Firstly for your post to make sense..one needs to know what the word EMPATHY means...and unfortunately you will be surprised as to how many here will not even know the meaning of the word...

Empathy:
Identification with and understanding of another's situation, feelings, and motives.
The ability to understand another person's circumstances, point of view, thoughts, and feelings. When experiencing empathy, you are able to understand someone else's internal experiences.

Some people have a great deal of sympathy for rk because they are able to relate to the possibilty or reality of losing their dad, or having an uncaring stepdad. Having a family and enough financial security having a roof over their heads, food and unlimited access to internet, removes some people from being able to put themselves in the place of a street urchin on the streets of mumbai and think about how life would be like for them. Also the rigidness of what is right and wrong when it comes to killing...and the cvs have for this very reason made this character to be a gangster who has killed many times. Besides, I think the way so many see it...why imagine yourself as a sadakchaap when you can picture yourself as rk superstar or his biwi!! lolll

But more than any of this...its much more dumber than that...VD plays rk and therefore rk is the hero. Ergo...whatever rk does is justified or poor thing...its understandable. Any character played by vd has to be a hero. Bas. Now what if what he is doing is not looking heroic or good? Bash down the other guy. If he can be made to look bad then, it makes rk look good or not so bad. Sadly it really is just this...phangirling. And that too not by teenagers alone..that would be understandable but women in their twenties!! Oh and if you are not a vd fan but a dd fan, then its better that she is with a superstar rather then a gangster...so what if he abuses her!

Sultan is a joy to watch, here is a man who has been through so much, yet he has such sensitivity and depth of character. And oh yes he has that ability his bhains bhai lacks completely...to empathise!! Look how he has been with padmini, with madhu. Im really looking forward to seeing him with his mother!

You think the PH, the Channel, the people who are footing the bill for the show to even air on Colors TV are fools and idiots that they bring in a character without any basis and spend their money to entertain YOU and YOUR ILK???

Who are you to decide what is NEEDED, who is NEEDED and WHY? How do you KNOW? How can you make a judgement call? You like what they give you, watch it, you don't like it, don't watch it, PERIOD.

Sunflower: I was attacking the premise that "Sultan is not needed" which is an all-pervading statement that springs from presuming that we know everything and anything and all the things. Is that not a delusion that we harbor that we know everything?

My intention was not attack you as I value your opinion and comment but was to point out the fallacy in your/my/our thinking.
