DEDICATING THIS TO MY INSANE SISTERS...all of you...and you know why
Chapter 10(RK's POV)
After the kiss, I realized what I had felt for Madhu. I loved her, and I wanted to tell her my true feelings.
I got discharge from the hospital today. The doctor deemed me fit enough to go back home, given that I take the medications prescribed daily. Madhu and Mulund helped me out to the car, parked right in front of the hospital. Mukund sat in front with the driver, while Madhu sat next to me on the back. I watched her carefully. What did she want to tell me? She was looking out of the window, a small smile creeping up on her face. She was blushing. Why was she blushing? I wanted to know.
We reached my home, and Madhu immediately got up and helped me out. She hadn't said a single word the entire journey. Mukund followed, but Madhu stopped him.
"It's okay Mukund...I'll take care of him." She smiled at him.
"You sure?" She nodded in response. Mukund smiled back and left from there.
"Let's go RK.." She said, helping me inside.
She unlocked the door and pushed it inside. All I heard next was barking. Champ and Princess were running towards us, wagging their tails wildly.
"Who brought them back here?" I asked, puzzled.
"Mukund told me he left them here."
"The guard must've let him in." I said. Madhu led me inside and sat me down on the sofa.
"Let me get some water for you." She hurried away, coming back moments later with a glass of water in her hand. I took it, my fingers grazing hers in the handoff.
"Thanks Madhu." I said. She smiled.
She also forced me to take the bitter medication that was prescribed to me. It made me drowsy. She helped me into bed and left, closing the door behind her. She still didn't reveal what she was hiding. I would ask her when I woke up. I was too curious.
(Madhu's POV)
I had to make the moment special. Just telling him wouldn't suffice. I needed some decoration. But there was no trace of decor in his house whatsoever. Well, except some scented candles lying in a cupboard. I took those out and placed them around the living room area. I grabbed my purse and ran down to the flower shop nearby and bought a bouquet and a basket of roses.
Once I got back, I lit the candles and placed the bouquet on the coffee table. I removed the petals from the roses and made a large heart around the area.
"Perfect." I said happily. Now I just had to wait for RK to wake up. I skipped to the kitchen and made some khichadi for him.
(RK's POV)
I woke up a few hours later. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the clock. 7 pm. I propped myself up and walked slowly outside. It was darker than usual. I took a few steps outside and saw Madhu. She got up immediately and ran to help me. The pain subsided by her touch. I smiled at her.
"Why is it dark, Madhu?"
"You'll see." She blushed.
She walked me over to the living room. It was dimly lit with scented candles and roses petals placed in the shape of a heart all around the floor. On the coffee table laid a bouquet of flowers and a plate of khichadi.
"Madhu what is this?" I asked
"This is what I wanted to tell you." She took me over to the couch.
"What do you mean?" She cupped my face with her hands.
"RK...I love you." She said, tears filling her eyes.
My world froze. I felt happiness and excitement all at once. She loved me too. My emotions went in a frenzy. I pulled her close to me by her delicate waist. I leaned closer to her ear, finally revealing my feelings to her.
"I love you too Madhu." I said. I took her face in my hands and laid a kiss on her pink lips. I leaned in closer and sucked on her lips, taking her in completely. She grabbed handfuls of my hair and continued the kiss until we both ran out of breath. She whispered something to me.
"Say it again RK.."
"Say what?" I nuzzled her cheek with mine.
"That you love me..."
"I love you...I love you, Madhubala Malik." I held her tightly, crushing her against my chest.
Our love was complete. After all this running and the wild goose chase, we could finally spend some time with each other. Time that had no room for guns and fighting. Just love, nothing else.
My stomach growled, ruining the perfect moment between us. Madhu giggled and pulled me to the couch with her, taking the plate of khichadi in her hands.
"Let me feed you tonight." She said, stuffing a spoonful into my mouth. I hated khichadi, but eating it from her hands made it taste better.
"Do you like it?" She asked. I nodded, which made her smile.
I watched her lovingly as she fed me. Her cheeks turned pink and she ran off as soon as the plate was empty. I grabbed her hand when she came back, and pulled her down onto my chest.
"RK, be careful. Your wound hasn't healed yet."
"I'll be fine. As long as you are with me." I caressed her cheek.
"I'll always be with you RK." She said.
She laid her head on my chest, making herself and myself comfortable. We fell asleep in each other's arms.
(8 months later...)
(Madhu's POV)
Four little puppies were chasing each other around the room, and one was sitting next to me. RK and I watched them play with each other as I knitted a sweater for our baby. I was 7 months pregnant. Princess and Champ were watching their puppies play from the corner. There were four girls...and one boy...and I took the responsibility of naming them. Nina, Kavya, Sudha, Priyal, and Rohan.
Meanwhile, RK was busy talking to the baby.
"I sure hope you're a boy. There are too many girls in this house." He teased. I smacked his head.
"It's a girl." I argued. "You can handle one more."
"And I think it's a boy." He kissed my baby bump. "Right baby?"
I felt a kick right when he asked the question. Rohan barked as well. He smiled in triumph.
"Told you Madhu." He smirked. "Baby and Rohan agree with me."
"We'll see when the time comes." I crossed my arms. He laughed.
This moment was broken by a loud smack. We turned to look from where it came from. And there we find that Nina ran into the bookshelf, but emerged unfazed by the accident. She made a small whimper and then continued to run across the room, now chasing Priyal around until Priyal jumped into the bathtub. Kavya and Sudha were playing tug-of-war with a scarf. Rohan was watching all of this unfold from the couch. At the end of their antics, the foursome pounced on him, and the playful batting of paws began.
"Our baby will have interesting company." RK laughed. I had to agree.
(2 months later...)
(RK's POV)
I paced back and forth in front of the delivery room. I wanted to be with her at the time like this, but I wasn't allowed in. Mukund stood behind me, trying to help me calm down. I wouldn't until Madhu was in front of my eyes.
A few minutes later, the cries of a baby could be heard. I stopped pacing and waited eagerly for the doctor to come out. She did a few moments later.
"Congrats Mr.Kundra...it's a boy." She shook my hand and let me inside.
There I saw one of the most beautiful things in my life. Our child. Madhu was cradling him in her arms, a wide smile on her lips. She looked at me, the glow on her face evident.
"RK look. Isn't he adorable?" She exclaimed. I sat down next to her and took him in my arms.
He squirmed about in the blanket that was wrapped around him. I kissed his forehead.
"What should we name him?"
"Hmmm...how about Rehaan?" I suggested. Her eyes sparkled.
"I love it. Our baby's name will be Rehaan." She took him into her arms again. "Do you like that, Rehaan?" He cooed in response.
Mukund joined us shortly, with a camera in hand.
"Smile for the camera." He said. We got into the shot and he clicked away.
I looked at Madhu and how happy she was. I gave her a small kiss on the cheek. She looked at me and kissed me back, this time on the lips.
"I love you Madhu.. " I said.
"I love you too RK." She whispered back. Rehaan cooed again.
"And we love you Rehaan." We said in unison.
Now our family, our lives were complete. Operation Love was a success.
