The infidelity track is legitimate and I think the why of that has been covered by ltl_fan and others in this thread. If any man or woman has been cheated in a relationship, not once, but multiple times, I think it's only humanly instinctive to think that it has happened once more or can happen yet again. The mind has no rhyme or reason, especially when you become paranoid about something like this as is Dutta, so if he panics and jumps to a thought as such...I think it only reiterates that he is a deeply flawed individual, susceptible to assumption, doubts and mistakes just like any other person is. He is not a great man and he is not someone who ever made great claims in love. If we have these expectations of him to be noble and knightly and fully trusting, it's because we want to see that and not because he has ever exemplified any of those traits in omnitude.
Do I think it is a good time to have this track in the show? I don't know. Since we haven't seen it pan out and none of us know how exactly things will transpire, I can't say whether it will be for the betterment of the show or possibly ruin it...that yet remains to be seen.
The reason why I think many people don't like this track though is because it is a test of DN's love, or more particularly, it is a test of Dutta's love...and in that is the conundrum, because he is a character we love too much to see failing and falling. Nakku's love has always been open for us to witness and believe in...there is always the reassurance that no matter what happens, her love for Dutta will never waver...it is constant, true and guaranteed...something that cannot be questioned point-blank. But Dutta...can the same be said about him? No, not with certainty 😊 Because he is volatile, unpredictable and damaged...because he is someone unsure even about his own self and being, let alone another person. He does not even understand himself, he does not have much self-respect, he does not even consider himself rational (ulti khopdi and all)...so how can we be sure about his love for another person when he himself is so insecure? There is a huge possibility that Dutta might fail this test, we know it, and so we don't want to see this track which may butcher our belief and expectations in him. We don't want to see a track which 'blemishes' the purity of DN's relationship, which may possibly convolute it...but the truth is that Dutta and Nakku as people themselves are blemished in many ways, and anything this infidelity track can show would only draw on those blemishes, those challenges and demons which can be ignored but not erased. If Dutta does not have blind trust on Nakku, it is not because Nakku's love has failed in any way, it's because Dutta has been failed and scarred by other people in his life before Nakku. If Dutta doesn't have explicit trust in Nakku, it doesn't mean that their relationship has failed...it just goes to show how damaged Dutta is as a person. Does that mean he doesn't deserve Nakku's love? Maybe some will say yes. But she loved him with so many of his flaws, and this is another one of them...she loved him even knowing how difficult he is, and even when his trust falters on her, I don't think Nakku will ever love him any less for it. Dutta might not deserve a love as noble as Nakku's, but he deserves fixing, and I'm glad there is a Nakku for him who will never give up on him. For many, that may seem frustrating and unfair and demeaning, but for me, it holds other-worldly beauty and a soul-level, transcending faith...which is so rare, in fiction and reality.
