She need not go out in the sun to work... and anyways, no work is small as far as you get money and are independent... both Abha n Aditi can help her in whatever she is doing whenever they have time at hand... maybe going further when her work (business) expands, she can engage other women...

The wages for the women work are very low. Avni's mom can work whole day not earn enough to pay the rent alone forget about the food and clothing. Falls and pique earn next to nothing, whole days work will not give you enough to pay for food, for two falls in day, it is a lot to do in one day, she is lucky if she earns Rs 40 per fall in small communities it is way less. Look around you the women coming to do jaroo and bartan, they are excruciatingly poor, they don't even have one decent meal by middle class standard in a day. The women selling vegetables, making roads or making papad are extremely poor and they live in slums, under some make shift juggi with no water or electricity.

This is the story about middle class India not somebody from juggi jopari.

The only way a women can earn some living in India is, if they have investment and run a business (like middle class men do) or they have education and can get a job i.e. like Avi or a professional work.

and she felt bad only bcz at this satge in life her mother had to find a job when she has grown up children including her ownself

Bhasker's family already has a Bhasker as earning member and father in law gets a pension. Avni family has nobody with exception of Abha's door to door part time job. They do need more help. Avni should give them as much as she thinks they need and keep the rest for herself.

It has not been made clear what Bhasker does with his pay and why his sister don't work when they don't have money.

i dont think avi worries about what type of work her mom might be doing ... she doesnt want her mother to work because she thinks her mom is old and her mom worked her whole life to support her kids now its kids turn ... avi's mom rushed her to get married and now avi is stuck ...

If people feel that Avnis aayi can work to get money, why cant Bhaskars ayi work to get money???? also his sisters???? Just because aayi (avni) has daughters u expect her to work out in this age???? And once anyone marries a girl its his responsibility to give her food, shelter and other basic needs...same way its girls responsibilites to manage that house... avni will give her salary to her maayka till her bro gets settled n takes care of his mom...u all expect avni to give her salary to her sasural just bcz she eats n stays there???!!!! In that case it is fully justified that she gives all her salary to her mother bcz she has stayed n eaten there for more than 20 years...

she has been a single mother throughout. all these yrs she must have worked. most of all i dont think there is anything wrong in working. most women who are working get use to their independence n work til the time their health allows them to. they dont feel like leaving n sitting idle. we see eldery people working in different plcs n areas as they enjoy their independence.

u r right when u saying that working at this stage is somewhat not done but there isnt any problem or issue. since the time avni took the resp she left her work. now she knows what bhaskar wants so either she should tell this to avni or she is left with only one thing: fending for her self.

@bold :

I loved what u said abt bhaskar's mom👏...bingo if she needs money for luxuries she should work too

But its kinda unrealistic to give her whole salary to her mom since both abha n Manohar are working

avni should save a part of her salary in a bank account for future purposes ..that way at least a part of her money will be safe from her in-laws ..of course sometimes as a daughter in-law she should contribute in the expenses of daily budget of Bhaskar's home ...

But I think a woman has a right to keep her salary in her own possession...& spend accoriding to her will ..Not hand it to her Mother -in-law even if her brother n sisters are working n earning ...even in future why should avni give the money to her saas😕

Neeta should go out to work... all she does is sit at home watching TV or chating up Rajesh...she needs to know how hard it is to earn money not just snatch it out of Avnis hand when her family feel like it...

Avni should open her self a bank account and keep all her salary and pay all her ayis bills and if her in laws need somthing then she should get it for then but not be blackmailed in to handing over her salary to them just because they are greedy people. Avnis Ayi can work from home what she might earn can help towards food or cloths.

Whatever you've written about the income part held true say some 5 years ago...
I live in Bangalore, and one of the women I know prepares lunch for some 10 people and she charges per person 1000/- (as she started about 2 months ago, and will be charging around 2000/- soon), which means she's earning 10,000/- per month, this when she's using normal sized vessels and all her cooking takes upto an hour or max 1 and half hour... and her husband does the delivery... in Avani's mom's case, she has a huge angan and also she maybe having somewhat bigger pots than what smaller families have (my acquaintance has only a family of 2, including herself and her husband)... well, what I am trying to say is, if a women really wants to earn, nothing is impossible... just the determination is needed... also, if she really wants to earn money... only doing pique and falls is also an option like I mentioned, I can say this cos ppl in my area charge around 50 Rs per saree, if she charges the same now and does some 5 - 6 sarees also, she'll be earning around 250 - 300 per day, which means about 7500 to 9000 per month, maybe if Abha and Aditi join her after their work, they can increase the no. of sarees... anyways.. I am not saying all this to argue, but all that I am saying is if she really wants to earn there are definitely lots of opportunities..

Though this may not be an option here in the serial or for any women who lives in decent colonies, still I thought of mentioning that I know of kaamwaali bais in my area who live in decent houses, whose children go to decent school, cos they charge around minimum of 2,000 per month per house and they manage to do some 6-7 houses minimum in a single day!!! This maybe unbelievable.. but there are DINK couples who want a maid for doing literally everything!!!

One to one and half hours to cook lunch for 10 people..she must be a machine even machines cannot do so fast..it will take more than as least 3 hrs and if take into account shopping even more time..the husband probably takes another two to three hours delivering (to and fro).

It takes about two to three hours to put fall on one sari..4 to 5 saris every day will make a person blind. Btw, how far does |s 400 go

have u watched "krishna behen khakrawala"? it also a story for a single mother with 4 children. only difference is she has 1 daughter. anyways my point is that this lady krishna makes khakras from home with the help of few more ladies n has a small shop where she sells them.
so u see this type of thing isnt useless. every work adds to the income.
