Ooohhh god is there any use of stretching tis topic??? It is done. The scene has been telecasted n no damage to character has been done in ANY way. However invalid it may seem in your opinion but u cannot accuse the CVs for the portrayal of any character wen they haven't mention that they r following vyas. What is 'consistent approach' in your opinion, may not be for the makers. It is as simple as that...

To the TM - better people than Gandhari have had their characters ruined in this serial. Going chronologically, Satyavati, Vichitravirya, Amba, Ambika, Dhritarashtra, Shakuni, Madri, Ashwatthama, Drupada, Vidura, Bheeshma, Vikarna and finally Draupadi herself.

By contrast, Gandhari has been given the usual kid glove treatment

I've no issues regarding Gandhari's characterization because better characters have been ruined. Also, she's somewhat close to the epic now. Since Starbharata portrayed her as a saint so far, this sudden transformation from a 'Devi' to a 'Devil' may give a strange feeling in the beginning.

TM, whatever Starbharata has done to the epic and its most important characters so far, is more than enough to register a complain.

Other characters have ruined as well. This serial has distorted all the important characters of the epic.

Arjun has been shown as a super-powerful n super-intellect person.

Kunti n Karna have been whitewashed.

Duryodhan has been shown as the ULTIMATE villain. Shakuni has been shown as worse.

Satyavati has been shown as a selfish, greedy woman, whereas in the epic, it was her father who made all the decisions.

Draupadi has been shown as one arrogant woman who dismisses her mothers-in-law from her chamber, compares Karna to demons at her Swamvar, n almost divorces Arjun in her own 3000 B.C. way.

All these are wrong portrayals.

So y suddenly start complaining about Gandhari?

As for Gandari is concerned, I think, now they have actually shown her in the right way.

From what I have understood after reading the epic,about her character, is that she was not evil. But she was certainly not a saint.

She interfered n scolded her sons, only when she sensed that her sons' future was at stake.

She interfered in Draupadi's Vastraharan, only when Draupadi started cursing her.

So, she was a typical mother, who would do anything to ensure her sons' safety.

And as for that dialogue in the precap is concerned, I think that they did it to attract the viewers.

Hi All, I had written about character assassination of all characters which you have mentioned in your reply in my article " Creatives should be ashamed of "ruining soul of Mahabharat" which is now removed or moved to India Forum's Story distortion section. I have specially written this article becoz creatives in their add showed Gandhari asking Shakuni to ensure Pandavas never make it in 13 years and are kept poor and without help. This was absolute insult of the character and contradictory to consistent approach. Creatives did edit the part and Gandhari was shown saying "Do whatever it takes to save my family" This creative team has significantly chopped Yudhistir's role,Bheeshma Vidur Gandhari,Dhritrashtra relationship is not justified. Arjun and Draupadi are unnecessarily given more screen space. Treatment of important scenes is a major letdown. Comparisions are not good but this version will not go down as epic.

It will go down as epic, but for all the wrong reasons. But by & large, most of their cast has been outstanding.

Probably that is the right way of defining it. I am loving every bit of this version, it is just that you get turn off by character assasinations.
