Seems like I have nothing better to do. I need to start my next FF. Let me get over with this one. 😆😉
Chapter 3: Don't Forget

Did you forget
That I was even alive
Did you forget
Everything we ever had
Did you forget
Did you forget
About me

Shabd woke up to a room both strange and familiar. This wasn't his room, because he was on a couch, and there were a lot of books spread out on the floor.
The door slowly opened, and his sister's head appeared. Kamya. She saw he was awake, and hurried in. "Hi.", she whispered. "You okay?"
Shabd tried to sit up, but his entire body was too heavy to move. He squeezed his eyes shut, only to find pain in his head. "I guess. What happened?"
Kamya hesitated for a moment. "Jeet and Soni found you at her grave. It looked like you . . . you cried yourself to sleep."
Did you regret
Ever standing by my side
Did you forget
What we were feeling inside
Now I'm left to forget
About us
His face flushed hearing this. "Oh, man."
"I'm glad you are finally letting yourself grieve." Kamya said bluntly. "I was beginning to worry. We all are. Taya-Tayi Ji, Jeet, Soni, Raji ... We all care about you, Bhai."
After a minute, she said, "You need to let her go, Shabd ... I ..."
He blinked at her in amazement. "What do you mean by that?"
"You are forgetting something. I'm your sister. You loved her."
Did everyone know? Except ...
"Love her." It flew from his mouth before he could stop it. "H-How long have you known?"
"When I first brought her home and you two hit it off, that's all is was. Friendship." Kamya sighed. "I think it was couple of years later, when she came back for the summer after her first year at University in London, that I thought ... I thought you two might be building up to something more. I was happy. Glad, actually. After all, Mahi was my best-friend too. I tried to ask her. Then she told me she was marrying Angad. When she told us, I knew at that moment ... you loved her.", she explained.
But somewhere we went wrong
We were once so strong
Our love is like a song
You can't forget it
"Mahi didn't tell me anything, but I knew she loved you too after you and Suhani . . ."
"WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Shabd cried. Then he laughed. He couldn't believe what he had just heard. "She didn't love me, Kamya. How could she? She never . . ."
"Did you ever tell her?", she asked.
Did you tell her?
Those four words triggered his grief and guilt, and he once more began to cry. This time, however, his sister was there to console him.
So now I guess
This is where we have to stand
Did you regret
Ever holding my hand
Never again
Please don't forget
Don't forget

We had it all
We were just about to fall
Even more in love
Than we were before
I won't forget
I won't forget
About us

Chapter 4: The Truth & A Favor

Couple of weeks later, Shabd was with the rest of Mahi's friends and family. They were all there for reading of her will. Shabd was pleased to see that the lawyer, Shabir Khan, had called her Mahi Malhotra instead of Mahi Khanna, just like her headstone read. Her parents made it very clear that they didn't want her remembered with her murderer's name.

Shabd was surprised when he was called into a side office before the reading was to begin. When he took a seat, the lawyer began. "Mr. Sareen. How are you?"
"Alright, I guess." Shabd replied.
Shabir nodded. "Sir. Mrs ... I'm sorry ... Ms. Malhotra ... like you know wrote most of her will out, to be read aloud. However, she also made some tapes as part of her will, each only to be shown to the named people, and only under certain circumstances.", he explained.
He removed two tapes from a large brown envelope labeled 'Shabd Sareen'. "You will see one of these. Which one depends on the answer to one question."
"What is the question?"
"Did you love her at the time of her death, Mr Sareen?"
Shabd felt like he had been punched in the stomach and testicles at the same time. That question meant only one thing: Kamya had been right.
"Mr. Sareen?"
Shabd refocused on the man. He refused to cry. "Yes. Yes, I did ... I do, love her."
With a simple nod, Shabir put one of the tapes back in the envelope. He then put the other in the VCR on the bookshelf behind him, played it and pushed the door close behind him. The tape came to life, and his beloved face, Mahi's face was there.
"Hello, Shabd." She smiled. Shabd barely kept from falling apart again. She was there. Mahi was there and she was looking gorgeous. "If you're seeing this, then you were right, and Angad did kill me." Now he was confused. If she knew . . . "I can't believe right now I'd ever go back, but I must have." She shook her head. "I can't explain it better than I already have, Shabd. It's complicated. But rehashing those arguments is not why you are here. I need you to know something, if you haven't guessed it already. I love you, Shabd. I love you." He saw a single tear fell from her eye. "I have always been afraid to tell you, but it is very true." A small smile came to her face. "I think I understand Kamya and Kabir better now. Remember how we used to make fun of them?" She laughed. His hold was slipping. "Don't cry. Please, don't cry Shabd. I know you too well. You're probably blaming yourself for this. Don't. I hid from it as much as you did." He knew she was right, but that didn't make it hurt any less. "I have so much to say, but I don't know how. Besides, at the time I'm recording this, I have no idea how you feel, and I don't want to get too worked up, just in case I'm wrong. My only regret will be that I never told you how I felt. I couldn't bring myself to tell you ... I'm sorry." Sighing, she said: "I have a final favor to ask of you."
"Name it." He said aloud, even though she couldn't hear it.
"If you're seeing this then Diya and Sur either have no parents left, or the only one left is in prison." Actually, Angad had gone to prison, but was killed in a fight earlier that week. "Ma and Da would take them, of course, but their not as young as they used to be. I don't want to bother Soni nor Raji. They have their own family to take care of. Shabd, I know I'm asking a lot, but would you be willing to care for my girls? Please."
He didn't need to think about it.
Last chapter coming up! 😛

Let me introduce:
Surveen Chawla as Diya
Eijaz Khan as Ali Khan
Epilogue: Together At Last
Diya Sareen Khan knelt at the dug ground, her tears coming slowly. Her mother, Mahi, didn't want to be criminated. She made that clear. She wanted to be buried. Her grand-parents told her that Mahi wasn't their biological daughter. They adopted her. Her biological parents were Catholique. They died a long time ago in a plane crash.
Diya looked to the headstone next to hers. His passing had almost been a blessing, with what the cancer done to him this last year, but it still hurt to loss him. He wanted to be buried just like her mother. They'd buried the man who'd raised her and her sister since she was three earlier that day, but she couldn't leave him yet.
Her husband, Ali Khan, understood. He'd admired the man from the moment they'd met. It had taken some time to get the same from him, but after hearing what had happened to her mother, he understood why.
"Hey dad!'', Diya whispered. ''We said everything before you died, but I need to say this again. You took us in when you didn't have to. I know you loved mom, but we were the children of a man you loathed. Yet you never once treated us as anything less than your own. Sur and I couldn't think of anything that could be thank you enough. Then Kamya aunty told us ... " She gently touched the new grave marker. "I hope it helps you find peace with her at last. I know you both will." With it, she walked away before she lost her control.
She walked away from was a double sized grave maker. On the left was an old name, with old dug earth in front of it. On the right was the new name of the occupant of the neighboring grave --- The 25 years old marker having been removed to make room for this one:
Mahi Malhotra - - - Shabd Sareen
Together At Last
Together Forever
The End.
