Hey everyone I'm back with a much awaited Rishbala SS
Hope you like it
Chapter 1(Madhu's POV)
"Champ, stop!" I yelled to my crazy dog. He kept running and wagging his tail at me.
"You crazy dog!" I yelled.
I was having trouble keeping up with him, even holding onto the leash. He had smelt something he liked, and he was the kind of dog that didn't stop at anything to get it. We were soon away from the main market and now in the narrow alleyways of the slums. Where the hell was this dog going?
We got deeper into an alley, where I caught the strong scent of chemical. Is this what he wanted? Champ stopped in front if a brick wall. At first I didn't see anything, but eventually following his nose, Champ nudged his nose against a shutter. Then I noticed that the bricks weren't set in place. I removed them one by one, eventually gaining access to the shutter.
"What say Champ? Should I open it?"
He wagged his tail and whimpered in excitement, scratching the shutter with his paws. I smiled at him and opened the shutter carefully.
It was dark and very quiet. There were old boxes and various things scattered around the place. I gripped Champ's leash tightly and walked inside. The dust quickly filled my airways and I coughed.
Then I saw a light ahead. And shadows of people.
"Our mission should be successful at any cost. If we fail, we will easily get caught by the authorities. Then our dream will only remain a dream." A man said in a low dark tone.
I made a hush signal to Champ, and tip-toed to the side of the open door, from where the voice came from.
"Is everything set?" He said.
"Yes, everything is set." Several others said in unison.
"Good. We will detonate the first bomb tomorrow at 12 PM sharp. Be prepared."
I quickly covered my mouth to avoid screaming. These guys were terrorists. I had to warn the police. I tried to escape, but then Champ started barking. I panicked and ran for the shutter, but it was too late. They surrounded.
"Looks like we've got an eavesdropper. What shall we do with her?"
"Bring her to our leader. He'll decide something about her." They both laughed out loud.
In just a few moments, I was strolling in the market to being a prisoner of despicable terrorists. They gripped my arms in a tight grasp and dragged me down the stairs. My feet skidded against each jagged stone stair. They were bleeding all over. I looked to my sides for Champ. He wasn't there. I panicked even more. Champ was like my guard dog. He must've escaped. I just prayed that he would bring help.
The terrorists tied me up to an iron chair and gagged me as well. A man walked up to me and out one foot on the chair. he looked like the leader. Only his eyes were visible, due to the cloth he wore over his face. He had piercing green eyes. Sweat and tears covered my face. I fought at my restraints, while they all gathered to laugh at me.
"You poor thing. So sad. You had to hear our plan and end up here. Tell me, who do you work for?" He asked.
He pulled off the gag for a moment.
"I don't work for anyone. I'm just an ordinary person." I said, panting.
"Oh really? Why were you here then?"
"My dog led me here. I got curious as well."
"Fiesty aren't you?" He said. "Name?"
"I'm not going to tell you anything?"
"NAME?" He yelled, squeezing my face between his fingers.
"Madhubala." I said. I glared at him.
"Sultan. Nice to meet you." He laughed evilly. "Hope you have a fun time dying."
He pulled out a gun and pointed it at my temple. I closed my eyes tightly, bracing for the worst.
"Three..."
"Two..."
"One..."
A gunshot sounded in the room. Was I dead? I opened my eyes to find myself in the same room. Sultan's arm was hit with a bullet. He looked towards the direction of the bullet. I looked as well, at my savior. He was tall and had a lean, muscular body. He had his arm raised with a shiny polished gun in his strong hands. His eyes were covered in thick sunglasses.
My face lit up in hope. I heard a dog bark. Champ came running towards me. He took the rope into his mouth and tugged at them, soon ripping them off of me.
The other terrorists aimed their guns at the man. But he was faster then them. One by one, he planted a bullet into each of their skulls, right into the center. The mysterious man lunged at Sultan, throwing punches and him trying to catch Sultan. But Sultan managed to escape.
"Damn!" He groaned. He turned to me. "Are you okay miss?" My savior asked.
"Yes." I said quietly.
Other men joined us in the room. They looked like cops of some sorts. They searched the room for information. The man turned back to me.
"Luckily I found your dog. Otherwise I wouldn't have found you or those bloody terrorists."
"Who are you?" I asked curiously.
"RAW agent Rishabh Kundra. I like to go by RK."
"Madhubala Malik. You can call me Madhu."
"Miss Madhu, you will have to come with me. I'm assuming you heard their plan. I need to tell me whatever you know. And possibly stay with me until they are brought to justice."
"Okay. I can bring my dog too?"
"Of course." He said politely.
"Thanks." I tried to get up, but my feet were injured badly. I couldn't get up without help.
"Let me carry you. I arranged for this to get treated." He said.
I watched him as he carried me in his arms, all the way to his car parked outside the slum. Champ followed behind, wagging his tail watching us. RK chuckled.
"Amazing dog you have there. What's his name?"
"Champ." I answered.
He took me to the nearest hospital, carrying me inside to the doctor as well. He watched silently as the doctor bandaged my feet.
"Doctor, can she be able to walk?"
"Absolutely not! The wounds need to heal before she puts pressure on them. Give it a few days."
"Okay." He said.
He picked me up and put me carefully on the car. Champ licked my face.
"Stop it Champ! You silly dog." I said, wiping my face with a handkerchief.
"You seem pretty calm for a girl who was almost killed by terrorists."
"I've been living around this stuff until my parents died. My papa was a gang leader. Everyday I see someone murdering another. My mama kept me strong and told me that I should never follow my papa's path. It will only lead to bloodshed. And here I am, brave as ever."
"Ahaannn...I Iike it. You're like a jungili billi." He paused. "Who do you live with then?"
"Just me and Champ. We support each other all the time.
RK started the engine and drove out of there. I told him where I live, but he skipped my house entirely.
"RK, where are you taking me?" I asked.
"To my house. The head of the terrorist group may be out looking to kill you. I need to keep you safe."
"But...I..."
"I know you are not comfortable with this. But you have no other choice. Either live or die. Which one?"
"Live."
"Good."
He parked his car outside a massive apartment building. He stepped out of the car and picked me up in his arms. He even managed to open the door while holding me, letting Champ out of the car. He grasped the leash, then led us inside.
"Hello RK sir." The security guard said, shooting us weird looks.
"Hi. Now stop staring and go unlock my door." He said, tossing the guard the keys. The guard went to the elevator.
"Not so fast. You take the stairs. And I want you to get there before me. Why? Because you need to get a workout once in a while."
The guard huffed out a long breath and darted up the stairs with the keys. RK laughed.
"Why did you do that?"
"Because I wanted to. I can have some fun, can't I?" He winked at me.
He pressed the elevator button for the topmost floor. I thought of the guard. Poor thing had to climb the stairs all the way to the top. Surprisingly, the guard was already there before us. He was coughing and panting like a he just ran a marathon.
"Good job. Now give me the keys." The guard handed him the keys.
I gazed at the grandeur of his home. It was a magnificent penthouse. Posh and modern. RK The lights were dimmed to give a warm ambience. A dog's barking was heard from behind the stairs. It ran up to RK and jumped onto him. Champ barked and wagged his tail even faster.
"Hey Princess! Miss me?" He ruffled the dog's head.
"You have a dog too!? She is so cute." I said.
"Like you, she is my only family." He said.
Champ seemed to have a liking towards Princess. He ran towards her and licked her side. He whimpered and put his paw on hers. Princess yelped in response. They looked so sweet together.
"Love at first sight it seems." RK chuckled. I smiled.
"Yeah it seems so."
"I almost forgot. Let me show you your room."
He proceeded to pick me up again, but I refused. He still picked me up anyways. He took me to a large room. It had a large four poster bed, complete with a large canopy draped on the frame. It was too beautiful to be a guest room.
"Get some rest. I will ask you questions in a few hours." He put me on the bed and closed the door behind him.
