confused about resignation letter

I am confused about Bittuji's resignation letter.

First, the letter says effective August he will quit. August??? How can that be when Bittuji hands over his cell phones to RK??

Second, the date on the bottom of the letter says Feb 2, 2013. Feb 2????

No wonder the CV's are always behind on celebrations!!!
