u only need watch one moment/scene from brc to realise how near to perfect it was with its classic acting, theres this kind of euphorical sublime feeling that one feels whilst watching, aand no other indian serialized version has managed to transcend it
the new serial is in dumps, regardless people still get their gratification from watching it

Well I have only watched the BRC and I still think it is the best adaptation so far. Sure it has its own falters as well as they misguided many things in the show, but in general the dialogues, actors, and acting is beyond what I see in the current versions shown. I know each generation interprets it their own way but I still like BR Chopras!

Yes I agree they did not have the class of special effects..but they made up for that in dialogues!

Pankaj Dheer's Dialogues, His "hey vidhata" still gives me goose bumps!

Mukesh Khanna as the great Bhishma!

I am lucky to have seen and enjoyed it!

I cannot anymore watch the new one in seriousness, BRC Mahabharat is the best. All its actors set the level which has not been surpassed by any of the new ones as they are almost dumbed down and muted to fit within the star plus mould that caters to cheap thrills and spectacles. Exceptions like Shakuni in the new one who has come into his own..
Pankaj dheers portrait of Karna was so genuinely poignant, solemnly enduring, understated, visceral at times when passionate, and silently expressive. his eyes had a deep intensity, his dialogues were suffused with warmth and fierce passion, and yet he had a quiet subdued charm that created intrigue, he didn't have to do much to draw you into him, one naturally became transfixed by his obscurity, enigma, complexity and depth, the duality of his nature was brought forth as he performed with an aggressiveness and endearing restraint
Rupa Ganguly was another phenomenon. so compelling that you really went through the emotions with her in every word she spoke, in every gesture of expression. These actors were genuinely devoted to their roles. I can't see anyone topping that level, giving it that depth the way they had, and in so seamless a manner. There is a delicate balance in overacting and.forcing.emotion. and all these actors managed to overcome this acting from the heart, rather than on the surface, (which is the tendency nowadays with some of the new serials actors who seem to be overtly conscious in pulling off an image), BRCS actors were able to feel their role from within, giving it a passion, this can never be surpassed no amount of dramatisation will reach such depth, heights of passion that brcs actors did. This new one is consumed in sensationalism, trivialisation, n modernisation to some degree that its very difficult to connect to.

@Rangeeni I completely agree with you. Its on a whole different level altogether. Every actor played their part marvelously!
Maybe they didn't have those marvelous spectacular special effects, but they made up for that in dialogues and expressions!

Next thing that attracts maximum concern is the characterization. The new serial is guilty of ruining and defaming the central as well as other characters in the worst possible manner.

@Shruti its the 2014 Mahabharat Adaptation what exactly were you expecting? I also think in terms of research and really understanding the characters, Star Plus is on a different level Their vision in really placing the character with what exactly went on is also different

I had no expectations. But I didn't expect the character assassination either!

Yes its appalling to see the characters undergo such distortion in starbharat, Krishna included. Brcs was and will always be the best most perfect cast ever, The show was on a whole new level. Bless Nitin Bhardwaj, Rupa Ganguly, Arjun, Mukesh Khana, Punnet Isar, Pankaj Dheer, bless them all! They were all so attuned to their role that it was hard to see them in any other lens, sincere, genuine authentic performances that are hard to overcome as much as the new actors would like to! And infact they are more relatable to the modern shows characters simply because of the naturalism in which they performed. It was perfect. Incomparable.
