Hi everyone, I am new to this forum but was very excited to read everyone's posts on the Gita. I am really enjoying watching the current episodes of the Mahabharata.

Have any of you heard of the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies? They are offering online courses and the one on the Bhagavad Gita is brilliant. The Gita is discussed from many different viewpoints such as Shankaracharya's, Ramanujacharya's and Madhvacharya's as they have all written their own differing commentaries on this scripture. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to study the OCHS's courses near where I live in the UK but I really recommend their online courses which are very popular.

As someone said on this thread, no one can know the Gita perfectly but we can all try to understand it in our own way though we need guidance and questions answered from people who have studied more deeply and can answer more objectively. Someone on this thread said that they were Hindu but not quite as they did not worship idols or should we say sacred images. Again Shankaracharya explains the Gita from an Advaita stance as he also did not ultimately recommend Murtipuja.
