Hi all. This is delayed because my SAB tv went for a toss yesterday. This analysis is courtesy Nomi, to whom i want to say 'thank you' for uploading videos so regualrly. As somoeone who tried to upload a video and failed gloriously, i am in awe of you. π
Also, this post is especially for Rosemere, who left messages for me at two places asking why i hadnt done an analysis. Thanks for appreciating sweetheart!
So the first scene of Gaurav has him walking in humming a song... ek toh yeh kabhi aisa koi gaana kyun nahi hum karta jo maine suna ho.... yeh kuch apna hi music bana ke hum karte hai.... jai gaurav cobain ji ki!.... waise if kurt cobain had been alive right now and read this, this is the moment he would have killed himself!
He also bring 'maa ke dulaar se bhara' cake... incidentally whose ma?.... so far, lrl has been obsessed with fathers/surrogate fathers/male best friends.... these men and their relationships with each other have formed the core of the story... perhaps part of why Naina is appealing to all of them is that she has walked into this male world and wants her answers from it.... and she is doing this aggressively, sometimes insolently, but never charmingly..... it is Abhimanyu who does things charmingly but then he has grown up in a ceremonious world... Naina is more brash, but she is also younger... the dual worlds of Abhimanyu have made him what he is, the unidimensionality of Naina's 'mission' has made her what she is... and the two of them are interestingly androgynous.
Gaurav said the 'jo chale gaye unhe gham nahi, jo rah gaye unke gham kam nahi' well... serious but not overtly so... the dialogue too was ok, could have been better but not bad... especially when one hears what came next....
'Jeena wohi jaante hai jo apne ghamon ko iss cake ki tarah kachcha chaba jaate hai'.... uffffffffffffffffffffff... yeh kaun likhta hai?.... hit him/her... cake kachcha nahi hota.... woh usse maida nahi de raha khane ke liye.... matlab kuch bhi likh denge.... uffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
I liked the casualness with which he introduced Rajveer's name into the conversation... 'kaisa lagega agar woh sahi hoga toh?'.... Abhimanyu too has no answers... he has only questions.... but he is open to questions from every point of view... he is open to the idea that Rajveer may be right... he was also open to the idea of following this up and getting him punished by the system... he takes him time about these ideas... unlike Naina, he is not in a hurry to get the answers.... though to be fair, it is her brother who has died and not his.... most deaths, even when routine, are pointless and futile to those who lose the people they loved.... (perhaps the saddest are those that are not futile to anyone).... but death mired in controversy, death with the label of 'traitor' attached... at one level, dealing with those questions then becomes a way of dealing with the pointlessness and hopelessness of the death.... thats why its not surprising that Naina is desparate for answers.... they are her one way of coming to terms with the fact that her brother is dead.... perhaps she feels she'll be at peace when she knows the 'where, when, why, how' of it.... and yes one kind of peace will come to her when she knows her answers.... i just hope happiness too follows that peace.... usually answers dont bring the happiness we think they will.
Anyway, i will set the discourse of death aside... perhaps come back to it later someday.... too much of it in one go will only upset me.
And then she says 'koi sahi ho ya galat, no one can bring my brother back'.... and then THE shot.... pata hai, becuase i have gotten used to the way Gaurav acts, at times i tend to take his acting for granted in certain ways.... and then he does something that excites me all over again, that makes me want to go on following his work... this was one such shot... the pleasant expression on his face did not change.... he just lowered his eyelids, then lowered his face slightly, then there was a sigh but a very slight one, you had to be really quick to catch it.... then suddenly raising his eyelids and looking at her while saying 'at least aap phir se jeena toh shuru kar dengi'.... in that lowering of eyelid and face, in that 1/4th of a sigh and 1/10th of a smile, this is what i got 'ab main kya kahoon... there is no answer to this... do you think i havent grappled with these questions.... but life doesnt go on like that'.... i saw this entire struggle to come to terms with a friends death in one shot.... one shot, and not one scene... these lines, these emotions and these situations flashed through my mind as i was watching it.... it comes once in a while but he does these things in a shot or a scene that take your breath away because they say so much without essentially saying anything.... this was one of them. Its because he does things like these and that too in scenes where i least expect it that i shall try and catch up with his work irrespective of where i am...
Then there was one shot where he is personifying one kind of intezaar... yeh hawa ke jhonke se Naina ko inspiration kyun chahiye?... again, bad dialogue... his was the thehra wala intezaar.... usual good tarah se kiya.
So today is the big day?.... we'll get to see him in both four and hopefully a little bit more in lrl.... i'm very excited about four because the interveiw states he has a fun role and becuase i loved the name Param preet Singh.... Gaurav ko bahut suit karta hai π
Ciao....
