Rishabh's mother said so many things about Rishabh not giving Maddy the respect of a wife and the lady of the family. But all that Rishabh remembered was his mother asking Maddy to go home for the ritual of 'Pagpheraa'. Later , outside his vanity van at the studio , his insecurity , his latent fear that he will lose her to someone , his relief that Maddy didn't even once nod at his mother's suggestion or even look at him in the hope that he will take her to Paddy's house ' all this comes gushing to the surface when he holds her by her waist and grins at her with smug happiness that Maddy chose him over her mother. Since Rishabh is so arrogant , opaque and cosmetically heartless, one cannot see his latent insecurity that Maddy will someday choose someone else over him ' you cannot see his happiness and his security at the thought that she is right here in front of him, close enough to touch. Rishabh Kundra , somewhere , lives in the security of having Maddy 101% committed and dedicated to him ' but with a paradoxical parallel insecurity of Maddy repeating what everyone else did to him ' abandonment.
The accident at the studio was not a big deal at all because the superstar was safe - it was just a random spotgirl who has got slightly hurt and done an 'ehsaan' on him. At the most , in real life , the lightman and the fixers would be scolded or at most fired if the team gets really angry. But nobody is going to stop the shoot, call a doctor for a small cut , stop everything until the supplier company owner shows up or unless the studio owner comes and apologizes to a spot girl? But Rishabh did it and did it with strict fury - he didn't care about the shoot, the producer's money , the team's working hours , the comfort of his co stars. He just wanted Maddy to be the center of attention and 'respect'. Its not in him to care , to be grateful , to show concern ' he is not capable of all that as of now. But he is human and what happens with Maddy and who does it makes a difference to him. He could not rush and see how much Maddy's hand was bleeding , he couldn't ask her if she was okay ' infact , he was not worried about what could have happened to him . His reaction to Maddy's wound came bursting out in flaring temper - he ravaged the whole team, even screamed at BittuG for worrying about the shoot and him and not about Maddy . Stop everything ' get the owner ' get a doctor ' am not doing anything or giving a single close until this is sorted.
Now, look at Madhubala Rishabh Kundra. She didn't pay a single heed to her mom-in-law saying that Maddy has a possibility of going and seeing her mother. She honours her commitment to Rishabh and with complete sincerity. She has seen how wild and cranky he went when she chose Maalik over him and the insecure empty hollow he lives in. She did everything without a single protest - standing outside his van with the bag , she doesn't understand his possessive grips and his gleeful smug grins when she chooses him over everyone else but she doesn't complain. Rishabh may think he is degrading Maddy by asking her to hold an umbrella for him but for her, its her commitment and she does it with honour. Nothing and nobody can come between Maddy's commitment to Rishabh.
You will never go to save somebody who has destroyed your life to the extent that you cannot put a single piece back together . You will never put yourself in front of a firing squad for someone who kills you everyday. But Maddy does. Seeing Rishabh at life threatening risk, instead of watching him go to hospital and ER, she instinctively runs to him and puts herself under the fire so that he can live. To save a man who has turned her into a colossal tragedy . How many people will do it in her place? Perhaps nobody. But she did it for Rishabh. Why? Because she is a compassionate , giving and all-encompassing human being ' because she is committed to this man to serve him and take care of him with her life. She might call him a million things but she has proven it today that whatever happens between them, she will always stand with him and for him. Always.
Today, Rishabh literally stopped time and the world for Maddy.
Today, Maddy risked her life for Rishabh without a second thought.
Meaning? It doesn't matter how much they hate each-other . Its immaterial how obtuse in the head and heart Rishabh is or how unexpressive and cold Maddy is . It is insignificant how they treat each-other . They will always be each-other's shield against the world. Rishabh can humiliate Maddy as much as he wants , but if someone else dares to hurt her , he can literally stop the world like he did today- going to the point of asking his father to apologize to her in front of everyone. Maddy can detest him as much as she wants but everytime he is in the line of fire , she will protect him with her life.
Coming to rest of the episode, you know what I really liked?
The cold walls between the senior Bhatias ( Kundra is Rishabh's original surname , I guess) and Rishabh are played out smartly by using a third person for communication. First , it was BittuG between Rishabh and his mother. Today it was Kohli who was the tennis ball between Rishabh and his stepfather and stepbrother. As in, they cut over-dramatization and show you a dysfunctional family realistically.
Rishabh's stepfather is like a wolf ' powerful, sly and trained in indirect combat. He is a smart villain and he will always attack Rishabh through channels ' never directly. The stepbrother is dependent on his father ' even for his borrowed attitude and villainy. Let me see more of them and I can be more definite but yes, the stepfather is capable of hurting Rishabh with just the right words ' see today's episode and you will know what am trying to say.
Today's symbolism is the eyelock of Rishabh and Maddy over her bleeding hand between them. It signifies , in the vintage literal sense , that this relationship will always be wrought with pain, suffering and tragedy.
The moment of the day was the dedication of team Madhubala to A.K Hangalji in the voice of Razaaji. God bless his soul and peace to him . We pray for strength for his family.
P.S- I will never have a nickname for Razaaji's character or make fun of the same. I have too much respect for him as an artist and as a human being.
