Pennu, welcome back đ¤
Congratulations to the MEIEJ team for completing 600 episodes, an achievement that appears to have largely gone unnoticed đđź
The much dreaded episode aired and opened a can of worms. It was bitter pill to swallow and sad to see such means used to create a love-hate track. No doubt, this is a huge risk and don't know if this gamble will pay off. In my book, ST & co. failed with the unwedding too. In the current situation, the deed is horrifying enuf, so will the turnaround be spectacular? Just when things were starting to take shape, this turn of events has been most unfortunate.
When I compare the trauma post unwedding to the one post this incident, the one during unwedding was more heart wrenching. This time around the execution has been lacking except for the morning after scenario and the chawl scene at night. Is it that SM had gone so numb at that time and was led by RK or Paddy like a rag doll, whereas this time around, JM is taking charge and doing things on her own? Or is it that during unwedding, SM took off her mangalsutra while JM continues to wear it, which is confusing?
For me, it will belittle the trauma and take the outrage of the deed away should they now show Madhu falsely alleging rape. Then it serves no purpose of showing the deed in the first place. Also, NF can't debase both the leads at the same time, particularly the female lead. Even the male lead has been left with room for realization. If there is a false accusation at this point, it gives credence to all the opinions that state a woman is responsible for rape and also the fact that women use it for their advantage. I doubt that is the purpose behind the track.
In no way, I am defending Raja's actions here but he has been given plenty of redeeming qualities beneath the surface. Yes, his background is one that offers an explanation of his thinking coz aren't we all products of our upbringing and environment, amongst other factors. When I compare Raja to another character in a show on SP, I find a huge difference between them when both have committed the same deed. I categorize Raja's deed as a fault, albeit a huge one, which needs to be corrected but the other's a sin coz he does not appear to have learnt anything.
There is usually a difference between a person who thinks that repeating a crime is ok and a first time offender. Aren't the laws made and sentences issued in accordance as well? Raja can be redeemed coz he genuinely loves JM. When JM was crying, he said to her don't cry, I will say sorry. Problem here is that he is not understanding the gravity of the situation. His heart is in the right place coz he would never have committed the deed when sober. Bhanu had to not just get Raja drunk but drug him as well. Even then when JM refused to open the door, Raja turned back and walked away but Bhanu instigated him to turn back and break the door. With his senses impaired, Raja did just that. In the village track, their first night was spent with JM sleeping on the floor and Raja sleeping on a chair with a stick where he told JM that he would keep a watch over her while sleeping. JM wanted to move back to the city and Raja agreed coz he feared JM's life in danger. There are many such examples in the show that prove he loves her and this is something that JM is overlooking deliberately coz I feel that she does not want to be weakened in her resolve. If she feels the need to step away, she is right too coz she is under no obligation as this is not what she signed up for.
So, with Raja in jail, events have taken a horrific turn with Baiji dying, Dauji who could not bear to be separated from Raja seems to have severed all ties with him and Bhanu yet again managing to achieve his evil ends. The distance we travel from this point on will depend on how much time is granted to the show.
