1. On Drashti's interviews and her not using 'professional' words!

  • Your argument is totally flawed here going by your expectations of an interview
  • Her profession is 'Acting' ... the clients are not limited to top MNCs suited up honchos
  • What she does is interact in a way that puts others at ease - it helps reporters, it helps the audience to connect with her easily..
  • Does she use bad words? No. Does her as you call it 'over the top' attitude bugs others? No. Infact, very clearly she is loved by many... so exactly why should she go all Brit making her audience feel disconnected?
2. On Senti..
  • Heard of Colloquialism???
  • Also, like everything else vocabulary are also used as per the occasions - formal speech needs to be used in formal occasions

  • A purist- and any purist who is extremely learned in their field would hate to see any deviations. I agree.. but hey, that;s the way world is..
  • And, most importantly, if you have to judge someone's ability, better have the conversation with that person - with Drashti, do you know her personally? How much of her English have you heard? The few interviews I have seen, her pronunciation was just fine and so was the grammar...

  • Lastly, languages change!!!.. Whether you like it or not...nothing is self sufficing..
  • Try speaking your 'formal' language full of heavy words next time you get an opportunity to hang out with people at a bar chatting for fun!!.. 😆😆

3. Over the top attitude
  • Let's go by your observation and say she does have this attitude..so what??????
  • A girl has her own attitude.. you don't like it..off you go in another direction..there are others who like it..
  • This world was never meant to be a place for robots - doing everything by the code book..😃...
  • Relax..on the language bit...one just needs to be appropriate in a given group and a given situation.. !!!.. Don't over analyze importance of things..you live and you die.. 🤣

Side note: Language is a tool to communicate - communication a process to express ourselves... so if someone has an alternative or better way to communicate with intended audience..why bang heads over unnecessary debate!!! 😆🤣

i completely agree you 👏

Also, Drashti is giving an interview where she should conduct herself within a professional manner. If I were involved in the entertainment industry, I would do the same. I'm sorry, but using words like "kick ass" is not cool! Also, when you are in the public eye, you have to be prepared to be judged. It comes with the territory!

Says who..You???????????

Thats a laugh!!

Dont like , dont watch...go watch Canadian celebs who allegedly behave professionally by not using words like kick ass...obviously, you live in an alternate universe coz in mine Canadian celebs like J bieber and Michael Buble have used the word kick ass in live shows that ive attended...

Again, senti is a slang word made up by Indians and only spoken by Indians. It sounds ridiculous and once again, I repeat, no one outside of India uses the word "senti". With that, I would like to conclude this discussion. My point has been made.

why we should care if SENTI is used outside or not... We live in INDIA...

Oh ok.. you never clarified in the beginning that your debate is limited to certain boundaries.. what is it? Country, State, county, village?

You were talking of English.. and you are generalizing by saying outside India.. FYI .. there are various variants of English outside India too..😊

Also,

If you are an American: "Yo Man!" just sounds plain stupid...😆..in India..atleast..😊.. Its not polite!
If you are English/UK: You must be really depressed anyhow.. with so many 'new' words that Engish had to borrow.. 😊

I got a little mean there, sorry.. but honestly, now I am confused what is your point and what is it you wanted to debate in the first place -

A list of words that Indians use and is not used elsewhere..

Oh dear!.. Not to worry.. globalization will catch up with the West..😆..and definitely with the geographical boundary that your debate is limited to..

( I still don't know which geography are we discussing!!!)..
