from yesterday did not move me, one bit.
