early next morning naina left for the headquarters with aalkeh ..she had taken an appointment already and was thus allowed to meet the intended person..

naina walked down the long corridor and stood in front of a cabin..

on the cabin door was the name plate

GENERAL A.K BAKSHI

"may i come in sir??.."

"lt naina singh ahluwalia??.."

"yes sir.."

"plz come in.."

naina went in and saluted the general..

"plz have a seat...and u too..um?.."

"lt.aalekh sharma sir!"

"kahiye.."

"mujhe major rajveer singh sekhawat ke baare mein janna hai..."

"kya janna hai?.."

"mujhe lagta hai woh zinda hai.."

"i see.."

the genral made a phone call..

"i m in an important meeting..agle aadhe ghante ke loye..i dont want any disturbance watsoever.."

"yes lt..aap aisa kyun sochti hai.."

"sir..mere rajveer sir ki diary hai..and how is it possible for a dead man to write poetry?.."

"hm?"

"rajveer sir ki diary mein last poetry 17th kko likhi gayi thi..whereas woh video 16th ko samne aya tha..how?.."

"rajveer was on amission lt...isse zyada mein bas yehi kahunga..i thnk we have lost him..."

"but i dont think so..aaj apko batana hi padega.."

the genral dint know wat made him say it all to naina..but the glint hin her eyes had peirced him..

"rajveer was on an undercover mission..woh tape..army ki hi plaaning thi..taaki enmies ko lage rajveer is dead..aur woh casual ho jaaye in their approach..

next day rajveer ke hideout se uska sara saamna collect kar liya gaya..he was hifting somewhere else..lekin..uske baad se rajveer ki koi khabar nahi hai.."

naina flared up at once..

"khabar nahi hai??.wat do u mean sir..this is the army we are talking about..aur rajveer sir...

unhe to log aapka beta kehte hain..

aisa rishta hai general bakshi aur rajveer mein...how can be so incompetatn..??"

aalekh held naina's hand..but she jerked it away..nothing wud stop her today..

"no young lady..hum incompetant nahi hai...hum search parties bheji thi.lekin kuch pata nhai chala...last location was somewhere near punjab..and we had to drop it then.."

"had to drop it??..is this how ur soldires are treated??...shameful it is i must say..."

naina stood up..

"fine..agar aapki army kuch nahi kar sakti ..to ab mein jaaungi..i will go to search for rajverr sir...whether u send ur force wid.me...or whether u dont!!"

"jaldbazi mein koi decision mat lijiye lt.singh...apko kya lagta hai army ko major rajveer ki fikr nahi??"

"nahi..army ko koifark nahi padta ki rajveer sir zinda hai ya nahi...u dnt care!!"

"lt.singh..aap jazbati ho rahi hain..aur aap wahan nahi jayengi.."

"MEIN JAUNGI SIR...AUR HAN..IS BAAR AP TO KYA..AAPKI POORI ARMY BHI MUJHE NAHI ROK SAKTI..good day sir!!"

she stormed out of the room.. aalekh was left stunned..

"naina??!!...sir i m sorry..apun..woh..mein apse mafi mangta hun sir..plz..uski halat ko samajhne ki koshish kijiye..thnk you sir!!good day.."

aalekh went out of the room to find naina in the corridor..

"naina??yeh kya kiya tune..tu janti bhi hai..tune andar jo kiya uski wajah se kya ho sakta hai..woh tujhe.."

"suspend kar sakte hai na???janti hun...lekin tune us general ki baatein suni???
areh yun to sari army ko yeh kehta phirta hai ki rajveer sir unke best officer hain...saari army mein yehi janti hai ki general bakshi ka right hand officer major rajveer hai...
kai log to unhe general ka foster son kehte hain..lekin inhe dekho...yeh to chahte hi nahi ki koi rajveer sir ko dhundhe..."

"naina!!..aisa nahi hai..shayad."
"nahi aalekh mein to ab jaungi hi...chahe kuch bhi ho.."
"lt.singh!!"

they turned to see general out of his room....
but naina dint say a word she just stormed out of the headquarters

the little company of six sat at the cafe in the evening..
it was the last day of their holiday...naina was still upset...

even yudi had called to know wat had happened...

"naina..dekh mein fir keh raha hun..tu..ekbar mafi mangle unse..unse jake mil.."

"nahi huda..bilkul nahi..han shayad mujhe aise react nahi karna chahiye tha..lekin ab mein wahan nahi jaungi..."

"uff!!..HELLO!"

"mujhse??..kyun sir??!!"..it was a rather curt reply..

"aap aiye to sahi...ek baat keh sakta hun..mein aapko nirash nahi karunga...lt.singh..i need ur help.."
"help??.."
"yes lt. i need my best officer back on duty...fit and healthy...i will be expecting u at shar 800 hrs tomorrow"
"YES SIR!!...."
"yah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"oye naina..yeh call cut karte hi..tu aise uchal kyun padi..???"

"huda aalekh pooja neelu ali....mind blowing news..."
tumhe pata hai???kisne phone kia tha??.."
"kisne bhai??"
"general bakshi...
(evryone was silent..)..unhone mujhe kal milne bulaya hai..aur woh humari madad karenge..in fact unhone humse madad mangi hai rajveer ko dhundhne ke liye!!!!!!!!!!!"

"rajveer???.."

"mera matlab hai rajveer sir!!"
it was becoming dificult to call him sir now!!!

the next morning sharp at 800 hrs naina and aalekh reached the generals office at the headquarters..
they stood outside his door hearts beating fast...

"knock...may we come in sir??"
"plz step in officers..."

"like i said last time officers...rajveer ko ek mission par bheja gaya tha...ek under cover mission against a terrorist group...
aur yeh video bhi part of the mission tha...

aap to jante hi honge kai baar internet ya doosre coomunication media ke zariye yeh terrorist contact rakhte hai...

to yeh video is maksad se launch kiya gaya tha ki unhe lage ki major rajveer mar chuke hai..woh bhi militanats ke haathon..taki woh apna kaam kar sake..

is video ke dikhaye jane ke baad major rajveer ne jo cheezein apne saath rakkhi thi woh unhone lauta di..
taki use hum room me rakh sake..."

"iska matlab woh zinda hai??!!"


a silence followed...

"boliye sir!!"
..aalekh was getting impatient..

"hume pata nahi..."
"KYA?!"

"yes lt. we dont know...evrythng was going according to plan..hum kuch hadh tak successful bhi huye the..lekin 4 dino ke andar rajveer se army ke sare connections cut off ho gaye!!
..hum ab tak nahi jante woh kahan hai..aur iske 6 mahine baad..we presumed him dead...or shud i say the department presumed him dead..."

"lekin kyu??"
"kyunki is tarah ki missions par 6 mahine se zyaada lapata hona yehi darshata hai...isliye depatment ne yeh kiya.."

"aur aap??..."
..naina's qstn surprised the general..

"mujhe....mujhe apne officer par bharosa hai lt."

naina smiled..

"rajveer sir kahan gaye the???.."
"punjab borders.."
"kya aap loon ko kabhi koi..woh..message nahi mila...??"

it was aalkeh this time..

"i wont deny it..mile the..lekin jab hum wahan gaye..no one was found...."

"thik hai to ab....HUM WAHAN JAENGE.."

Sheikh ali yusuf khan sat by the small window looking out at the lone piece of blue sky midst the hustle bustle of the busy street beloW

He dint have his guitar nor did he have a place to pen his thoughts..

But yet..

That stretch of blue sky brought the feel of the humming of a voice.. a sweet voice.. a voice he loved to hear..

And also with the memory of the voice a face seemed to shimmer in front of his tired eyes!

She smiled her laugh{he was smiling himself too}..

That one time wen she hated him.. he remembered that pain too..
But again the time wen she had looked at him..eyes full of tears.. unable to even say.. 'I m sorry'

he cudnt help himself and his voice echoed in the room as he sang..

Dil.. karta hai nadaniyan...
Sehta hai lakhon sitam...
Rahi. chalna hai ab tere sang yuhi...

Tujhe mein dhoondhta phiru..
Meri har chahat hai tu...

His eyes closed.. a warm tear moved down his cheeks.. but was drowned amidst the raindrops that came in through the window..

The showers outside also made his voice fainter till it wasn't heard anymore..
