111? do we have any citation for that pls?

am shocked to know 96 wives of Arjun did not have children.. I thought those days there was no need for gynecologist but acc to what you say things seem to be worse than today 😆

in those days they used to have many wives ,they used to marry due to many reasons like political alliance etc., not only for bearing kids.only those wives were given importance who had kids

this was mentioned in mahabharat😆

111 is still small. Akbar supposedly had 300 wives. But yes, importance was given only to 3 chief wives 😆

We really need actual citations from sources, rather than just claiming things here. Like it's known that Krishna had 16,108 wives, but Arjun had only 4. Bhima 3, YNS 2. Karna's & Duryodhan's number is unknown: Duryodhan had at least 2.

But why judge that by today's standards? Polygyny was okay then, even if it's illegal today. The reasons kings were allowed >1 wife was alliances: e.g. Pandu's marriages made both Kuntirajya & Madra his allies (although his sons lost the latter). The marriages of the Pandavas made Panchala, Dwarka, Chedi & Magadha their allies. And so on.

One question - Vyasa has Arjun cutting off Karna's head w/ the Anjalika weapon. Are any other weapons used to slay Karna in other versions?

Also, does one have an account of Karna's battles from days 11-16? Who were the major warriors he fought on those days?

Weren't sutaputras lower in cadre than sutas? I remember reading that somewhere.. Karna is never addressed as Suta but Sutaputra..

I am not aware of a clan known as 'Sutaputras'. Karna refers to himself as a Suta . Since I have the Shanti Parva in front of me I am quoting from it:

Thus asked, Karna, fearing to be cursed, and seeking to gratify him, said these words, 'O thou of Bhrigu's race, know me for a Suta, a race that has sprung from the intermixture of Brahmanas with Kshatriyas. People call me Karna the son of Radha.

In the Sanskrit version too, he says "Sootam jaatam maam vidhihi..."

Then all the kings of MB era were sutas because they were from Brahmin and Kshatriya origin after the elimination of Kings by Parushuram.Right!?

This question is one the toughest .

Is Krishna an avatar of Lord Vishnu or Lord Vishnu an avatar of Krishna?

It's not tough @ all, except for Hare Krishna members who think the latter.

Vishnu had 10 avatars if one goes by Dasha avatar, and some 20+ if one goes by the SB count. Krishna was just one of them. Of course, if one uses Krishna as one of the other names of Vishnu, it's a different thing altogether, but I'm sure that's not what the above question means.
