Dear forum friends, after reading some comments from yourselves today, for which Iam grateful, Iam further inspired to write some more.....This is no way on my part to undermine the knowledgeof you my learned friends, which Iam sure is more than mine....any way..
Shakespeare as many of us are aware is best know for his tradegies, comedies, historical plays and sonnets. For me personally its the tradegies that grip my interest...... And this is why.... they are based on Greek tragedies where the Hero is a man who is portrayed larger than life; who has universal appeal and his actions are felt by everyone......A main of high station, power and prowess....A strong character with attributes in him that cause his metiorc rise , and the excess of one of his characteristic traits also causes his ultimate doom! One fatal flaw in him overpowers him....... In Shakespeare some of his famous tragic protagonists displayed this trait.....for Hamlet it was his procastination of claiming his rightful place on the throne of Denmark... for Macbeth it was his proud overiding ambition that eventually destroyed him..... With Otellho it was his green jealousy that killed him and his lady love....... With Lear it was his error of judjement that overtook him...... With Romeo it was his unstoppable love for Juliet that brought his doom....... although by dying he did end the fued between the two hostile families......... Iam not suggesting that all tragic heroes must die .but that's just how the plays end..........
