Yeah, that's what I thought. This whole drama of Dhritarastra having temper tantrums seemed unlikely.

In Br chopras version, it is implied that Dhritarashtra had steel like body and strength, which is evidently the case here..hehee. Of course that strength failed to exist anywhere beyond the surface level for Dhritarashtra.
Anoop thakur singh is growing into his role well, and brings a passion to his character that will naturally disintegrate as the story wears on with the passing of time and his sons come to take over🥱

Dhritarashtra was undoubtedly strong, which is evident in his encounter w/ Bhima after the war. Krishna had an iron statue of Bhima put in front of him - the one that Duryodhan used to practice his mace fighting on. Dhritarashtra hugged it, and it broke into pieces. Dhritarashtra then regretted what he had done, and Krishna told him the truth. It was then that Dhritarashtra came to terms w/ the destruction of his ambitions, & his sons.

But no, he didn't have the talents that are being shown here, like being able to smoothly walk from point A to point B w/o help (in BRC, Dhritarashtra was always helped by a servant or the other) or throwing daggers right @ the bulls eye, or being able to tame a herd of wild elephants. That one they are overdoing. If they instead showed Dhritarashtra lifting heavy objects or bending or breaking strong objects, that would have made more sense.

I just now saw the start of Monday's episode, where he was pretty hostile not just to Pandu & Vidura, but also to Satyavati & Bheeshma. What I don't get is - if they've decided to make his character like that, why not do the same to Gandhari? She wasn't a saint, compared to what they show in the serials.

I agree that Gandhari was not a saintly woman as her blindfolding is itself a symbolisation of ignoring the wrong ! But she might not have been like this always. Circumstances are also responsible to make someone good or bad. May be that's how the CV want to portray it, and even other characters, like they showed the good and bad sides of Dhrit also. I think initially Gandhari wasn't really selfish and negative like Dhrit. May be she changed aftr (or during) the birth of Duryodhana. I believe this transition might have come at that point when she realises that Kunti has defeated her in the race of producing an heir even when she got pregnant first. Some possible reasons to why she never felt any threat from Kunti before could be :
    - She was the eldest daughter in-law
    - Got pregnant before Kunti/Madri
    - Pandu had been cursed by Kindam

so she was quite confident that she is going to produce the next heir in line after Pandu ofcourse! But then this news of Yudi's birth came as a big big shock! In frustration she beat her womb and delivered a blob of flesh. This is the point when her frustration and anguish for her shattered dreams would have definitely triggered negativity and inferiority complex within her. And frm here on, her attitude might have changed (and we know that she completely followed the path of her husband and son throughout her life, though never really showed it openly). Afterall, she was a mother and she too would have desired in her heart of hearts that her own son should lead the kingdom. But very cleverly she hid her dislike towards Kunti and pandavas, acting sweet and concerned all the time while she really never meant it. So may be this is how the transition would be shown.

And yes I agree abt OTT stunts of Dhrit (inspired by JodhaaAkbar ofcourse!) that is too much exaggerated. 😆

Thanks for reminding us where these came from - I'll update Anoop's bio on pg 1 accordingly.

Actually, DBSK was reasonably good at the time they showed their MB track - it wasn't great, but wasn't bad either. It started going down south after that - when they had Sudama II, Paundrak saga, Pradhyumna & Lata Purana. But b4 all that, they did a reasonable job.

But looks like Anoop has a penchant for playing Kauravas. Maybe 20 years down, he'll be a Bheeshma in a future MB 😆

On a different note, after seeing this week's episode, and how Ambika is playing an aggressive saas to bahu Gandhari, I think that the actresses who play Ambika & Ambalika should have switched roles.
