hello ppl......do write detailed comments plzz.........as this one took me 2 hrs to type

Part 13 :

Stop to Cry...But my Tears won't Dry

"I wasn't laughing at you." He wasn't laughing at me. "I wasn't laughing at you." He wasn't laughing at me. *sigh* "I wasn't laughing at you." He wasn't laughing at me. "I wasn't laughing at you." He wasn't laughing at me. I could stand here all day and think about those words. *sigh*

"Veer!" That didn't sound like me. I didn't yell out his name. Then who? "Siya?" No, it can't be her. It is her. Zooming past me like a gust of wind, she catches up to Veer, grabs his arm and they walk out of my sight, together.

Watching her I had felt like running after her pulling her hair out. But being a civilized person I didn't do anything of that sort. All I could do was go through the entire day burning with jealously. I am seriously considering making a sign that says, 'I am married, don't come after me' for Veer to wear around his neck, so all the girls can get the message loud and clear, especially Miss I-am-so-perfect-and-beautiful. I ignore everything that Anjy and Sandy ask or say for the rest of the day, and spend my entire day thinking about what Veer and Siya could be doing. Relief washes over me when the clock finally strikes five and it time for me to meet Veer in the parking lot. I rush out the class, even before the teacher gives us permission to leave. I hear her whine in the background but I don't care.

I quickly take sit in the back seat and straighten out my hair, and sit up straight. Veer should be here any minute.

"Shall we leave madam?" The driver asks.

"No, we have to wait for Veer?"

"Madam he asked me to take you home, he said he will be a bit late today."

"What? Why?"

"He didn't say madam." The driver replies, a bit confused about my questioning. What does he know; he is not losing his husband to a gorgeous goddess. I look at the driver through the rear view mirror and realize there is no use in asking him anything I have no choice but to go home alone.

"Yah, let's go."

________________________________________________

"Madam?"

"Huh? … Oh!" I didn't even realize when we got home. Lazily getting out of the car I forget to even shut the car door. Walking in I find Cherry and Jyoti instructing the servants to wash this, or dust that, the house seems to have been turned upside down.

"What is going on?"

"Khurana sir and Durga mam are having some important guests over." Cherry replies in her airy tone.

"Oh." Not caring too much about the dinner or the guests who are coming, I walk up the stairs like a zombie and then into Veer's room.

"Veeni, baby!" I completely forgot about him. Seeing him jump up and run around in excitement of seeing me puts me in a better mood too. I throw my bag on the floor and take him in my arms. I hug him then kiss him, and for some strange reason I start to cry. With him in my lap I sit on the bed, telling him all that happened this morning. Once I am done narrating the events of the day, I cry some more. Veeni 'woofs' in return as though trying to console me, making me smile and even laugh a little.

"Oh, Veeni, you are so much better than some other people I know." Putting him down I go change and freshen up. I am hungry but I don't want to go downstairs, who knows what Cherry and Jyoti are up to. So to take my mind of things I continue to play with Veeni.

Veer comes home three hours after me. I don't bother to say hi to him when he enters the room, but simply give him the message I was asked to earlier, when Cherry came knocking on our door, telling me to get ready for the dinner, giving me a sari I was suppose to wear. The sari is beautiful; it was an off white, with red sequins embroidery, but I don't feel beautiful wearing it. How could I, with no one to compliment me.

"You have to get ready; the guests will be here soon." I tell Veer, in the most unattached voice I know, hoping maybe he will detect my foul mood.

"Okay." Is all I get in return, as he walks straight into his walk in closet after placing his bag on the couch. He doesn't notice. I look at Veeni and feel like crying some more. But I can't.

"Soni! What is this?" Veer asks fuming as he walks back into the room.

Uh oh! I look down at Veeni and then at Veer. "A shoe?"

"Soni!"

"A shoe that you can't wear anymore?"

"Soni!"

Okay I have to say it, there is no point running in circles. "A shoe Veeni chewed up. But you can't blame him, he was alone here all day and he probably got bored."

"Soni, that dog…"

Okay, this does it. Placing Veeni down, I go right up to Veer, "you have to stop calling him that. His name is Veeni!"

"Soni.."

"No Veer, you can't blame him for your shoe, he is just a baby…"

"Soni…"

"No Veer it is not fair…"

"Soni! Where is he?"

"What?"

"Where is Veeni?"

"He is right there…" Uh oh, both of us turn our gaze from the bed where I left him to the door that had been left open by Veer when he came in.

"Oh Shoot!" Both of us sing in unison.

No, my baby, out there in the house by himself, alone. What if someone else finds him and throws him I out. I turn back to Veer and start pleading, "Veer, please you have to help me find him, if you mother finds him she will…" tears start falling out without my permission.

"I will Soni, but you have to let go off me." As I hear Veer, I realize how tightly I am holding onto to him. Slowly I back away, tears still pouring out of my eyes. Just then I hear the most dreaded sound, my mother-in law greeting the guests and then screaming in horror. My heart stops beating as I look up at Veer.

"Veer, promise me you won't let anything happen to him."

"I promise Soni, now come with me." Grabbing my wrist, Veer and I walk out the room.

What I see next is the opposite and even more shocking than what I expect. Other than chaos there is calm and quiet in the room. Veeni is not barking or going wild seeing so many strangers, but is loving sitting in the arms of one of the guests. This guest is smiling from one ear to the other, and is thanking my mother-in-law again and again.
"Thank you so much. Thank you so much. I had been looking for him everywhere."

Suddenly I realize what is going on. I know Veer is looking at me, he too knows what is going on. But without a thought or word, I free myself from Veer's grip and run downstairs. Veeni is my baby and no one is taking him away from me. Ignoring my mother-in-law's glare I snatch Veeni out of the lady's hands and announce that Veeni is mine. I know what I did was very childish, but what else could I do?

"Soni!" My mother-in-law yelled. "What are you doing?"

"But if I had not brought him home he could have been dead by now."

"And thank you so much for that, but …"

"There is no need for that Lovely." With that, my mother-in-law takes Veeni back from my hands and puts him back in 'Lovely's' arms.

My eyes well up with tears and I have never felt so helpless. I look into 'Lovely's' eyes, silently pleading, and in her eyes I see the same helplessness. As silence fills the room, I rush upstairs. I rush past Veer, who is still standing where I left him, and go straight into the washroom where I lock myself.

Leaning against the wall I slip down, covering my face, as tears continue to pour out.

"Soni, will you please come out." Comes Veer's gentle voice. "Please Soni, open the door." Hearing Veer's voice, fills me with hope again. I open the door, and smile at Veer through my tears.

"Veer you promised me!"

"Thank goodness you decided to come out. Here take a seat." He says making me sit on the bed, and he kneels in front of me. But this is not time to talk.

"Veer…"

"Soni… you know I can't. That is his real family, and even you know he is happy with them."

"Yah, but what about me Veer? I have no one here. Veeni was my only friend. Without him I will be so alone and lonely. Abhinav is always at work, your mother I am too scared … Cherry and Jyoti hate me, I can't even talk to my family because they are always watching me and you … you …are never here."

I don't realize how hot my cheeks are till I feel Veer wiping my tears with his cool hands. I look at him, and for the first time the tears stop, as I find him looking back into mine.

"Soni, it's my mistake. I never realized how hard it is for you. Here you are trying to adjust to a new life, and I can't even make an effort to make you feel more at home. It is my fault ... I am sorry…" Hearing those words, I melt.

"No Veer, no please don't say sorry, I was being stupid. I should be happy that Veeni found his real family and here I am being selfish. As long as he is happy I should be happy even if means he won't be with me anymore." My eyes start to well up again, and now I feel silly having Veer see me like this. He must think I am so stupid to cry so much for something like this.

"Do you think your mom will be really mad for what I did today?"

"You don't worry about that. I think it has been a tiresome day for you, why don't you go to sleep?"

"But the dinner…"

"Don't worry. Everything will be fine."

I shut my eyes smiling, as Veer leaves the room quietly, his words echoing in my ears, 'everything will be fine.'

Part 14 :

Who decides what we deserve?

Having slept so early, I woke up early the next morning too, Veer was still sleeping. I smiled watching him; he seemed to be in such a deep sleep. Not wanting to wake him I tip-toed around the room, as I quietly got dressed and ready for college. I was done, and Veer was still asleep. I went to the balcony to get some fresh air, there was a gentle breeze blowing and the air was cool and crisp. The clouds were setting in, hiding the sun behind them. Even though I hated rain, today's grey color of the sky seemed beautiful too. I breathed in the freshness of the air and as the coolness filled my lungs, a loud growling filled my ears. I held my stomach realizing that I hadn't eaten anything, I looked around making sure, Veer wasn't there listening to the embarrassing sounds of my hunger. And sure enough, he stood leaning against the balcony door smiling at me. He opened his arms, inviting me in his embrace. Of course I was shocked a surprised, but that didn't stop me and I ran to him. Feeling the warmth of his body next to mine I shut my eyes and breathed him in. It felt so right, I felt so relaxed, and comfortable. It was as though that was the only place I was supposed to be, in his arms.

Looking up at him now, I smiled. He opened his mouth to say something, when a funny ringing sound came out of his mouth. This was weird. He tried again and once again the un-humanly ringing. We both looked at each other so confused, me more than him. It was as though he swallowed an alarm clock or something. His arms were no longer wrapped around me, but I still held onto him tight, and shut my eyes again, no wanting to let him go. The ringing continued, becoming louder by the minute. "Oh shut up!" I yelled unwilling, as I opened my eyes again.

Veer was right there, with his back to me sleeping right beside me. It was a dream, I should have guessed. I swallowed hard realizing I was on his side of the bed with my arms around him. For a second I was under a trance, and then the alarm clock rung again, I rushed over to my side and shut it off. Being away from Veer made me want to crawl back on his side and wrap my arms around him once again. I was having a tough time fighting the urge as I swung back and forth from my side to his. Soon, I gave up and I was back on Veer's side, trying to settle back with my arms lightly wrapped around his back. Suddenly he turned and now his face was right against mine, with my on arm pinned under him. Sh*t, I was in big big trouble. What would Veer think I was doing? Just the thought made me feel sick.

Sleepily he opened his eyes and found me right there just a couple inches away staring right at him, smiling nervously. "Soni!" He confirmed, instantly leaning back. Gosh, I had scared him, but at least I could now pull my hand out. He wanted an explanation for why I was there on his side of the bed; I could see the questions rising in his eyes. It was not like the bed was small to fit the both of us.

"I was just ... I was just ..." Nothing was coming to me, my mind was blank. Why does this always happen to me. "Oh this is useless." Frustrated I ran to the washroom, where I caught my reflection in the mirror and almost scared myself too. It looked like I had just suffered an electric shock. I started running my hands through my hair trying desperately to calm the frizz down.

"Soni..."

"How... What ... How did you get into the washroom? I thought I locked it. And why would you ..."

"Sshhh..." I lowered my eyes to look at the finger Veer had gently placed on my lips silencing me. We were only a few inches again once again when he continued. "You see this?" He asked holding up a weird looking key. I nodded. "It's a master key, opens any door in the house, even the secret ones." He mocked me, but I still did not say anything in response and continued to listen. "Now I happened to notice you have this habit of running in here every time something happens, so I thought I couldn't keep standing on the other side waiting, so here I am. Now tell me what is wrong, so that I can make it right."

What is wrong? My hair is giant fuzz ball that is what is wrong. But wait a minute, what was he doing? Trying to make me fall in love with him? I would rather have him be rude, mean and obnoxious with me rather than nice. Rude is easy to dislike and hate, but the way he was, he is *sigh* what girl would not fall for him. I stared back at him dumbstruck, I noticed his hair too was unruly, yet they still suited him. He was perfect in every way and he deserved someone just as perfect. Someone who didn't go kicking rice bowls on the day of their wedding, or woke up with hair that looked like the tail of a scared cat. Thinking about all this, made my heart sink, and suddenly I wanted to be alone.
"Soni?"

"Huh?"

"Sometimes I wish I could hear what you think, that way I would know what was going on up there."

Sometimes I wish that too, because then you would know how I am falling for you. I could feel a lump growing in my throat; I had to get Veer out of here fast, before he saw any tears. "Nothing happened, Veer, I just have an early class so I came in here to get ready." I lied.

"Are you sure?" He was suspicious.

"Yes." Hearing that he left, and watching him leave made me feel even worse, but I didn't stop him just shut the door.

___________________________________________________

Now that I had lied about having an early class, I had to get to college early too. I told Veer I would ask Abhinav if he could drive me there in his car, this way Veer could come later. Veer and Abhinav both agreed. While Veer had his car driven by a driver, Abhinav drove his himself. So here I was sitting beside him, thinking about Veer.

"Wow, very quiet today, Soni."

"Huh, yah, I have loads to catch up on in college. I am taking this business management course and I don't understand anything." I engaged in conversation with Abhinav hoping it would take my mind of Veer.

"But aren't you doing fashion designing?"

"Yah, but they make you take the course, so you go on to open your boutique or something you have some business knowledge to fall back on."

"Well, you know I am running a business myself so if you ever want help, you now know who to ask."

"Really! You know what I had some stuff due today but I couldn't do it, because of what happened last night. Do you think you could ... oh no but you have to go to the office."

"Don't worry, that the biggest advantage of your own business you go when you want. We can work on your assignment. How much time do you have till you have to hand it in?"

"Two hours. Thank you Abhinav, you are so nice."

_____________________________________________________

I took Abhinav straight to the library, where both of sat at a corner table beside a big window, the clouds had grown thicker and the weather was getting gloomier by the minute. We were almost finished my assignment, I just had to clean it up, so while I tidied up Abhinav was busy looking out the window, probably remembering his own college days.

"Thank you so much Abhinav without you I would surely failed this thing." I waited for Abhinav to say something but he seemed too engrossed in whatever he was watching. Curious I followed his gaze and my heart almost stopped when I saw him looking at Veer and Siya talking.

Did he know about Veer and Siya? What if he told the family, Veer would think I told... I had to do something.

"Oh that is just Veer and his friend." I said, laughing nervously, hoping Abhinav would not care and we could leave. But he looked back at me in a daze. His look was not of surprise but of disappointment. His eyes full of sorrow and pity. He knew. "Abhinav you have to promise you can't tell anyone at home. It is not Veer or Siya's fault; I mean I am the one who came between them." My heart beat fast as I pleaded, tears welling up in my eyes.

"This is not right Soni." I saw the rage in Abhinav's eyes, as he started to walk off. Quickly I caught his hand making him stop.

"Abhinav please someone like Veer deserves someone like Siya. He deserves the moon, not just another star in the sky."

"Soni you are the one who deserves the moon, not them." And with that, he was gone, I watched as he disappeared going down the stairs and then reappeared on the ground below where Veer and Siya were. I watched as Abhinav spoke, and didn't stop till Siya was in tears. I watched Veer trying to explain to Abhinav what was going on, but Abhinav seemed adamant to not listen. I felt helpless and responsible for everything that was happening below. Then in an instant, Abhinav left, a moment later so did Siya wiping her tears, leaving Veer standing there alone. He looked up and saw me standing in the corridor, watching everything, tears falling out of my eyes as well. Everything was ruined and because of me. Before I could say or do anything I found Veer striding towards me and as he got closer I saw the tears in his eyes that had not yet fallen. Forcefully he took me by my shoulder "I trusted you when I shouldn't have. You are just like everyone else, selfish, only thinking of yourself."

His word hit me hard and hurt me; more than the tight grip of his hands was hurting my arms. Suddenly I felt weak and felt as though all the blood in my body was draining out, as darkness set before my eyes. I lost control of my body and melted into Veer's arms, falling unconscious.

Part 15 :

If Only He Knew...

After I fell unconscious I have no recollection of what happened, but I am assuming Veer scooped me into his arms and carried me home. However, when I finally did gain back my senses the first person I saw was the last person I wanted to see. No, it's not Veer, come on how he can be the last person I would want to see, he is the only person I ever want to see. Despite the fact that he is going to kill me once he finds out I am back to normal, but still. Anyways, it is Siya standing before me, and Veer behind her, his hand on his forehead looking extremely tensed. So this is it. Siya is here, Veer is here and I am here. It time for them to tell me the truth, the truth that I don't belong with Veer but Siya does. My head feels so heavy, as I try to sit up.

"Oh thank goodness you are up Soni, Veer and I were worried sick." Siya sympathizes helping me sit up.

"Soni, are you okay?" Veer comes and sits on the bed, pushing Siya out of the way. "Don't you ever do that again, you almost gave me a heart attack." I just watch Veer in a daze. He is doing it again, making me fall in love with him more and more, if that is possible. "Soni I am so sorry for the way I acted but ..."

Ok here it comes, but I don't want to hear it. I know it is inevitable, but I can delay it at least for a little while. "Who are you? Where am I?" I try to put on my best lost expression. It is a bit difficult since I know exactly who he is, he is Veer, my Veer, okay maybe not mine, but he was for a little while. And I know exactly where I am. Wait a minute, on second thought, WHERE AM I? Suddenly panic strikes and I start to wonder if maybe Veer hadn't picked me up in his arms after I fell unconscious but instead had let me fall, and I had then hit my head on a random rock placed in the middle of the corridor, and lost my memory. This was not good; I didn't want to lose my memory. I would forget everyone, my Daddyji, Ma, Mahi, Veeni, Abhinav, Bhabhi, Bhaiya, Anjy and Sandy. How could Veer do this to me? Enraged I caught Veer's collar and began accusing him. "How could you Veer? How could you let me fall and make me lose my memory?"

Gently removing my hands from his collar, Veer smiles, "Soni, I would never let you fall, and you have not lost your memory."

"Oh yeah, well then how come I don't remember you, or Siya, or how I fainted this morning, and I don't even know where I am."

Veer started to laugh now, which in my opinion was a very ridiculous reaction. Losing my memory is not a laughing matter; it is a very serious matter that needs to be taken care of immediately. He needs to take me not to a doctor, but to the exact same spot, replay the same scene, and then I would fall again and regain my memory. See, whoever said you learn nothing from watching TV was obviously wrong.

"She is absolutely fine." Veer said turning to Siya who was smiling too. "We are at Siya's house that is why you don't know where you are."

"Oh!" Okay, I had overreacted a bit there. Now, I am blushing like I have never before. I have never felt dumber; I actually thought I had lost my memory! Okay it is official; I am not watching TV ever again!

"Soni you want something to eat or drink? I think you should have something because the doctor said that you fainted due to exhaustion. Here have this juice." Wow, she is well prepared, before I can answer she hands me the juice. Very reluctantly I sip the juice as both Veer and Siya watch me. What do I know; she could have poisoned the juice, this way they would get rid of me once and for all. After one sip I place the juice on the table beside the bed. Hopefully one sip won't harm me, I cross my fingers. "No, Soni you must drink all of it, you need the energy." Siya hands me the glass again.

I force myself to gulp down the juice as each sip makes it way down my throat I can feel the poison gripping me, making me weak. I start to slide down the bed, getting ready for the everlasting sleep. With the last sip I look at Siya and Veer, who seem very content that I have finished the juice, "I hope you both live a happy life, together." With that I collapse back into the bed.

"Soni?"

I remain quiet, waiting for my soul to float out of my body. A few minutes pass and nothing. Hmm... This is odd. I open one eye to inquire the sudden silence in the room. Veer is still there and so is Siya, everything is just the way it was a few minutes ago. Okay, maybe the juice was not poisoned. I sit back up, and laugh nervously.

"What was that all about Soni?" With Veer's question comes my blood rushing to my cheeks. Recognizing the familiar expression on my face Veer continues, "Let me guess, something to do with a certain K-show." I look back at him surprised. "You watch too much TV Soni." He laughs. And watching him laugh I realize he need not try anymore, I am a gone case, I am in love with Veer Khurana. This is awesome, now I am not only married to someone who loves someone else, but also in love with him too.

_________________________

"I'll go and prepare something to eat." Siya informs Veer and I and then leaves the room. Veer and I are alone. This is my chance, my only chance to ask Veeer rather tell him, that I want only his happiness even if it means that he will be with Siya and not me. "Veer..." He turns his attention to me, and finding his eyes locked with mine my heart skips a beat. I quickly look away, not wanting to fall weak. I have to just say it. To ask the question I have wondered since the day I was asked to marry Veer. It's now or never. Gathering all the courage in me, I speak. A lump growing in my throat, but still trying to smile, it is harder than I thought it would be. "Veer why did you marry me, when you love Siya?"

Veer smiled at me, coming closer to the wipe the tears that I spilled out of my eyes without my knowledge. I shut my eyes a moment, taking in the feel of the of Veer's touch. It was so soft and gentle, and at that moment I wanted nothing more than to be in his arms. "I don't love her Soni. Despite what the rumors around College are we are not together as a couple."

What? I can't believe this. Veer does not love Siya. Could that mean ... My heart is beating a millions times a second. I can hardly control my breath and my eyes are welling up again, but this time my tears have a new meaning. Once again Veer extends his arm to wipe my tears, and I smile back. I really hope I am not dreaming. "Soni, I am so sorry, just yesterday I promised to take care of you and now here I am making you cry again. I shouldn't have yelled at you this morning, you are already having a hard enough time without having me to yell at you too now. I mean the little time we have together I should at least not make you cry so much."

"Little time..."

"Yah, you don't want to spend the rest of your life with someone who you married because of a condition or an age old promise. Don't worry once everything is solved you will have you old carefree life back. No more Cherry or Jyoti, no more training classes, and no more of me."

My heart sinks. I love you. I love him so much. I don't care about the training classes, my horrid mother-in-law or Cherry and Jyoti. All I want is to be with him. If only he knew. Tears continue to pour out my eyes, with Veer trying his best to make them stop. He doesn't realize that the more he tries, the more it makes me cry. If only he knew.
