Minakshi

The reason Krishna punished Ashwatthama was not so much the midnight massacre, vile as it was - it was for releasing the most deadly weapon, the Brahmashira, not on a combatant, but on the Pandava women. Arjun's & Ashwatthama's Brahmashiras had collided, and on Vyasa's request, Arjun revoked his weapon, but Ashwatthama couldn't. He then re-directed it @ the descendant of the Pandavas, which made it land on the Pandava women.

Krishna therefore swore that he'd preserve the kid, and also cursed Ashwatthama w/ being sentenced to leprosy. One thing that is inaccurate is the claim that Ashwatthama is immortal, or alive today, as claimed in another thread. Here is what Krishna told him:

The holy one said, "The fall of this mighty weapon will not be fruitless. The foetus will die. But being dead, it will live again and have a long life! As regards thyself, all wise men know thee for a coward and a sinful wretch! Always engaged in sinful acts, thou art the slayer of children. For this reason, thou must have to bear the fruit of these thy sins. For 3,000 years thou shalt wander over this earth, without a companion and without being able to talk with anyone. Alone and without anybody by thy side, thou shalt wander through diverse countries, O wretch, thou shalt have no place in the midst of men. The stench of pus and blood shall emanate from thee, and inaccessible forests and dreary moors shall be thy abode! Thou shalt wander over the Earth, O thou of sinful soul, with the weight of all diseases on thee.

In other words, Ashwatthama lived for 3000 years more b4 dying

Thanks Vrish, now I remember about his Brhmastra attacking Uttra's unborn child. About Krishna cursing him of not being able to talk to anyone, there are some claims of people have seen & talked to them. May be that was after 3000 yeras span was over. There was a news about him coming to a Devi's temple (can't recollect the name), offering fresh flowers every morning. So may be if he is alive now is allowed to worship too.

Please someone tell me info about Karna's wife & his son...What were their names?

His son fought or not in war?Who killed him ?

Duryodhan made him king of Anga...So earlier Anga was Hastinapur's part?

KARNA's wife was 'Vrushali'..
He had 9 sons out of which only 1 named, 'Vrishaketu' had survived in the war..after Karna's death, Arjuna took the guardianship of Vrishaketu..It is recorded that Arjun developed a great affection for his nephew, Vrishaketu and he trained him to be one of the greatest archers in the world..his 9 sons' names are as follows:-
1. Vrishaketu
2. Vrishasena
3. Satyasena
4. Sushena
5. Banasena
6. Prasena
7. Chitrasena
8. Shatrunjaya
9. Dvipata

@Proud-India

Yes, his sons took part in the war..his 8 sons (except Vrishaketu) were treacherously killed by the Pandavas..only Vrishaketu had survived the war..he didn't take an active participation in the war..Anga was not a part of Hastinapur..Hastinapur is now known as Delhi & Anga is now a part of Bihar's districts, Bhagalpur & Munger..
