To those you've read JAYA- An Illustrated Retelling Of The Mahabharata authored by Devdutt Pattanaik, kindly enlighten me whether the book is worth a read?...having read the sample, i feel im reading something totally unheard of...felt the author is simply spinning tales...
I seek a book that focuses on the DEEPER meaning of the battle of kuru-clan and the MESSAGE of the Gita that we need to imbibe in our lives...

kindly offer your input.

thanks...

Part in bold - The Bhagavad Gita itself would be what you are looking for - based on your requirements.

Spinning tales?? You obviously haven't watched Starbharat then!! Our wonderful show keeps spinning awesome tales all the time!! 😆
Or better, read the Indonesian version of the Mahabharata - that seems to be the favourite of the creatives of our show. If you are used to the original Ved Vyasa version (the KMG translation is the most popular), well, the Indonesian version of MB could have more than a few surprises in store for you!!

and yes The Gita is def there but i was looking for an alternative..something contemporary..in layman's language...saw Jaya in popular category and also many here on the forum keep referring to it so was curious to know what this
