What you've mentioned about the south sources are in fact true!! Telugu version of Mahabharatam, written by Nannaya, Tikkanna, and Erranna (11th century) states in the Aadi Parvam that Karna misses the target. Now this is considered one of the oldest versions and one of the most authentic versions of Mahabharatam, so yeah!

Thanks for this detailed discussion. Yes, there are some variations between texts of different regions. For example, I have heard that only eastern versions have the verse where Yudhishthir cursed all women after knowing Karna's secret, but others versions do not have it. Like this, some verses may be added later or deleted later, scholars do research on it but nobody can say what is the actual text.
About KMG, you are absolutely right. I never read KMG as it is not clear at many places, also it missed some parts, some verses cannot be found there. I noticed that mainly in Karna's parts, KMG mistranslated some verses & also, some verses are not even translated. I don't know whether it was done deliberately or not, but as a honest translator KMG must have all verses which is not the case. It will be a problem if we try to convince people about a character with KMG ref, as it is very much misleading.
Bandhaki is the actual word, I saw, & yes it does not mean only 'unchaste', rather it means a woman who lends or sells herself to another, right? So KMG is wrong here. Also after Duryodhan showed his thigh to Draupadi, Karna laughed loudly (abhyutsmayitwa Radheyam), that part of verse was not translated by KMG.

Is this true? 😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲
Then what kind of translation of Mahabharat is it? Vishnu SahasraNaam is a very very important part of Mahabharat & no translator should cut it. Thank God I don't read KMG.

Dear brother, I think that every part of MB has Spirituality but we cannot find it in maximum cases. I believe that both Vyas & Valmiki wrote the epic only to teach Spirituality to the world, as Spirituality is the very life of ancient India. Unfortunately we do not go in depth of the epics & do not understand the significance. But a deep thinking & God's Blessing can show us that whole MB is Spiritual.

In which version is this present ? Neelakantha?

Edit : OK found it. Verse 12, Adhyaya 63 (Sabha Parva) Critical Edition.

So KMG didn't translate this part?
