Star Plus, which is launching mythological show 'Mahabharat' on September 16, has decided to bring alive its grandeur for the youth, by setting up a Mahabharat Museum in select malls across the country.

And guess what, TOI managed to get some exclusive images of the museum. It boasts of some striking pieces of jewellery, heavy weaponry and fineries, which have been used by the characters in the show.

Apart from this, a special 3D video of the sets will also be played at regular intervals. The virtual tour will take one through the magnificent Hastinapur palace, the beautiful Vrindavan and the abodes of Shakuni and Gandhari. That's not all. The channel has a 'Making Of Mahabharat' video to show the audiences what really went into making the show. As a special gesture, a few lucky women will even get a chance to adorn the jewellery on display.

Mahabharat Museum this weekend at R City Mall, Ghatkopar, and next weekend at Oberoi Mall, Goregaon.

The Amber Fort in Jaipur is a favourite with filmmakers and TV serial producers alike when it comes to shooting historical or mythological sequences. And now, the fort is soon going to witness the shoot of another epic - this time, the Mahabharat which is scheduled to air on Star Plus.
They are planning to shoot the introduction sequence of the Kauravas and Pandavas at Amber Fort."
At present, the team is also scouting for locations on the outskirts of Jaipur to shoot some war scenes. "The makers want to shoot in the city because it provides the perfect setting for the show. Also, the weather will be pleasant around that time," says the source,

adding that actors like Shaheer Sheikh (who's playing Arjun), Rohit Bhardwaj (playing Yudhisthira) and Arav Chowdhary (as Bhishma Pitamah) will be present in the city.

Mahabharat - promo

The oldest story told using today's best technology

Siddharth Kumar Tewary of Swastik Productions is going all out to make the epic mythological story, Mahabharat a legendary one with all the modern technology available to them. The 94-episode series, which was originally produced by BR Chopra and directed by Ravi Chopra, ran from 2 October 1988 to 24 June 1990 on DD National.

The new series of the same story has been the talk of the town ever since the promos hit the tube. We've been going over the new promos which has surprised and made us very curious. The show based on the life of Krishna, Pandavas, Duryodhan, Draupadi and the grand war between right and wrong has been delayed by three months, but the wait has been worth the while.

The promos look captivating, enchanting and really make us what to watch it. The story may not be new to it, but what makes this new series worth our while is the production quality and the treatment. The VFX used for the show is on par with a sci-fi Hollywood flick. The grand sets created in Rajasthan give the real feel of Mahabharat.

The costumes designed by Bhanu Athaiya seem intricate as they've looked into every small bit of the design work. The direction of photography will make you sit back and take notice and the music will keep ringing in your mind in a loop.

The actors cast for the show like Shaheer Sheikh, Praneet Bhatt, Sayantani Ghosh and Saurabh Raj Jain seem to be tailor-made for the role. Clearly shows that the makers have gone through several look tests for the magnum opus.

Mahabharat will definitely raise the bar for mythological shows in the future and will cream competitors like Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev. Take a look at the promos and tell us what you think BollywoodLifers.

"I'm on a liquid diet to get into Subhadra's avatar"-Veebha

Telly town actress Veebha Anand is trying hard to follow a strict liquid diet to give justice to her new mythological avatar Subhadra for the much-awaited show Mahabharat on Star Plus.

Experimenting with their looks for a role is not just limited to Bollywood stars these days, as our Telly Town dedicated actors are all willing to follow suit.

After garnering a lot of appreciation for her popular character Sugana in Colors super-hit show Balika Vadhu, actress Veebha Anand became a household name couple of years ago.

Capturing the golden opportunities on her way, the very talented actress went ahead with a lead role in the show Sanskaar Laxmi on Zee TV. After the show ended, Veebha also tried her hand in theater and her play Rishton Ka Live Telecast became quite famous.

To break away from the image of a typical desi girl, Veebha was recently seen portraying the character of a sex-worker in Vikas Gupta's new show Yeh Hai Aashiqui, which is based on unusual love stories prevailing in our society.

Talking about her work till now, Veebha believes that a variety of roles add flavors to her life and therefore, she prefers to keep experimenting with her characters in different shows! She says, "I'm an actor and I love to take up challenges in my life. In fact, I feel lucky to be able to live the life of different personalities and I enjoy it to the fullest. I hate being typecast and that is the precise reason I was on a self-imposed break until I got some interesting offers."

And now Veebha has bagged a meaty role in Siddharth Kumar Tewary's upcoming show Mahabharat on Star Plus. She will soon be making an appearance in a never before seen mythological avatar of Subhadra, who is Arjun's wife.

Regarding the same, a little birdie chirped, "Actress Veebha (Vibha) Anand is on a strict liquid diet these days, in order to shed out some weight for her new role in Mahabharat."

When asked Veebha, she too confirmed the same, saying, "Yes, I'll be playing Subhadra's character and as per the requirement of the role, I'm on a liquid diet these days. The costumes designed for the mythological role are bit revealing, so I'm trying to get into the required shape. Even though its a cameo but as an actor I have to do full justice to it."

Talking about the homework she is doing to prepare for Subhadra's role, Veebha says, "Other than getting into shape, I'm also working on my language and diction, as the scripts are in pure Hindi language and its bit difficult to remember. For the audition itself, I had given 50 takes, so just imagine." (Laughs)

On being asked what kind of other roles are on her wishlist, the actress went on to say that she is open to all kind of good work.

The actress will commence the shoot for the show Mahabharat from the 10th of this month.

Epic shoot for 'Mahabharat' at Amber Palace

Epic shoot for 'Mahabharat' at Amber Palace
Shooting of Mahabharat
TOI caught the team of the upcoming show 'Mahabharat' shooting at the Amber Palace on Friday. After shooting in the scenic locales of Jaisalmer, the crew is here for another week-long schedule. A huge set has been built for the show and actors, dressed up as characters from the epic, were spotted filming scenes in the soaring temperatures.

The film's sets at Jaleb Chowk and Baradari in the palace have become an added attraction for visiting tourists, who stop by during their tour of the palace to catch a glimpse of popular TV actors like Shaheer Sheikh, Pooja Sharma, Nissar Khan and Shafaq Naaz shooting for the show.

Talking about the architectural marvels of Rajasthan, which completely fit into the story, the show's producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary said, "Rajasthan forts and palaces have their own unique charm. And since we are shooting for an ancient epic, one had no better choice than Rajasthan. These architectural marvels give a perfect feel of the bygone era that we are trying to recreate." To make their portrayal more authentic, the show's actors have also attended special acting and diction classes.
