Also Digvijaya campaign is in Ghosha yatra, after Arjuna came back, so it didn't really take a long time

Yes it didn't take 13 years I know that but it can not be completed in 13 months especially since it happened After Ghosha yatra

He should have taken the rule over Panchal. Leaving them independent was a blunder

I think Drona would have stopped them since he wanted to be equal to his friend

What I mean to say is that a lot happened during the exile period, a time frame less than 13 years does seem improbable

My point is if Kaurava's main objective was to keep Pandavas away for 13 years and strengthen their Kingdom, then why start after a decade of exile?

Doesn't it make more sense for them to start right away, if that was their motive?

They won Panchal and Panchal didn't fight with them, what other army did Pandava have if you remove Panchal from the picture?

Edit - Karna had conquered Dwaraka too

What's left for Pandavas?

I don't think Karna conquered Dwarika. Did he? I think Dwarika wasn't in his way and please tell me no one can defeat Krishna

The first and foremost thing is to settle down your own kingdom. They would have taken some time to settle down the internal anguish. Hastinapur was definitely not a strong state earlier, else they would have attempted for the Rajsuya themselves. It would have taken time to strengthen themselves.

Anyhow these are the immidiate affected states they will support Pandavas but the others like Pragjyothis, Tripura Saurastra etc did support Kauravas. They had the bigger army

What else could have been the reason for exile then?

Inviting them again asking for another game and having got them exiled

Aside is there anything which suggests that the exile was of 13 months? Except for the fact that Keechak n Sudeshna noticed her beauty in the last month

"And, O bull of the Bharata race, having subjugated the Avantis and concluded peace with them, and having met with the Vrishnis, he conquered the west."

Dwarka was in west, Krishna was called Vrishneya

The way Dury refused to believe that 13 years are over, I Think their plan was sending them on exile again because terms were that if they are recognized during agyaywas, they have to start again

Anyway, My main point was that Arjuna's exile period is more descriptive in the years he spent, where and doing what?

Karna's digvijay was taken out of CE. Highly likely to be interpolation.

Also, Kauravas weren't idle. Panchali got attacked many, many times during exile. Unless the entire land was full of sex-crazed men who were somehow adept at clandestine activity, these were assassination attempts.

Once she was taken out and the death blamed on some demon, the Panchalas would have lost interest.
