Faria,

this is exactly how dancers doing mujras in the hinterlands look and behave-they had it down pat...infact the only blooper was that they showed women there-no women are allowed into these mujras coz they are very raw! all that sensuality is just a marketing gimmick in BW films. in reality its quite crude and not the least bit sensual..how do i know? i and a group of friends stole our way into one such party on the outskirts of lucknow ( not even a small town like the one in the show) where we had gone to attend the wedding of a close friend who was a thakur and came from a feudalistic background...he had warned us to remain inside with the women and not come anywhere near this party but we thinking ourselves to be confident city bred girls stole our way in, hiding underneath blankets ( v filmy!) gosh! i still remember how ugly the girls were, how garish their dance and how terrible their outfits and make up...we couldnt stomach it ...

Yes some satirical humour would be great in coming episodes as long as they don't take it over the top. As that can be offensive as well as irratating. Yeah this is larger than life portrayal, sadly I'm not a fan of masaala genres. Though I'm sure this will be a hit as the mass public love such things. I like toned down simple stories which is why GHSP worked for me.

i loved GHSP and honestly think a show of that calibre will rarely, if ever be seen again on TV-but i also like masala movies..i love the Om shanti om kind of fare where everything is larger than life and OTT - where we leave our brains behind and just sit back and enjoy the drama! but that too needs creativity as it can get monotonous quickly.. also a whole dollop of emotions coz w/o emotions no movie, show or play can survive!

what a surprise Boogz .. a discussion and analysis thread!😆 the best part is 'no fanaticism' yeh..

This would be one of the rare times I have checked out a show from its first episode.. I am not into reading too much already, nor good at it 😆 but it was a decent enough start.

Some actors, like Raj zutshi, Daai maa and Raj's mother are veterans , and its fun to watch them work. OTT was required for a script that starts at that point of time in the past with that kind of rustic backdrop. So raj Zutshi's and his mother's atrocious characters are totally believable in their villainy and heartlessness.

Even like the comparatively understated guruji.

and yeh, people have no patience for the revelation of story these days so it makes sense they would have such a fast paced beginning to get done with setting up the characters and the catalysts which set the series of events in motion.

Its like a prologue though, here. For right now we only know how they might proceed from here but not how this will come back into the plot later.
all in all I m curious.. hope its worth the hype around it.

Agree with you on most of your points..

and..lol .. enjoy this new analysis-shnalalysis business.

Aww... it just feels great to see DD introduced in way no telly star has been... 😳 ... May she touch heights with this show... 🤗

Like our sutradhaar (narrator) said in the promo...Kahaani badi hi filmy hai... 😎 ... one psycho husband/father, one evil saas, one loving mother and all of this scattered in a battlefield of power, money, dark pasts, anticipating future and an adrenaline pumping present ... 👏 ...

@BG music... have you really not heard the clone of kailash kher that has been crooning the title of the show mentioned by you since a while now competing with the maaahii chillati aatmas on who will tear the eardrums first??? 😳 😵 🤣

PSS: Am i wrong to say you will be in love with Chaudhary given his psychotic nerves??? eh? 😈 🤣

Ah I see, I didn't actually know that - really the most I know about rural India is from bollywood movies.

I hope I can share my opinion here...
I wasn't very impressed with the first epi. And no, its not because of the absence of the two lead actors; as a matter of fact I expected that they won't be there.
The entire first epi seemed quite like the typical melodramatic type.I agree that all the charcters had to be properly established first but I would have preferred if the entire melodrama was not dragged for a whole 1 hour. But having said that, I liked the way the title credits were presented. And I wouldn't be judging the entire show based on the first epi... so here is me hoping that the upcoming episodes would be more enjoyable for me.
PS: This was just my opinion and I do not intend to offend anyone.

😆 One hit wonder! I'm very picky with my music, like I said there are very few BG scores I like.
