Minakshi, doing what he did is more fun - except for the marrying thing 😆

Shikhandini will get tough training. Her Grand father has higher aims already set for her.

There is no conditions applyed. Even the marriage part come with it.😆
That's why he is the only one😃

Sorry, I didn't mean Hastinapur the city per se. Actually, Shakuni wanted to destroy the Kuruvansh to avenge his sister's "humiliation". But, when you want to destroy an entire royal family, the people ruled by them are bound to get affected to a certain degree. That's one of the reasons why war should be regarded as the very last resort to resolve any conflict - so as to avoid unnecessary bloodshed and loss of lives. Unfortunately, there WAS a lot of bloodshed in the Kurukshetra war.

There WAS a lot of bloodshed which is why it it Kurukshetra. But, Hastinapur was under the Pandavas while the Kauravas got a part of it. Shakuni, while trying to destroy the Kauravas, indirectly even destroyed the Pandavas and Shakuni was one of the main causes for the war. Was he so blinded that he became a cause for the war?

no, i think it is the ambission and pride and insecurity of dhritraastra which was inherited to duryodhan also was the cause of the war.

It was interesting to note the tension between all the 3 brothers who has a claim to the throne, pretty realistic.

hi

this may surprise you ll,but contary to what people believe shakuni never did have vengence aginst kurus or wanted them destroyed. Gandhari's marriage was a purely political one aimed to gain hastinapur as an ally, shakuni had no qualms in it. that being said Shakuni was against pandavas only because if yudi got the throne the political advantage they had would be lost. Shakuni wanted only duryodhana to occupy hastinapur throne and he did whatever required to facilitate that. He is not jealous of yudi getting khandavprastha as long as duryodhan is made heir to hastinapur. The jealousy is all fron duryodhan's side. see this passage from KMG:

"Sakuni said.--'O Duryodhana, thou shouldst not be jealous of Yudhishthira. The sons of Pandu are enjoying what they deserve in consequence of their own good fortune. O slayer of foes, O great king,
thou couldst not destroy them by repeatedly devising numberless plans, many of which thou hadst even put to practice. Those tigers among men out of sheer luck escaped all those machinations. They have obtained Draupadi for wife and Drupada with his sons as also Vasudeva of great prowess as allies, capable of helping them in subjugating the whole world. And O king, having inherited the paternal share of the kingdom without being deprived of it they have grown in consequence of their own energy. What is there to make thee sorry for this? Having gratified Hustasana, Dhananjaya hath obtained the bow
Gandiva and the couple of inexhaustible quivers and many celestial weapons. With that unique bow and by the strength of his own arms also he hath brought all the kings of the world under his sway. What is
there to make thee sorry for this? Having saved the Asura Maya from a conflagration, Arjuna, that slayer of foes, using both his hands with equal skill, caused him to build that assembly house. And it is for this
also that commanded by Maya, those grim Rakshasas called Kinkaras supported that assembly house. What is there in this to make thee sorry? Thou hast said, O king, that thou art without allies. This, O
Bharata, is not true. These thy brothers are obedient to thee. Drona of great prowess and wielding the large bow along with his son, Radha's son Karna, the great warrior Gautama (Kripa), myself with my
brothers and king Saumadatti--these are thy allies. Uniting thyself with these, conquer thou the whole of the earth.'
"Duryodhana said,--'O king, with thee, as also with these great warriors, I shall subjugate the Pandavas,if it pleases thee. If I can now subjugate them, the world will be mine and all the monarchs, and that
assembly house so full of wealth.'
"Sakuni replied,--'Dhananjaya and Vasudeva, Bhimasena and Yudhishthira, Nakula and Sahadeva and Drupada with his sons,--these cannot be vanquished in battle by even the celestials, for they are all great warriors wielding the largest bows, accomplished in weapons, and delighting in battle. But, O king, I know the means by which Yudhishthira himself may be vanquished. Listen to me and adopt it.'

and he tells duryodhan about the dice game.
in KMG. sakuni's brothers are alive (vrishaka and achala killed by arjun) and die fighting in the battlefield. whatever sakuni does plan against pandavas, it is on insistence of duryodhan only.

Okay, I just saw today's episode. Dhritarashtra knows the shabdbedi art - what a crock!!! The only ones who knew it in the Mahabharata were Arjun, Krishna, maybe Karna & Pandu (IIRC, Pandu shot Rishi Kindamba mistaking his sound for a deer). Dhritarashtra had none of that. This serial seems to be following KMHK in trying to make Dhritarashtra look greater than he really was.

And Pandu - when was he such an aide to Dhritarashtra, acting as his attendant? Pandu was already king when this proposal went to Gandhara. He'd hardly be allowed to wait upon his big bro like that. Pandu seems one of the over-cheerful characters in this story - I'm glad he'll be king, & can't wait for him to be united w/ Kunti & Madri, and away from Dhritarashtra.

In this serial, they seem to be using facial hair to indicate age - Devratha was cleanshaven when he became yuvraj, then Bheeshma had a mustache when he abducted Amba and now Bheeshma has a black beard. In accordance w/ that, both Dhritarashtra & Pandu are clean shaven, but in that case, why give Vidura a beard now? As a result, he looks as old as Bheeshma, when he's just a kid.

Dhritarashtra insulting Vidura and Pandu defending him made no sense. Vidura said nothing against Dhritarashtra here. Also, didn't Pandu's marriage to Kunti happen before Dhritarashtra's marriage to Gandhari?

Shakuni the mountaineer 🤣 Sucks to be his sherpa.

One more thing. In this episode, Krishna preached against making any single weakness the focal point of all attention, instead of concentrating on the strong points. But in Dhritarashtra's case, that was the only pretext on which he was bypassed for the throne. Pandu too had his weakness - he was anaemic (he couldn't have been as strong as shown in this episode - his strengths were archery & javelin fighting - same as Arjun & Yudhisthir), but that wasn't held against him in ascending the throne. It's not that I'm endorsing Dhritarashtra over Pandu - I do think Pandu had a better case, I just disagree that Krishna's lesson here follows from Dhritarashtra's example, as depicted here.

one ques: y r the cv's showing such super-arrogancy in bhishma and dhritrashtra regarding marriage to gandhari??
it was the other way round- gandhari's boon was she should have a century of sons each equal unto her lord in strength and accomplishments - which king wouldnt like to have 100 sons like himself?
so bhishma saying that anyone can have a 100 sons is highly insulting.
