And as i said we are fully capable of doing our own bloody research on it if we really are interested in it.
And the ones who would rather watch starplus to know mb or lifeok to know about lord shiva than do their own digging and hunting around, then they are truly stupid.
The excuse that i dont like reading but am interested in mb, so i sit in front of my tele for half an hour to know it, is not a bloody valid one.
true, very true. But in this rapid age of technology and lack of time, wikipedia is where most people go for information. It's a sad but true fact, and only a handful of people who have studied properly know that Wikipedia is far from a reliable source.
But for the vast majority, Wikipedia is an excellent source to get basic summaries on concepts.
Interestingly, I don't think Ekta Kapoor's MB had any such effects (of course EK's MB was far below the worst thing watchable), but I think it's amazing how much TV has an influence over an individual. I remember, back when the NDTV Ramayana serials were televised, I was reading comments everywhere that was like "whenever I am worshiping God, I think about Debina and Gurmeet's faces as Sita and Rama" ... which, if one is religious, a pretty stupid thing to do. That being said, televising the Ramayana or MB isn't a bad thing, but it has to be done with some degree of devotion towards the epics, towards the message, and towards the ideas present in the epics.
Now, are people just gullible or does this have something to do with our faith in our religion (assuming most people here are Hindus)? Is it exploitation (since mythology is definitely an attention grabber) or does the fault lie in us?
(those are completely off topic questions, so no need to change the discussion towards them. Just expressing my thoughts)
But I'm happy they are introducing Ghatotkach somewhat soon (probably next week?). Wonder how this will happen though.
