Following the argument b/w Drona & Ashwi, they move into the battlefield.
Krishna is having a conference about how it is essential to kill Drona today. Drona appears on the battlefield & shouts 'akraman' and the Pandavas get back to their chariots/horses and continue.
Bhima is about to launch an attack on the Kauravas when Drona appears b4 him and tells him that he'll destroy any attempt to kill the Kauravas. Drupada arrives & challenges Drona to a battle.
Drona: I don't want to kill you, mitr!!!!
Drupada: I won't let you kill my jamais. You've hurt my daughter enough - you are not gonna make her a widow. I challenge you to battle.
Drona: Very well
Both take up their spears & start a battle. It lasts for a while, when Drona accidentally pierces Drupada in the stomach, going right thru him.
Drona: Let go of my spear.
As expected, no answer from Drupad.
Drona continues to try tugging @ the spear, but he is stuck. Finally, he pulls it out w/ great force, and Drupada falls dead.
Drona starts sobbing uncontrollably over his body. He then decides to take a yogic posture, and Dhrishtadyumna, prompted by Krishna, takes the opportunity & lobs off his head.
Draupadi & Ashwi both come running to the battlefield, and start sobbing over the bodies of their respective fathers. Ashwi then gets up to attack Dhrishtadyumna, but Draupadi confronts him.
Ashwi: You cannot save your brother. He killed my father, now he shall die!!!
Draupadi: Says who? You killed your father. What was the conversation you had today? Didn't he want to withdraw from the war? It was you who forced him, and result is that my father is dead. Following that, he himself was so upset that he didn't want to live anymore. Jesht only did what he was born to do.
Ashwi: How dare you suggest that I am responsible for my father's death, you Durachari?
Draupadi gives Ashwi a hard slap that sends him reeling. Dhrishtadyumna & Prativindya both arrive & congratulate her.
P: Well done, matae. Indeed, w/ a hand like that, you could have taken part in this war.
D: It's a bit late now, since both Pitamaha & Guru Drona are dead. Now only the adharmis remain, so I'm better off back @ camp.
Draupadi turns to return. Dushashan starts chasing her, but Bhima stretches out his leg & Dushashan trips.
Bhima now has his opportunity!!! 😈
