No. Sri Krishna does not use his sudarshana in this case. He uses his bow and arrow to repel Rukmi's attacks and when Rukmi jumps from his chariot and rushes towards Krishna with sword in his hand, Krishna too picks up his sword and prepares to kill him. Rukmini then falls at his feet imploring him to leave her brother alive

There are two explanations on how Krishna got his Sudarshana.

The incident you have described above is mentioned in the MB.

SB is silent on how exactly Krishna obtained the Sudarshana (though it does mention that Arjuna got his Gandhiva, etc during the Khandava vana dahana)

In Harivamsa, we get a different story altogether. During their escapade from Jarasandha, Krishna and Balarama sought refuge in the Gomantaka mountains and just before Jarasandha came their, the Sudarshana, Kaumodaki, Sunada (Balrama's plough) dropped from the sky.

I have a doubt - What was Bhishmaka doing when Rukmi created a lot of mess!

Wasn't he aware of this...and what about his other sons???????

Didn't Rukmini share her views and love for Krishna and with her Father and Mother or any other Brother??

Why didn't King Bhishmaka consider Rukmini's preference before proceeding for her marriage???

This one is easy - one word - Jarasandha. Vidarbha was a vassal state of Magadha, and couldn't have policies that were hostile to Magadha. On top of that, Rukmi was a great ally of Jarasandha. So if Jarasandha blessed Sishupala's marriage to Rukmini, there was nothing that Bheeshmaka could do about it, even though he & his wife secretly supported Krishna having her.

Thank You.But some one on this forum said Bhishmak and his 5 sons were Great Warriors as per Mahabharat.

Anyway I have no idea of Jarasandha's powers. Was he a Demon King??

SB is not silent. The sudarshan is one of the weapons of Vishnu that Krishna & Balarama received from the chariot that came from the sky on the eve of their first battle against Jarasandha

No, Jarasandha wasn't a demon king. But his father had 2 wives & no sons, & a rishi gave him a mango and asked him to give it to his wife, who would bear him sons. The king didn't want to be partial to either wife, so he split the mango b/w them and each gave birth to a symmetric half of a baby. They abandoned it, but a rakshashi named Jara took the 2 halves & joined them, bringing it to life. The king then returned & reclaimed the baby.

As a result, the only way to kill Jarasandha was to split him symmetrically and make sure that the 2 halves couldn't rejoin

You are right. Here is it:

As Lord Govinda was thinking in this way, two chariots as effulgent as the sun suddenly descended from the sky. They were complete with drivers and equipment.

SB 10.50.12: The Lord's eternal divine weapons also appeared before Him spontaneously. Seeing these, r Ka, Lord of the senses, addressed Lord Sakaraa.

SB 10.50.13-14: [The Supreme Lord said:] My respected elder brother, see this danger which has beset Your dependents, the Yadus! And see, dear master, how Your personal chariot and favorite weapons have come before You. The purpose for which We have taken birth, My Lord, is to secure the welfare of Our devotees. Please now remove from the earth the burden of these twenty-three armies.

One question - was Balarama's plow a weapon or a farming accessory? B'cos other than him, I've never read of anybody using the plow as a weapon.

One thing I'm thankful for in Monday's episode, which I just saw - Balarama fought w/ his mace, and just used the plow to shatter the ground.

My favorite use of Balarama's plow was when he uprooted Hastinapur & put it in the middle of the Ganga. He should have floated it off near Madagascar 😈

There are communities which regard Balarama as the God of Agriculture and Krishna as the God of Animal Husbandry. Both go hand in hand. Hence Balarama with plough and Krishna with butter.

In war I guess he generally fought with bow/arrows and in close combat with mace.

Ha ha!! Had he floated if off to Madagascar then no MB war in India. Maybe Duryodhan would fought with the Zulus with Rhinos pulling the Zulu chariots😊
