Hi everyone! As most of you can probably see, a bunch of comments haven't been liked by me yet on the previous pages. That's because I haven't read through them yet! I plan on doing that soon. I apologize. I actually just started my summer course and it goes on for the next six weeks at an extremely fast pace. Anyways, I hope you all like this part! Don't be upset about it ending tomorrow...because there will be an extra 5 updates from RK/Adi's povs. :)
Chapter Forty-Nine – The Wedding Shock
I opened my eyes slowly to find myself laying bare next to a bare RK. I smiled as I felt his arm around my waist and I gently caressed his chest.
"Mmm…Madhu…"
He slowly opened his eyes and turned to stare at me. As he looked down at me, I was reminded of our night spent together. I instantly sat up as I came to a sudden realization.
"We went all the way…"
I heard him sigh as he sat up himself. He placed his arm around my shoulders as I turned my head to stare at him in shock.
"Sorry, I guess I couldn't control myself last night Madhu. But you didn't stop me either."
I placed my face in my hands as I worried about the possible outcome of how far we had gone the previous night. I felt him leave my side and get off the bed. I looked up at him after a moment and saw him standing there with his sweats on. He always took my breath away, but I couldn't let him do that to me this time. I swallowed as he began to walk back towards me. I kept my eyes on him as he came to bend over me. I raised the covers up to my shoulders and stared into his eyes.
"Neha's waiting downstairs. Congratulations in advance for your wedding Miss Madhubala Malik. I'll always love you."
I closed my eyes as he kissed my forehead. A moment later I opened my eyes. I felt a crushing pain in my chest, as he no longer stood in the room in front of me. I got out of bed and quickly slid on my clothes, which laid on the ground. I ran out of RK's room and looked down the stairs in hope to see him, but he was nowhere to be seen. Instead I saw Neha look up at me. She held a big package in her hands and I knew exactly what it was. I walked into my room as I saw her coming up the stairs. I sat down on the edge of my bed and waited for her to enter my room. She handed me the package and I opened it up. I pulled out the letter first and read it.
Dear Madhu,
The time has finally come. I've been waiting for this moment for weeks. Neha will get you ready in the wedding lengha and jewelry which you're probably holding in your hands right now. I'll see you at the altar. I've informed the driver where to take you. Make sure you look your very best. I love you. I can't wait to see you. And I can't wait to put a smile on your face.
Yours, Adi
I folded up the letter and stared down at the Kundra Fashion red and gold wedding lengha in my hands. I couldn't believe what I was going to do. It was a life-changing decision and I hadn't even had the chance to think straight about it.
"Ma'am, please get changed into that lengha. I'll be waiting here."
"Neha…where's RK?"
"He ran out of the doors this morning ma'am."
"Oh…"
I sighed in despair and went to get changed into the lengha. As I walked out, I took a seat down at a stool in front of a mirror. I stared at myself silently in the mirror as Neha placed all my jewelry where it belonged. I continued to tell myself in my head that what I was doing was right, but the look on my face showed clearly how unhappy I was. I raised my eyes to stare at Neha through the mirror as she put my earrings on for me.
"Is RK back yet?"
"Still haven't seen him ma'am. I think he left for the wedding."
I knew RK wouldn't be present at the wedding, so I knew that Neha was wrong. I wondered where he was; I hoped that he was okay. I remembered back to his words in the morning, congratulations in advance for your wedding Miss Madhubala Malik.
"All done."
Neha's voice brought me out of my thoughts and I looked at myself in the mirror. Everything looked perfect, except one thing was missing. The most important thing. I closed my eyes and let a believable smile cross my face. I slowly opened my eyes and everything looked fine in the mirror. I looked happy, which is all I wanted to look in front of Adi.
"You look beautiful ma'am."
"Thank you Neha."
"The car is waiting for you outside. I'll see you at your wedding."
I nodded my head and got up.
---
I sat at the altar, alone. I saw familiar faces of workers who I had only seen once or twice before. I couldn't place a name to their faces but it felt nice to know they weren't all unfamiliar. My nerves refused to calm down as I waited for the moment when Adi would walk in and claim me as his by marrying me. As I sat, staring into the fire at the altar in front of me, I heard voices beginning to speak behind me. My head shot around to see Adi walking in. He wore baby blue and silver wedding clothes and I stared down at mine. We didn't match. Had he made a mistake? I stood up and turned to see him walking towards me with his adorable smile. Could he not see that we weren't matching? I walked towards him and met him halfway.
"Adi, why aren't you wearing…"
"There's something I've been meaning to tell you."
Just as I was about to speak, I saw a girl wearing a baby blue and silver lengha walking into the room. I heard muttering around the room and gasps as people wondered what was going on. They seemed just as confused as I was. The girl had her dupatta over hear head which hung low, so I couldn't see her face. I exchanged a look between the both of them, shocked. I looked at Adi but his smile refused to leave his face.
"Who's…that…"
She came to a stop next to Adi and I watched as he placed his arm around her shoulders. I never thought that Adi would cause me emotional pain. Had I been played with all along? He slowly grabbed her dupatta and lifted it, revealing her face.
"PRIYA?!"
I screamed as Supriya came into full view. My best friend, who I hadn't seen in years. At least I felt as though I hadn't seen her in years but I remembered that I seen her a few times in the past few weeks.
"Now you finally remember me."
She smiled and put out her arms. I hugged her. It was just the hug I needed. She had always been the comforting type. Whenever RK and I had a minor argument, she always made me see reason and feel better.
"I missed you so much Priya."
"Oh you have no idea how much I missed you Madhu."
As I pulled out of the hug, I remembered Adi standing there. I stepped back and stared at Adi and Supriya.
"Wait, what's happening?"
"Madhu, Supriya and I have been dating since the age of 18. After you went missing, we found comfort in each other."
"What are you saying Adi…"
"I'm saying that today I'm marrying Supriya, not you."
I didn't really feel hurt. I guess I was kind of glad I was out of the wedding, but it bothered me that he had played with me that entire time.
"But…if I'm not marrying you, then who am I marrying?"
Adi chuckled and then turned around to stare at the door. I followed his eyes.
"Come in."
As I heard Adi call someone, I froze, wondering what he had planned.
