I read in my one of my history researches that there was a massive fire caused by invaders in University of takshashila and Nalanda { these two were epicentres of knowledge in the Mauryan times}
In this fire many full original texts and some parts of original texts got completely destroyed. What remained were folklores which passed from generation to generation

So we cannot say with certainty that these are just folklores and have no basis

i have a question... as i am still reading and learning ...
i have heard many times people saying that Abhimanyu was not 16 when he fought in the war ... he was around 32 or so ... and maybe there are contradictory citations available for both ...

lets suppose Abhimanyu was all of 32 when he fought the war ... which makes Yudhisthir and Draupadi's son who i believe what the eldest of the Upapandavas ... Prativindha to be around 40-42 years of age (i am not sure of the age difference just stating approximately) ... so if he was around 40 why was he not married? or was he? and if he was did he have kids? what happened to those kids?

if Prativindha (or all the Upapandavas) were not married before the war ... why didn't the Padavas get them married just like they got Abhimanyu married before the war?? ...

are there any citations or explanations ... am just curious to know 😆

In the absence of citations we can only speculate. The Pandavas were in exile and with future uncertain no king would have wanted to marry off their daughters to the Pandava sons at that time.

Virata was beholden to the Pandavas and especially to Arjun. Prativindya was older to Abhimanyu, but the offer by Virata was specifically for Arjun and he chose his elder son ( his son by Draupadi was younger to Abhimanyu and Iravan/ Babruvahana were not considered for different reasons). The preparations and parleys for the war started almost immediately and I don't think there was time to think about marriage for the Upapandavas.

According to the facts i gained by reading says abhimanyu was sixteen when he died...
There is a story that king virat offers his daughters hands to arjuna when he defeats kauravas and gives the credit to rajkumar uttar...arjuna as brihandala was uttaraz teacher during agyatvas so he refused saying she was his student so she was like his daughter...so instead he offers that his son abhimanyu will marry uttara and king virat agreed...

Didn't Abhimanyu marry Vatsala, Balram's daughter? If yes, wasn't the marriage blessed with any off-spring.

No it does not happen in the epic, this is a folklore, in the epic Duryodhana was a class apart mace fighter, he was superior to Bhima in skill and hence Bhima had to cheat in order to win.

The folklore - Duryodhana is about to go naked in-front of his mother so that can his mother can make his body of Vajra, Krishna tells Duryodhana that is it not appropriate to go in-front of your mother naked, after all he is all grown up now, Duryodhana accepts this advice and wraps a loin cloth around his thighs, Gandhari opens her eyes and Duryodhan's body transforms into Vajra except the thighs, in the battle Bhima slays Duryodhana by hitting on his thigh. ( Hitting on thigh is not allowed in a mace fight ).

[ This is a very rough version of the folklore, if anyone finds it incorrect - please feel free to correct it ]

Dury wasn't only better than Bhima but was better than each and every pandav when it came to mace fighting

Yudhishtra had challenged dury that if he defeats any of the pandavas in mace fight Yudhishtir will agree that he has lost the war

After this krishna ji rebukes yudhshitir for such a silly condition because such a huge war was fought to make him the king and now because of this condition entire fate of the war depended on this one duel

It is then that krishna ji says that its impossible to defeat dury in mace fight only Bhima can do it if possible

But during the actual fight Bhima is losing that is when Krishna ji decided that Bhima's oath of breaking dury's thigh can be used as an excuse for hitting dury's thigh and defeating him which actually was against the rules

Karna died on Day 17, same day as Dushy.

Shalya, Shakuni & Dury died on Day 18.
