This will be a sort of long segment describing Arjun / Krishna / Draupadi / Subhi's reaction to Subhi's pregnancy. Because of the length I'm planning on making this to be. What will end up happening is I will either create separate posts for each part and add the link here (as they go up -- won't be happening in one day) OR i will just merge them all here and post when I have updated it.
Since I feel horrible about writing this using the names of the characters (ie. Arjun, Draupadi, etc.) and it makes me feel rotten on the inside ... please keep in mind that these characters are actually STARcharacters and not the epic characters. If you can do that much, my guilt will be reduced substantially. Thank you.
Finally, if anyone wants to add suggestions to how they want the story to proceed, feel free to PM me and I'll try to incorporate it in whatever way possible (humorous, serious, emotional, etc.)
Anyway let's begin:
Shaadi Hui Abhi, Naam Rakha Manyu ... Bangaya Na Abhimanyu!
Synopsis: Arjun finds out that Subhi is pregnant. And as any typical father does, he begins to freak out. Subhi tries to calm him, Draupadi tries to calm him, but only Krishna was able to calm him. Bonus storyline: Maybe Karna will visit Arjun.
CHAPTER 1: Arjun Finds Out!
"Bratha Arjun! Bratha Arjun!" A call comes from outside the weapons chamber. Arjun was not paying attention. He was sitting on the cold hard ground, looking up and staring at four paintings. To the very left was his first wife - Panchali. Oh how he loved her so . But Mata Kunti's accidental orders and the series of events that followed were just too much of a painful burden. It had been 12 years since he had seen his first wife. 12 long years. Panchali had been pregnant by his eldest brother Yuddhistir, had the baby, and Arjun had missed it all. A moment of doubt clouded his mind. For a second, he thought about just whisking her away at night, and ride away on his white horse Megashirna towards the moonlight. But the moment he thought that, he regretted thinking it and closing his eyes, he took a deep breath.
His eyes flitted towards the next painting. It was of a young lady. She wore green garments, and her crown was shaped to form a serpent. Her arm bracelets had a slithery serpent like design, and her tika was also that of a serpent. Her painted eyes were green like the grass, and for a split second Arjun felt like she was calling to him. Calling him to leave Indraprasth and return to her abode where they could live together in eternity and peace. He stared at her painting for a few more minutes and thought about his child he had with her. He never got to see him grow up nor did he get to spend much time with him. He was probably 6 years old by now and saying his first words.
I wonder if his first words were dada, Arjun thought. He sighed again. He dearly missed Uloopi and the Naga Loka. Their meeting was secretive and their relation finalized by the Gandharva style of marriage, but the bliss and joy he found with her was incomparable. A tear slowly rolled down his cheeks as he thought about his second wife.
Arjun now turned his head a little to the right and his eyes met the blue dazzling eyes of a fair maiden. He could almost see the twinkle in her beautifully painted eyes. He could smell the scent of the jasmine she kept in her hair, perched right above her right ear. He could taste her hands as his lips would meet her hands the numerous times he had kissed her. Her soft, soft hands caressed his cheeks and played with his hair. He moaned a bit, saddened once more by the separation between the two. This maiden in the chitra (painting), had decorated herself with many bracelets and Arjun smiled as he thought of this lady - his third wife - Chitrangada. He laughed as he remembered attempting to draw his wife while he resided in Manipur and all that came out was a monkey. He would joke with here than this was a picture of the mighty Angada, the son of Vali, the nephew of Sugriva, and a close friend of the Supreme Lord Shri Rama. She would question him why he drew the picture of Angada when he was supposed to be drawing her. And he would reply - this, my love, is a chitra of the mighty angada. You are Chitrangada. He again sighed as he remembered how her eyes would flare up. Chitrangada was a follower of Sita Mata (Lord Rama's wife) and thus this type of comment from her husband didn't go down particularly too well. Arjun would then reply that he was only joking But the damage was done and he would be sleeping on the couch tonight. Even though he flipped the page to a beautifully drawn lady and Chitrangada would blush, his fate was determined. But even sleeping on the couch that night brought tears of happiness and a smile to his face; he would do anything to please his third wife.
And last but not least, his eyes moved towards the last painting of dear dear Subhadra. She was his mitra Madhav's darling little sister. He was forced to marry Subhadra for dharmic reasons. He knew she loved him a lot, but he never felt that spark like he felt when he saw Panchali in the temple, or when he had an eyelock with Uloopi as they descended into Naga Loka, or even with the feisty Chitrangada. To him, Subhadra was a bore. She was obviously into him, but he wasn't too interested in her. He had tried hard to fall in love with her, he had tried hard to see her as the truly amazing, intelligent, funny, sweet, loving, and beautiful person that she was, but he couldn't move on from the fact that there was no spark. He shrugged his shoulders and shook his mane-like hair. He ran his fingers through his hair like Chitrangada did, and he smiled as he remembered his third wife again. They had a son together ... Babhruvahana, but he was left behind to be the ruler of Manipur. All that was left of his still non-pregnant wives were Draupadi and Subhadra. He wouldn't mind having a child with Draupadi, but Subhadra was a different matter because he did not feel comfortable of the idea of ruining someone's life that he had no love for. He loved Uloopi and Chitrangada and that's why he left them, He loved Draupadi and that's why he followed his mother's orders and allowed her to be shared, he even loved Karna like a brother and always bowed down to him, but Subhadra... No, I have no desire for her. We will just have to face the fact that I had saved her from Duryodhana and that is the extent of my capability. She will understand, I hope.
As Arjun was sitting thinking these thoughts, he heard a voice: "Brahta Arjun! Brahta Arjun!" It was a female voice, slightly high pitched, and it was full of excitement. He quickly stood up and covered the paintings with the cloth. As he turned around, he was greeted by a running kid. He smiled and looked down and there was Malini jumping up and down, dancing with her doll, singing "Brahta Arjun! I have some news for you!!"
Arjun smiled. Malini had decided to come to Draupadi once they were settled in Indraprasth. Draupadi would also become childish with Malini and Arjun loved this relationship, so naturally he was highly pleased with Malini.
"Malini! Malini! Calm down! This is the weapon's room. You might get hurt. Or worse, you might hurt your dolly!"
Hearing these words, Malini immediately stopped. Her eyes opened wide and Arjun could see the excitement she bore. The news must have been big. Perhaps Draupadi was pregnant with his baby. It was a stupid thought of course because he hadn't had a physical relationship with her for years, but why else would Draupadi's little friend Malini come looking for him unless there was some big news that involved him!
"Come on now Malini, aren't you going to tell me your little secret!"
"Nuh-uh!"
Arjun raises an eyebrow, but plays along.
"Ok fine, don't tell me your secret. I'll just go to your sakhi Draupadi and ask her. If she tells me, I'll give her one of Bratha Bheem's laddoos!"
The word "ladoo" has it's effect and Malini is invigorated with sudden power. She grabs Arjun's hand and jumps up and down yelling "No No!!! I want the ladoo! Give me the Ladoo Bratha Arjun!"
Arjun smiles and pats her head. "Pehle secret bathao"
"Congratulations Bratha Arjun! You're a father now!"
Arjun laughs, "aap ko abhi patha chala (you found out now). Aare me to pehle se pita hu (I was already a father). Paagal (silly)."
Malini smiles, "No! Your wife just announced she is pregnant!"
Arjun couldn't contain his excitement. He starts to jump up and down with Malini and says, "Panchali is pregnant with my child! I already have a name picked out. We'll call him Srutakirti. This is wonderful news, Malini!!" and saying so he lifts Malini up and kisses her on her forehead.
Malini rubs the kiss from her forehead "bratha Arjun! You're so silly. You haven't met with didi for so many years. But didi Subhadra is pregnant!!" and she starts jumping up and down again!
Arjun stands still, blinks a few times, and breathes. "Subhadra ... is ... pregnant..."
Malini, unable to understand Arjun's confusion and assuming it to be ecstasy, spins in circles and says "yep! Didi Subhadra is pregnant! Didi Subhadra is pregnant! Isn't this exciting! Weee!" She then proceeds to run outside the chambers in a zip-zag fashion, her arms wide apart like the wings of a bird. "Ca-Caw! Ca-Caw!" she calls out!
Arjun is left alone in the weapons chamber. He is dazed, confused... he can 't understand what is going on. Subhadra ... pregnant... what the hell is happening!
Thinking so, he remembered his friend Madhav and called out to him: "Madhav! I feel the limbs of my body quivering and my mouth drying up. I am forgetting myself, and my mind is reeling. I foresee only evil!" And saying so, our great hero faints and falls to the ground confused over the news that his wife Subhadra was now pregnant.
