Contributions of the Character

Baji Rao

Without Baji Rao there would be no Dutta Bhao. He is in a way responsible for the creation of Dutta Baho. But then Baji has spent his entire life protecting, comforting DSP as his right hand man and best friend. He will lay his life for Dutta without a second thought and has many a times stood like a wall between Dutta and the bullet. Baji is the only person with whom Dutta Shreeram Patil can be himself.

Even though Baji has seen the dark side of life along with Dutta, he still retains his sense of humor and happy go lucky nature.

A perfect contrast and complement to Dutta's brooding character, Baji Rao is like the sunshine in the serial. His ability to see the lighter side of life, fun loving nature and perfect comic timing is the balancing factor.

Baji understands Dutta's silence, moods, emotions and requirements even before Dutta himself does. Baji realizes that Naku is in love with Dutta and does not hesitate to tell a shocked Dutta ~ Bhao naku aap se pyar karti hai...

Baji,is like a soothing balm in the turbulent Patil Niwas. The person on whom everyone depends on ..from arranging parties or poojas, taking care of security to carrying out Dutta's unfinished business late into the night.

Naku is like a sister to Baji and he stands by her unquestioningly when she does a la DSP style searching for DSP from village to village.

Baji Rao makes us laugh and makes us cry him. The perfect friend and brother- the knight who shines in the darkest of the nights. He is symbolic of unconditional love, loyalty and true friendship. Only Baji can get slapped by Dutta, his only true love, trying to arrange a party him and then break into a song.

If Dutta is the soul of LTL then Baji is the heart

Well, carrying the analogies a bit further and connecting in to a game of chess, if Dutta is the King of LTL, does it make Baji his _____________ (I leave it to you to fill in the blank, my dear LTLians). 😊

Looking forward to your views on Baji's contribution to LTL...

yay! me 1st... surprised sophie and BB didnt gt here b4 me..lol..they r mad abt baji 😉😆

baji indeed as u rightly put it, is 1 very impt character..a mre real character than naku...i felt naku seemed 2 perfect 2 b true while baji was sum1 we all could connect 2 on one level or another...becos jus like al of us he had his moments where he did a job greatly n times where he messed up badly...he wasn't totally perfect... and thats something that made his character seem more real and genuine than naku's...(no offence 2 naku's character...i loved her bt felt she was too good to eva b true)

i recall many of us questioning his ability in fulfilling his responsibilities of security...obv being the right man of dutta bhao he shud hav been mre alert...had his eyes open mre bt i gues like any normal human being der r times wer u cnt see everythings tht cumin ur way...and 2 evn expect tht is stupidity...as unexpected things do tke place...

on the whole baji was a complete entertainer...he made us laugh, smile, cry, angry etc...der was a whole load of emotions we experienced with baji... his humourous love letter writing techniques... his dimpled wala smile... his heart aching convo with dutta wen he was drunk and sed the famous "jaan ke baazi...zubaan ki baazi..FARK hai"👏 and also anger wen he like others misunderstood naku during sups getaway...so as a whole he was a gr8 character 2 watch and vinay had done a gr8 job in portraying it altho i feel vinay's chocolate boy luks at times didnt let him gt the right expression on his face...he didnt suit any angry man luk...wich the odd few times he was meant 2 shw...

i think his character was very very dif 4rm dutta's...they usually say the opposites attract phrase works best with life partners but i think it can apply 2 friends too..and the fine example is our very own duji... they wer poles apart yet had such an unbreakable bond of friendship/trust...👏 baji wasn't as serious abt life and relations as dutta was due 2 the simple fact tht he hadnt fallen in love to be deceived by his lover unlike dutta... i guess tht experience changed dutta mre and the difference of personalities between the 2 became evn mre visible bt 1 thing tht didnt change was der friendship...i always thrt baji had the skill to bring a lighter and relaxed side of dutta out...der wer moments wer u saw dutta smile a little due 2 baji's behaviour...i.e. scene where baji was writing love letter 4 supriya on behalf of dutta😆...dutta smiled a few times😳... so it was gd 2 c tht despite being dutta's right hand, dey wer stil friends...having said that there was 1 particular scene wer he it seemed tht baji did see himself less than dutta... watch from 10.50 onwards..he says "hum jaise log tere liye apni jaan bhi de sakhte hai..." he mentions along the lines tht they do this becos they can see the value of their life in his eyes... tht sentence...dialogue made me feel tht in tht moment baji was talking 2 dutta nt as his friend bt as dutta bhao (master)..let me knw wt u guys think...i myt b wrong

as we all knw baji was the 1 to introduce dutta 2 this bad side...nw i remember @ the time this was thoroughly discussed and der wer 2 very distinct opinions abt it at all... personally i feel being a friend, he shud NOT hav introduced dutta 2 the crime world...it wasnt jus a bad thing to do bt it was a job tht he knw was risky and life threatening...yet he introduced him 2 it...a true friend wud neva do tht... but having said tht he stook by dutta through thick and thin and never back stabbed him 2 gt the top of the underworld, summut very less ppl wil do..he was satisfied with jus working under his bhao... his best friend... bt stil being a friend he shud neva hav introduced dutta 2 the underworld becos he knew of the dangers involved nt onli 2 dutta bt to his family too whom baji considered his own too... so no i dont think it was a right decision 2 take... thts 1 thing i didnt like abt him at the time... bt as i sed earlier there r two dif opinions abt it..and its al down 2 hw u c the picture...

i think there r other alternative ways of making money... i hate the narrow thinking that u can onli earn money by going down the wrong route...thats a very wrong statement...far from the real truth... u can remain on the right path...do things the right way...and earn lots of money... it jus requires mre hard work and honestly...its very easy 2 tread on the wrong bad during bad times bt very dif 2 tread on the right path during bad times...i guess thts the time wen a person is put to test..and sumwer duji failed 2 remain on the right path

There is always requirement of a character in a show that gives life to the whole scene and scenario even in the tense environment... Like the one we had in Patil Niwas... Always angry and brooding Dutta... Always crying Aayi Saheb... Always mad in planning sister-trio... Baji was that character that was breath of fresh air in that tense environment of PN... A comic yet sensitive character...

The character of Baji not only had these qualities... he was a support and friend to Dutta... Baji was one who provided emotional security to his childhood friend as well as was relied upon by Dutta for his own and his family's physical security...

Baji is the character whose background and past was not revealed as much in the show... his family was only Dutta and thru Dutta he was somehow knitted with Dutta's Family... His smile, bubblyness, his comic characterization filled the air with some relief...

Is this little trivia begging for a dostana related answer or what! 😉😆 But I must be serious here and refrain from assigning Baaji a queen's status. I'd say Baaji is the castle, the mighty fortress that all outside enemies will have to get through to get to the king.

The question is not begging for the expected answer...but beyond😆.

I have always felt that Duji was a relation that was not explored enough...

If its Tasha vs Duji ..it would be difficult for me to choose...so given a choice I would vote for BATASHA...otherwise its Duji...a 2+ decade friendship, through thick and thin, is IMO something difficult to beat😊

Now about your question...I have always seen Dutta as the lion in the disney movie "The lion king".

So if Dutta is the lion then Baji would be...I do not know...😕

But...As the king of the jungle...Baji will always be Dutta's right hand. 😃

What a brilliant piece of writing, Ivy! one character that is no less than the major ones. In fact you have quite rightly said so,he compliments Dutta... I would add, that Baji shares his accolades with Naku in terms of completing Dutta as a key character of LTL1.
Your piece of text just by the mention of one name takes me through an admixture of scenarios, what a variety, an immense treat to read. The colour coding in the piece of writing,makes it easier for the reader to pick out the strands of the thread. So well done, mate.
For me Baji brought out various obvious aspects of characters in role.
For AS, he further brings out the role of a mother who is large hearted in terms of adpoting , a so to speak boy, who has no one and is minus a domestic base. She becomes the compassionate mother who gives one born of another ,the love and protection she gives her own, thus complimenting the role of a woman who mothers.
In Kishore, he brings out the hope that despite evil lurkings around the corridors and closed rooms of PN , some goodness still remains in the genuine transparent persona of Baji.
For, Kala, it further brngs out her negativity of inherent hate for any body who supports her brother. Baji provides her reasons to create rifts between her brother and someone he trusts and confides in. So ,yes,Baji extends Kala's character , negatively though.
For, Naku, he provides another reason for the maid to stick around PN, a place where she is treated as a second class human being due to her looks and her social status. He accepts her as she is ,and thus raises her self esteem ,by his jests and jokes; in fact he is a vehicle for her to reach out to the dark master of the household.
For Dutta, Baji is all the things you mentioned. However, to me Baji also is Dutta's partner in crimes, all the dark deeds Dutta is involved in, his party to.. in aiding , abetting and executing unwelcome activities in PW. In fact, Baji helps Dutta to his gadhi of Bhaoship. So my thought for the moment is would Dutta have made it Big as the revered and feared Dutta Bhao... without Baji...
