Ah..now I identify my problem. It was too much in character for me to like😆. It conflicted with my idealistic view of Karn, and thats why I couldn't take it! But you are right-Only he could have spoken this at this moment😆.

Now that I have had my epiphany, time for me to edit my post😉

can we please talk about shakuni now? i know, karna hasn't died yet but can we please change the topic of discussion? there is nothing more to talk about karna's death in starbharat exept mellowdrama.

Well according to that news nation segment duri is already hiding in water while gandhari is coming...n mama plays dyut with krishna to stop his yojna😆

Still vasudev influences dury to cover up using telepathy!!! Wow!!!😆

1) Because the tear was not for the enemy, it was for self. The action that preceded spoke of treachery, unrighteousness, cowardice - everything he didn't want to be.

2) Agreed, words of affection from a brother to a hitherto unknown brother is possible and acceptable- usually. Though with Karna, I find it inconsistent with his character. My view of Karna's affection or lack of it towards Arjuna was formed by the different versions and perspectives of Mahabharat that I have read. In every version, Karna's enmity towards Arjuna till his death was a constant. He knew Arjun was his brother even before the GG. When Karna knew the truth about his birth and brothers he only promised to spare the life of 4 of his brothers and specifically said 'except Arjun'. Karna certainly was battling to kill his 'brother' Arjun. And that is why realization of mistakes or not [the GG of which Arjun has no idea of], that sudden endearment felt out of character and weird.

Exactly!! Then why is the depiction so different here...the only time all the P's were shown swearing to fight for Drau's insult was post the VH...uske baad toh everyone seems so Oblivious to her Pain and Humiliation! Even Arjun..he didn't even make a mention of it once during the battle or when the respective K's were being killed in his hands...it was only Sakha Govind who reminded either the P's or the K's of Drau's Humiliation and Insult...and then Bhima of course, post every K-clan death, felt satisfied that the one who insulted Drau in the open court met his rightful end..

Why this depiction in SP MB? I don't understand...Are they trying to play Favs and highlight that Bhima was the Best and Most Loved Pati of Drau?

Arjun was his arch rival throughout till he comes to know of truth. He already had pledged killing him in this battle. Having said that he was also sure that Arjun would slay him in this battle and it was inglorious for both of them to back down from this ultimate battle of their life.

Some excerpts from his conversation with Krishna-

"And it is for this, O Achyuta, that in the battle (that will ensue), I, O Krishna, have been chosen as the great antagonist of Arjuna to advance against him in a single combat. For the sake of death, or the ties of blood, or fear, or temptation, I cannot venture, O Janardana, to behave falsely towards the intelligent son of Dhritarashtra. If I do not now engage in a single combat with Arjuna, this will, O Hrishikesa, be inglorious for both myself and Partha."

"When O Krishna, thou wilt behold me slain by Arjuna, then will the Punachiti of this sacrifice commence. "

Now question arises why did he not spare Arjun. Well for me he was trying to be fair with his mother, his brothers and his friend who had sort of full faith in him.. So he could not pardon all of them ..then what was use of him fighting the war from dury side.

I think I will end discussion here as this will result in more argument and debates. I will just state a simple fact that many believe Karna had ill feelings towards Arjun even after knowing truth which i dont believe was the case. This is entirely my POV😊 as per little knowledge of things in Mahabharat that I have.😊
