If you recall, there were 2 curses working in tandem:
  • Gandhari's curse
  • Curse of Durvasa, Vishwamitra, Kanva & some other rishis, b4 whom Samba was brought disguised as a pregnant woman
The latter curse was guaranteed to destroy the Yadavas, and so by absorbing Gandhari's redundant curse w/ them, Krishna saw to it that Gandhari couldn't destroy the Pandavas.

Or did he? After all, once he was gone, as well as his race, Arjun was defeated in battle by some bandits, and realized that the time had come for the Pandavas to quit. So they retired, and Gandhari may well have had the last laugh

Incidentally, everyone ignored my last question about the end of Uttara?

So, if both versions are folklore, what is the actual scene with Krishna and Karna...?

There was no such scene between them.. there were two personal conversations Krishna had with Karna.. first to come to the Pandava side and second to fight for Pandavas until the time Bhishma falls.. as if Karna was some paid warrior fighting for the Kauravas..

Correct. Karna was decapitated so no chance of any scene of Krishna with Karna. Krishna would have probably celebrated Dushy and Karna's fall on the 17th day with the Pandavas in the evening and nothing wrong if he actually did that.

Did Krishna ask Karna to fight or sit and spend time in the Pandava camp? Either way it was a pretty lame thing.

Uttara was present in HP when the Pandavas retired. I know its not mentioned in KMG, but its mentioned somewhere else which I can neither quote here nor anywhere.😊

Sahadeva (the youngest Pandava) was an excellent astrologer. He knew everything about the future. He knew that a war was going to occur, but he kept silent because he was under a curse that if he revealed anything to anybody he would die. There is also a story of him being a great astrologer. Pandu (Father of Pandavas) wished his sons must eat his flesh post death so that all the knowledge may transfer to them which he had collected after so many years. Only Sahadeva ate a piece; the moment he ate, he was able to see future but stopped by God.

Is it true or another myth??

If you read Mahaprasthanika Parva, you'll see mentions of Subhadra and other Pandava queens. It's also mentioned that Chitrangada returned to Babruvahana, and Uloopi returned to the watery Naga kingdom, but no mention is made about Uttara staying w/ Parikshit.

Which used to puzzle me, since in Ashramvatika Parva, there is a mention of Parikshit sitting on Uttara's lap b4 the meeting w/ Abhimanyu, but after that, no mention of her @ all. I was curious, and just a couple of days ago, read that part about all the kshatranis leaving and drowning themselves in the Ganga on Vyasa's instructions, so that they could rejoin their husbands.
