I have watched the previous BRC Mahabharat version twice and have immense love and respect for it. However that being said, I don't mind the new "starbharat." Yes there are distortions and some of the storylines are completely messed up but they have at least tried to stick true to the essence of Mahabharat. Its the story of Mankind and our various attributes- the good, the evil, happiness, sadness, love, duty, honor..Its a story of a lifetime and I don't think the new Mahabharat has distorted that theme that much. Yes, its more glamorized and some characters are just too mute and hell, some cannot act too well either. However, the main characters are convincing for the most part.
Another thing that I must praise about Starbharat is that we have some sort of back story to many charachters especially Karna. Yes he was the tragic anti-hero whose biggest battle was with himself but he was a husband, a son, and they will maybe show him as a father too. His role in the Mahabharat is based on his friendship, but I liked seeing a background. And also, I do feel that Nakul and Sahadev have more of a speaking role here then they had with the BRC epic.
Don't get me wrong, nothing can beat the soul stirring performances or show that BRC brought together. However, comparatively with the fickle mind of the 2014 audiences, starbharat is not doing a bad job. In fact, they are pretty decent and I think some credit is due there. Anyhow that's just my two cents.
