Thank you Rose for much awaited ud on Dutta's past, what a nightmare uff... poor Dutta , Damodar put him through hell and like any abused child he stayed quite to protect his mother from any harm, but alas it was not to be he lost his beloved mother who couldn't take the realty of the horror she witnessed , when you were writing about his nightmares I thought it might have been a fight between the husband and wife and somehow Dutta maybe accidently killed his SD never imagined such horror in my wildest ,craziest, scariest nightmares.( as for damoder it would have been better for Dutta to kill him with his own hands when his mother was no longer there, I know no one really wants dutta to become a murder but in this case he deserved to be tortured so he would beg to be killed, his death came too easy for his crimes) but it's good the way you've written it because it means Dutta is not responsible for a single crime in his past , he is will need to stop blaming himself.

Can't believe AS would have killed herself if she was in her right mind at that moment she was in a trance, otherwise she would have known Dutta would need her more than ever after going through what he had been.
Rose despite it being a disgusting truth of society ,you did very well in writing it sensitively without withholding the reality of the horrors of what the victims of abuse go through. self harm is common amongst them too just like Dutta they become very aggressive, probably feeling angry with themselves for not being able to stop the person from doing that to them so they take it out on themselves... this topic is daily news in uk because of abuse at care homes, where it has come to light that boys were taken from children's homes supplied to people in power for their pleasure ufff the horrors of society.. so I thank you from bottom of my heart for showing what evil desires a human being to treat another so disgustingly .

The issue of ' child abuse' is very sensitive and painful and i don't think that i have it in me to do justice to such an issue with my writing (but still thanks a lot nakusha and tahera for the support and appreciation). However i really wanted to write about it because its very relevant and happens everywhere.
just today i came across this article and thought of sharing it with you.

http://www.rediff.com/getahead/report/achievers-sheetal-jain-from-mumbais-red-light-district-is-studying-drumming-in-the-usa/20140929.htm

excerpts from this article.

Sheetal Jain's mother was a bar dancer. Every other night, she would return with a different man. One of those men became her partner and Sheetal's stepfather.

"There were times when he touched me in ways I was not sure was appropriate," Sheetal says over the phone in Hindi. "But I was too young. And he said it was all right."

The first few times Sheetal wasn't even sure what was going on. "I was very little. It was only later, as I grew older, I realised that the way he 'loved' me in public was very different from how he treated me in private."

According to Sawnani, suppression of her fear caused by years of severe sexual abuse led to psychosomatic disorders.

"She would have lingering pain in her legs and shoulders and recurring nightmares. Over time, with therapy, she came to peace with what has happened to her. And the traumatic symptoms reduced."

Today, Sheetal is open about her past. She has spoken, on several platforms, about being sexually abused, including at One Billion Rising, the global campaign to end violence against women and promote gender equality.

"Most of us (abuse victims) blame ourselves. It was only at Kranti, at the various therapy sessions and workshops, that I realised it wasn't my fault. And that I had to move on."

"She was recently in Himachal Pradesh attending a workshop and staying with a local family.

"The man of the family was making her uncomfortable.

"Earlier, she would have ignored it, stuck with the women of the household and not confront him.

"This time around, she refused to take the nonsense."

Unsurprisingly, around the same time, she also revealed to her mother what her partner did to her.

"That man had moved on from their lives and so, even though the abuse had stopped, her mother hadn't known what had happened," Sawnani says.

"We thought she would reject the idea and blame Sheetal. Instead, she asked Sheetal why she didn't tell her earlier."

This, according to Sawnani, has been a huge milestone in the otherwise strained relationship between mother and daughter.

Sheetal blames her mother for not saving up enough and for not being a good mother.

Rose agreed the subject is sensitive, but I aso cannot deny you did a brilliant job with your outstanding writing abilities , if you hadn't how would we truly understand the pain Dutta suffered all for his mother and why he is keeping such tight reins on Annay, I am off to have some time off with family in Wales and London but looking forward to next ud.. which I will get to read there 😃... it's one of the reasons I commented earlier than usual.

Hi rose

you highlighted a sensitive topic...deserve hats off...I feel in case of remarriage...people should be more considerate towards child...it starts with excuse for filling the gap left by deceased parent...no time it becomes secondary...I 'm not against remarriage...child deserve more time from concern from living parent...dutta's changed behavior got unnoticed by AS ...it's very sad...dutta is worth all love...ud soon

HI Rose

I don't know what to say this ud Is shocking and a very sensitive but I must give It to you this whole ud truthful that why a abuse young child are kept they don't understand whats happened to them or they are shamed they are always told to keep quite and the abuser gets away with It for so long.

Dutta finally opened his dark past to Nakku damodar was so brutal and sick man. Poor Dutta really felt so sad for him. good His mother killed him. Nakku now understand why he behaves like this. Nakku should understand this pain better and help him show him love and care. PLS UD really soon

Thanks as always Take care

TMD~ chapter 18

Hi Rosie,

Fantastic to see that Nakusha is making headway with Dutta, slowly but firmly..also shows her determination in tackling his set ways.. his fixed temperament of living life his way. Holi, with it's colours !rejoicing in the world with our loved ones is a great way forward for Nakusha to gently coerce him out of his colourless malaise.

Such an endearing scene between both of them wishing Holi to each other.. the green colour he chooses is to me a positive green signal for his personal relationship with his newly wedded wife..life seems to smiling all around him..what with him coming to terms with annay's interaction with his peers as well..

The forced inclusion of himself in holi celebrations is a joyous read, especially the references to the cadence of the drum, and forced consumption of bhang.. all in good fun..

I had anticipated that since he is high and wound up by the event of Holi.. kind of keeping up appearances...but he will crack tonight.

Rose, must commend you for using characters in this story to throw light on child abuse/molestation. It is a bold subject and in many cultures and societies it's brushed under the carpet. Nine out of ten.. the abuser is someone close, family, neighbour, or someone in place of trust and duty of care. The abuser.. as you show in the story thrives on emotionally black mailing the abused.. another bold yet prevalent fact is raising awareness of rape.. with a gender deviation from only female to male. In certain societies and cultures where sexual permissiveness is discouraged.. young boys are abused readily to curb desires of older males.

Damoder, carrying about the abuse before his friends.. is even more alarming.. goes to show it's a group of men who are in the business of running such a heinous racket! obviously it's a matter of mutual interests..sad.. shocking but not unheard of.

Rosie the chapter shows the anguish of the young abused Dutta.. scarred for god knows how long..?but the chapter does to me.. give the message that adults in care of children, need to be aware of child's tell-tale signs, withdrawn generally both at school, sudden loss of appetite, underachieving academically, bed wetting.. disrupted sleep... may be other medical reasons too.. but carers need to be alert. Carers, talk to your child about.. different types of "touch", "touching" the good touch, a hug ,a kiss.. but then talk about the touch..hug.. kiss that makes the child uncomfortable... teach the child in care to inform the carer parent, if some one says to the child.."this is our little secret ".. threats..

In this chapter, you have clearly denounced sexual abuse/rape in no uncertain way. You have shown the emotional scars of abuse in Dutta's other wise normal successful business routine.. after learning about his past all the pieces that make up his persona in the story fall into place..

So my dear rosie.. hammie , lauds your effort in raising awareness of such an common, yet unspoken issue of our society.. well woven into the story.

Please continue .. much love for a thought provoking chapter, fantastically written.

Yours hammie.
