Episode 368 Discussion: 4th Sept 2013

Welcome to the Episode discussion thread which we call as Viewer's and Reader's Respite. That's very apt, don't you think ? 😉. And that proves our objective.

Objective behind the thread is
  1. It helps in keeping the forum clean without much litter. People just need to fall in a habit.
  2. We can have it like breathers at first followed by analysis.
  3. It also helps like-minded souls and pals bond and gel together to drop in their thoughts for themselves as breathers and for their friends as a peep into the episode and for others to post their reviews.
  4. And those from different time-zones, who do not get to watch the episode at this time of telecast (Indian 8:30 PM), without any worry to trace or keep track of all their buddy's posts, they can come here, read with leisure and later post their analysis after watching it from their Time zones.

Note for Newcomers to this thread.
Extremist thoughts and moralizing thoughts are not welcome over this thread. It is entertainment show we are watching. The channel calls their programs as entertainment and we are watching the show. Discussions are welcome in light hearted and in realistic manner. Moral policing is not appreciated. We do not want to feel stifled into that kind of atmosphere here.

There are several other social welfare sites that are there to discuss the genuine issues. If for some reason, it is felt that social concerns have to be addressed and ethical and moral responsibility needs to be exercised for watching entertainment, then; certainly the forum is an open place to create separate ATs and build up that kind of propaganda.

Please heed to this as direct request and conditional requirement to participate in this thread. Strong words such as psychopaths unless used in show, need not be used to instigate riotous atmosphere or start sermonizing.

POINTERS for Writing/Posting of your reviews and thoughts over this EDT
  1. Do not litter the thread with chit-chat conversations. A little is permitted to have the friendly atmosphere, but when you feel like chatting more, it is desired you take your conversation with your buddies to alternate venues like chat clubs, pm mode etc.
  2. Quoting Policy: It is desired that people refrain from single, double, triple and multiple quoting of posts on a repetitive basis. They can pick out the parts that they like to quote as opposed to quoting the entire post. It is often seen that we have to scroll through the pages when all they have done is quoting and more quoting with one line response to the actual post. IF has a rule that more than three times quoting is not allowed. But nowadays as people read IF posts over phone, it is preferred that people do not quote longer posts and just extract the portions of the post that they like to respond to and if they still find it relevant to their thought process then get the entire quoted text.
  3. Regulate the font size. Keep remembering that. It is really not pleasing to see big bolded letters for no special reason.
  4. The thread becomes a mess when you give your review and do not REST for sometime until others have posted. Please understand, respites or reviews; once or twice are good for few pages...don't make a regular chat thread with your reiterating/whining/complaining on the same point. For the online readers, the thread becomes unpleasant read. There is a separate Complaints thread in Main Forum.
  5. When episodic content is emotional, take a deep breath, give a good lengthy review; that acts as your vent in one single post...and make an exit to calm down your nerves if you still are possessed by only what you've seen.

For those who cannot watch can have the Live/Written Updates.

Note:
  • There are various other threads all over the forum. Please check out those as well. This is just one choice out of so many.
  • Readers are encouraged to post links of other members posts which had been "delightful read" towards analysis of episodic event/s or character analysis. It becomes an easy navigation in the myriad of posts and pages and can easily be overlooked.
  • The link to present day ED thread is always provided in the previous one discussed. Those who participated in previous thread can go to my posts and check the previous thread to get access to new link.

I can't believe today's episode was written by the same team who wrote the dahi handi episodes! What a huge difference good actors make! And if they are backed by logical writing, then it is sone pe suhaagaa 👍🏼

Maybe it is the Sultan effect but I loved everything about today's episode -

- Loved how Behl and Kukkuji convinced the producers to sign the letter but also agreed later that the same producers will go begging to RK if they get a chance. Logic, that lost quality - LOGIC, is back in MEIEJ 👏

- Loved the family moments between Madhu, Radhaji, Deepali and Sikky. Flowed naturally and put a smile on my face 😃

- RK comes back in his true element in Kukkuji's presence 😛 Kaan taras gaye the RK ki BBB sunne ke liye 🥳

- Sikky shows real anger after a long time on seeing his father get insulted

- Finally, really glad to see Raza Murad back in the show. He can just lift any scene just with his presence. The way his voice modulation changes while talking to each character - dismissive with Sikky, sweetly sarcastic with Madhu, affectionate with Deepali (surprising!), and openly hostile with RK.

The beginning is promising CVs. Don't lose steam midway!

looking for some respite here?
so we have Madhu jhaado marooing , dusting shusting..If RK had not said yest. ke Madhu jaisi ek hi hai toh I wud have challenged him to bring one girl in front of me who has army of servants for jhadoo pocha safai bartan khana, yet she finds pleasure in doing it !

we had Radha order chalaoing ! totally fake, artificial OTT MIL DIL scene.. sugar coated romance b/w MIL DIL is always unbelievable for me so i'll skip this one ..

we had Dips joke marooing..Dips, my darling, the reigning queen of RK mansion 🤣 I'm very biased to her, I love her very much, I don't want her out..if Madhu can stay, why not Dips? She was very natural with her jokes on Sikky & her taunt marooing Madhu (which Madhu obviously didn't get ) , makhan marooing Daddyji..she's a delight to watch..

we had Sikky & chipkali...hilarious scenes..and I love his chemistry with his Daddyji...all nonsense but nonsense is better than the sense in MBland these days...

My fav. scenes, 2 of them

The producers meeting and deciding to put a ban on RK..Raza Murad's re-entry was superb..How did he become the President of the Association, I'm not gonna ask these questions..after jhelofying the pile of clunk for so long, nothing is surprising for me..Infact, it's good that they made Kukuji powerful...it will have an impact on ghar ki politics which will be fun to watch & of course, RK's life...Kukuji's scene with Amar in private was again very good and believable...Kukuji is right that the producers may line up in front of RK's house tomorrow so he won't be affected by this ban..He's the reigning superstar of the industry...the two of you, bring it on ! 👏

RK welcoming Kukuji , RK style ...Welcome to the RK Hotel, ur room no. is so and so 🤣 Sorry Kukuji, haraamkhor ke saath aise hi baat karni padti hai...here, RK is not wrong..He and his family are living off RK's money from so many years like parasites, yet, act as if they are the owners ...Radhaji, as always, Mrs Ostrich bankar chai lene chali gayi...allz well in her khushi sansar ! RK taunting him for becoming the President was nice...so was the last scene where Kukuji said "RK ki ulti ginti shuru" !

Precap, Income tax raid ? isn't it very common?

I have to say I loved today's episode! I enjoyed the whole thing and found it engaging! I liked the family scenes in the beginning between Madhu, Radha, Sikki, and Dipali. Very cute! I kinda wish we could get those types of scenes for a few days before the the drama starts. I'm hoping all upcoming episodes are like this!! I'm glad Raza Murad is back!! All actors did a phenomenal job!!

Good episode. Hopefully, we can get our serial back on track. No RM scenes and yet the episode was engaging...
I liked:
  • The private convo between kukkuji and Amar Behl...we were talking about the ban, how can a producers guild ban RK, a superstar? And today Kukkuji reiterated the point. THis is how I remember MBEIEJ, as it was...bloopers admitted and explained away logically. Now we have to see how exactly his plan will work, given that he is aware of RK's stardom and his clout within the industry.
  • The family scene...everyone in character. Dipali joining in👏. For a few minutes they actually seemed like a cute, joint family.
  • Madhu...time pass ke liye dusting. 😆😆. Guys, if the heroine track does not go ahead, this is what we will be subjected to. To give her credit, dusting is therapeutic, it must help to overcome the trauma she went through. 🤣
  • RK's scene with Kukkuji...dialogues, action, reactions...everything seemed to remind me of the golden days of MBEIEJ. Good omen👏.
I did'nt particularly dislike too much today, except some bits of clunk. It was an episode with some thehraav, which was a relief.

"Welcome to RK hotel parasite no 3"
Welcome to RK hotel,ur room number, sorry room full u can go...biwi right from morning my left eye is fluttering thought something would happen and look who's returned...
wht a way to welcome Kukuji by RK...this has to be the best dialogue and best moment of the episode... nice that the CV's have brought the veteran actor back in the show with a strong role...
The producers hold a meeting where Amar tells them to impose ban on RK...Kukuji enters as the head of the ph guild...and assures the producers that will ban RK...but in private Kuku tells Amar that RK's the reigning superstar of the industry... so the ban won't affect him as the producers may line up in front of RK's house tomorrow...
Madhu,Radha,Dips and Sikky cleaning was a light hearted scene...
wht a diff good actors make to the scenes...commendable job by all the actors 👏...

Today was all about building up the drama, which was well done.
  • RK's stance hardens. He tells Madhu that he hasn't even given himself the right to say anything about her, much less anyone else. So he is justified in slapping Amar Behl, and doesn't want to make amends. (I agree, the man shot at a LV who tore his wife's blouse. For somebody else to cast vile aspersions on his wife, in her own home demands some retribution.) I did like though that Madhu tried to make him see reason.
  • On the other hand, Amar Behl is also resolute in his desire to bring RK down. Kukuji, smarting under the memories of all the old insults, graciously agrees to get RK banned PS: All those old scenes FB made me feel heavily nostalgic. RK, RK
  • The Producers Association, at the behest of the dynamic duo of Amar Behl and Kukuji bans RK. Looks like the two have some more dirty tricks up their alley. More to come later, I guess. The precap was one indication.
  • Madhu in spring-cleaning mood, out with the old junk etc. All with the objective of highlighting the mysterious closet. And Bittuji's very cryptic looks.
  • Some camaraderie and comedy scenes, to fill time until Kukuji arrives home, lizard on head.
  • RK welcomes Kukuji back in his own inimitable style. But every dog has its day, and Kukuji is gleefully anticipating his.

The Precap: Raid! Raid!

At least in one aspect, we're back to the good old days of MEIEJ - every actor currently in the story is a superb performer.⭐️

Secondly, alongside RK's adoration and protectiveness of his wife, his hard contemptuous persona was finally back as well.

Thirdly, Madhu and Radha as a united force in playing 'happy family' incorporating Kukku and Dipali, and expecting RK to be pleasant.🥱
And yet both wife and mother would stop if RK were to put his foot down and stick to that.

Madhu will not draw off to a halfway point.
She'll only break off completely and ruthlessly against the Bhatias if RK stops playing refugee centre to Radha's other family even while refusing to truly consider them kin.
RK can't expect Madhu to join him in simultaneously playing aegis and turning a contemptuous blind eye to the Bhatia trio who have been living off him for years.
Madhu can't manage a middle ground in anything to do with him.
She'll hold every relationship associated with him as something to be preserved until she knows for sure that he wants nothing more to do with any or all of them. At which point they could all vanish into thin air and she could care less - and that's not likely to be an exaggeration by much.

Likewise, Radha for whom only two things matter in the world - her son and her socially approved image.
When it was a matter of Padmini, Radha had all the right reasons why Padmini should discard the weight of the marriage to Balraj (which was already legally invalidated unless she wished to maintain it) and even marry Shamsher thereafter.
Every one of those reasons was equally applicable to the discarding of Radha's marriage to Kukku.
But unfortunately for Radha, her traditional social image concern will not permit her to get proactive on her own behalf, and neither RK nor Padmini have pushed for her to discard Kukku.
And the only way she would act on her own initiative to discard the marital bond with Kukku is if she truly believes she would otherwise lose her son completely - not merely in an extremely estranged manner as in varying degrees until now, because that does not motivate Radha enough to stop vacillating.
She has got proactive so far - firmly and shrewdly - only in the two situations when RK and Madhu were likely to become distant from each other, which would also represent Radha losing Madhu as the one person assured to initiate or preserve Radha's reconciliation with her son.

So long as RK makes neither a firm threat to totally break off his relationship with his mother, and is also unwilling to act proactively to terminate in his mother's life the despicable stagnant marital bond that he sought to terminate in his mother-in-law's, Radha will be content to play 'happy family' and permit the miserable familial situation to continue so that she can - in however routinely unpleasant a way - hold on to both her son and her traditional sympathizable image in society.

I'm content to see as little of the three Mallick women as possible.
Roma was always irritatingly flashy and endurable in very small doses.
Arti Puri as Trishna, though good as an actor in some facets, seemed not quite as stellar an actor as the rest, though she may improve.
And while Padmini - both in characterization and acting - was a pleasure to watch, the extent of her clunky behaviour in the past several months makes it difficult now to watch any scenes of her. Admittedly unfair, but she's not RK or Madhu that one may curse the clunk and love the characters anyway.

Shamsher Mallick as enacted by Bhupinder Singh was a memorable character. Better that he remain missing than another actor make all flashbacks nonviable.

All in all, a good episode, though this is feeling rather like the serial's gradual recovery day-by-day from a prolonged illness.😊 Hoping for the standards to keep getting restored to former levels so that entire episodes may be not merely liked very much but loved.😳
