Who did Karna's last rites??

In Sbs segment they showed Karna in Kunti's lap... Was it really his last wish and was that the only thing he asked from Kunti?? Is it true that it was his wish that Pandava's should do his last rites but they refused to do so Krishna did it??

I am not sure about that citation you say.. but few facts.. Kunti send him afloat in the River Ashwi then transported to Yamuna and then Ganga.. Adiratha found Karna in Champa City

this is interesting! ..thanks

but why did she chose to put Karna and a casket and set him on the river ... she could have easily given the Karna for adoption to someone at the Kunti Bhoj ... was it coz that adoption was too questionable esp among the kshatriya's at that time? ... or she was afraid she wouldn't have self control to come back and proclaim him as her child ... or was it just impulsive decision?

just handing off Karna to some good hands ... would have given her peace of mind that he was alive and living somewhere as opposed to being totally unaware of Karna's whereabouts or even if he was alive or not...

kinda throws a debate on whether somewhere deep down in the heart wanted Karna to drown but not witness it ... 😆

Acutally nobody specific. It was done as part of the mass cremations. Yudi called the Pandava priest and the Kaurava priest and asked them to organize the cremations. It seems only Drona's body ( or whatever was left of it) was taken off by the brahmins and cremated. Only skeletons would have remained of people like Uttar or Sweta who died on the very first day.

The tilanjali or the water ceremony is where Kunti broke down and told the truth to the Pandavas.

Thanks!! Is that Champa City the one near Bengal or is that some other Champa City? If its the one near Bengal then that was quite a ride for the baby escaping the famous Ganga crocodiles on the way. Did Kunti have spies tracking the baby?

If that is nearby Bengal, probably that is the place.. Yes she had spies

Yes, I too read about Kunti breaking down and telling the Pandavas about Karna during the water ceremony.

After the war, Karn's remaining son was recognized by the Pandavas as the eldest in the next generation of Kunti's grandchildren. However, he was not named as the heir to the Hastinapur throne. It was Abhimanyu's son becomes the ruler. Why? Is it because Karn was born out-of wedlock and not considered as Pandu Putr? Technically, all the pandavas were born thru Kunti's boon. Not really Pandu's direct desendent.
Would really appreciate some light into this issue. My young kids and siblings are really killing me with this question. I can't seem to kind any explanantion in anything I have read so far.

It's all pretty hazy in the absence of citations. KMG's translation of MB does not mention anything about Karna's son, whereas the translations of Jamini's version of MB mention Karna's son. Also there is absolutely no mention about Yudi, Bheem, Nakul and Sahadev children from other wives during the war or post the war.

Ultimately Parikshit symbolized the union between the Pandavas and the Yadavas and the decision to crown him would most likely have been a political one as after the war the Pandavas and Yadavas remained the two most powerful groups and also thick friends. There are no easy answers in MB.
