If I'm not mistaken, then Aswathama got immortality curse after he shoots his Brahmastra/Brahmashira/(whichever it was) at the womb of the Pandava women, and kills Uttara's baby.

I guess, in this serial, Ashwathama gets spared bcoz he's Dronacharya's son.

No he was immortal/invincible because of his gem.. Krishna cursed him with immortality after he lost it.. This is after Karna is killed.. But no idea why Drona believed the half truth inspite of this

Then Drona's son, catching hold of Duryodhana's hand, and adopting a soothing tone, addressed thy son, saying, "Be gratified, O Duryodhana! Make peace with the Pandavas. There is no need for quarrel. Fie on war! The preceptor, conversant with the mightiest of weapons and like unto Brahma itself, hath been slain. Other bulls among men, headed by Bhishma, have also been slain. As regards myself, I am unslayable, as also my maternal uncle. Rule the kingdom for ever, (sharing it) with the sons of Pandu.

Hmm. I thought that stone was for protecting him from various diseases, and supernatural energies.I could be wrong.
And your point is also valid. If Aswathama was really "unslayable", then, y did Drone worry after his hearing of "Aswathama's" killing?

diala, actualy things were different, after hearing the half truth of yudhi, drona was indeed in a shock, he wanted to check if ashwi was in heaven or not, so he droped his weapons and sat in a yogic pose and left his body in meditation, and then dhrishtadyumna beheaded him.

I know that.. but why should he be shocked? isnt he supposed to laugh aloud? so to me it seems he himself dint believe that anyone can be immortal.. he should have doubted his birth too..

It was kurukshetra war no one there be kidding...still he did not believe Bhima abt ashwathama's death.he knew tht whatever happens yudhishthir will never tell a lie, as he was dharmraj,he went to yudhishthir to knw the truth, after knowing the half truth he dropped his weapon and sat in a yogic position so tht his spirit can search ashwathama's spirit in heaven...

So, basically Ashwathama was immortal.
Kripacharya was immortal.
Bhishm had ichha mrityu, which means, he too was practically immortal.
Karna had Kavach n Kundal, which also kind of made him immortal, but they were taken away from him.
I always wanted to ask something, which I didn't, keeping in mind the kind of debates that will follow. If so many warriors, some of whom were also invincible, come with boons of immortality, then wasn't it unfair for the Pandavas too?

this immortality thing confuses me. if i am not wrong usually gods like shiva or brahma when asked for boon of immortality didnot grant such boons saying that its not possible?hiranyakashyap too was not given that boon?then how ashwi and kripacharya got the boon? something i read in few fiction books of mythos, idk how much this hold true but one type of immortality meant the person couldnot die but could b killed.meaning he wont die by natural process, wont grow old but could b killed.as ashwi and kripachary's immortality like this?
