abt the quoted part then why he did not use? what was then the purpose of acquiring celestial weapons if u can't use them? one more thing I read somewhere celestial weapons were not for use against common soldiers then how come in mb war they were repeatedly used to destroy the army(as army did contain common soldiers) ? did celestial weapon firing have any bad kind of effect on the weilder itself ?

From Mahadev, he got the Pasupatastra, which was used against Jayadrath. From Indra, he got a whole host of divyastras, which were used against not ordinary soldiers, but in his combats w/ Bheeshma, Drona, Ashwatthama, Karna & Kripa. I think it is mentioned on day 11 or 12 that he used a Brahmastra against the Narayanis or the Shamshaptakas. Aside from that, in his final battle vs Karna, both of them used a whole host of divyastras against each other.

Shrishti, I doubt that there were any conditions barring their use. As it is, if celestial weapons were used against each other, they nullified each other, by the look of it.

What does crushing one's division mean, does crushing one's division mean defeat, here is the Para in Which my doubt occurs.

"Then Drona, desirous of the prosperity of thy sons, having thus crushed the divisions of Satyaki, and Bhima, and Dhananjaya and Subhadra's son and Drupada, and the ruler of the Kasi, and having ground many other heroes in battle, "

Does the above para mean Drona Defeated them?, it is also written that he grounded many other heroes, does this mean he grounded those warriors too ( Bhima and all)

Crushing their divisions means defeating their armies for that day. Same is true for grounding. Note that victories would belong to different warriors on different days.

So the above para does mean that Dhananjaya too was defeated by Drona in that particular battle.
