It was kurukshetra war no one there be kidding...still he did not believe Bhima abt ashwathama's death.he knew tht whatever happens yudhishthir will never tell a lie, as he was dharmraj,he went to yudhishthir to knw the truth, after knowing the half truth he dropped his weapon and sat in a yogic position so tht his spirit can search ashwathama's spirit in heaven...

No he was immortal/invincible because of his gem.. Krishna cursed him with immortality after he lost it.. This is after Karna is killed.. But no idea why Drona believed the half truth inspite of thisThen Drona's son, catching hold of Duryodhana's hand, and adopting a soothing tone, addressed thy son, saying, "Be gratified, O Duryodhana! Make peace with the Pandavas. There is no need for quarrel. Fie on war! The preceptor, conversant with the mightiest of weapons and like unto Brahma itself, hath been slain. Other bulls among men, headed by Bhishma, have also been slain. As regards myself, I am unslayable, as also my maternal uncle. Rule the kingdom for ever, (sharing it) with the sons of Pandu.
Hmm. But I think it was a matter of perspective here. The Kauravas had a much larger army remember? The only thing that balances the act was Lord Krishna's presence.Originally posted by: ...Diala...
Pandavas also had Krishna who was atleast a Mayavi if not a God, then two warriors born to kill two main warriors on the other side, then we know what all Arjun had, Bhima had a boon of immeasurable strength so Pandavas actually outweigh in my opinion.. and in addition to that, all three main warriors of Kaurava side had soft spot for Pandavas. So the war was unfair to Kauravas IMO
