Part 11

This Chapter is dedicated to all the Mothers in the world... They give birth to us, looks after us, sacrifice everything for us. Hats off to them.

While Bela sits on the frozen with Nakku and Khushi, Baaji and Dutta with 2 other man carries the body with Pandit and go to the place for the last rites. Bela sees them taking her away gets up with a jerk and runs to her mum.

Bela: Nahin.. Mat jao.. Mat Jao

Baaji looks at her sadly: Bela?

Bela cries: Maaa

Baaji: Apne aapko sambhalo Bela

Bela: Mujhe chod kar mat jao ma..

Nakku looks at her sadly: Bela... aatim sanskar karna zaroori hain

Bela breaks down on her knees: Nahin...woh mujhe chod kar nahin ja sakti..

The men and DuJi puts her mum back on the floor, Bela hugs her crying her heart out. Baaji sits down next to her and puts his hand on her shoulder; she looks back at him and hugs him crying uncontrollably. TaSha and Everyone stand them sad. A lady helps Bela up while they men take her mum away, Bela screams and cries.

All the men are standing, Pandit gives baaji the pot, he puts it on his shoulder and Pandit makes a hole at the back. Baaji goes around the pyre and drops it down with tears rolling down his cheeks. Pandit gives him the fire, Baaji looks at Dutta who nods at him, but Baaji is reluctant and looks at the road to see if Bela is coming. He takes a deep breath and turns to the pyre. Just then Bela comes running shouting "Rukooo"... Everyone looks back, Baaji sees her and is relieved.

Pandit: Ladkiyan funeral mein nahin aate beti

Bela: Meri ma ke liye main sab kuch thi

Baaji: Panditji... Ladka ho ya Ladki, Ma ko koi farak nahin parta.

Bela looks at baaji with tears, Baaji hands her the fire and Bela takes it but her hands starts shaking. Baaji stands next to her, holds her hand and lights the pyre. Nakku looks from far with tears, Dutta notice Nakku and looks at her. He signals her to come but she looks at Khushi in her arms. He nods understanding what she meant. Bela drops down on the ground looking at the fire burning away.

A few hours later, only TaSha and BaLa are there with Pandit, He gives them the ashes and leaves. Baaji takes it and looks at Bela on the floor who isn't reacting anymore. Dutta takes the ashes and Baaji picks her up.

Back at Bela's house, Baaji makes her sit down and kneels infront of her. TaSha stands behind baaji.

Baaji holds her hand: Bela? *She doesn't respond* Dekh aisa nahin chalega.. bol na.. main chokra.. main yeda... ladna mujhse.

Just the a man comes in. TaSha and Baaji looks back at him. He comes near them and smirks.

Man: Main iss ghar ka malik.

Baaji: Aapko kya kaam hain?

Man: Iss ghar ko khali kardo

Baaji: KYA? Kyun?

Man: Savitri ji (Bela's mum) ne 5 mahine pehle yeh ghar ko girvi rakka tha... ab yeh mera ghar hain.

Baaji: Eyy... Kya bakwaas bol raha hain tu?

Dutta: Koi saboot hain tere paas?

Man: Haan bilkul.

The man hands the property papers to Dutta and he reads it. He gives it to Baaji silently. Baaji reads it shockingly and looks at Bela who is sitting down mum. Baaji nods at the man and he gives them 2 hours to vacant the house. He leaves.

Baaji: Yeh kya hogaya bhau?

Nakku: Baaji, mujhe lagta hain ke humein Bela ko ghar le jaana chahiye.

Dutta: Haan.

Nakku: Main kuch samaan pack karti hoon.

Baaji nods: Lekin Bhau.. AS?

Dutta: Tu chinta mat kar... Tu yahan Bela ke paas beit, main Nakku ki madat karta hoon.

TaSha checks the rooms and finds some pictures on Bela and her mum on the wall. Dutta takes a suitcase which was on top of a wardrobe and puts it on the bed. Nakku puts Khushi on the bed and starts packing the pictures and a few clothes.

Nakku: Agar Bela hamare saath rahegi to uski maan bhi halka ho jayega

Dutta: Haan... Ek din mein kya kuch nahin hua..

Nakku: Bechari sadme mein hain

Dutta: Mujhe pura yakeen hain baaji usse sambhal lega aur hum sab hain na uske saath

Nakku: Aap bohut acche ho

Dutta smiles and sees a box on the dressing table. He opens it and finds a letter with some jewelleries. He takes the letter and puts the box back down. Nakku looks at him questioningly. Dutta opens the letter and reads it.

"Meri pyari Bela, mujhe nahin pata ke tumhari shaadi ke waqt main zinda rahoongi ya nahin, lekin yeh gehne meri hain... meri saas ne mujhe diya tha jab meri shaadi hui thi... main chahti hoon ke jab tumhare shaadi ho jaye to tum yeh gehne pehenlo..."

Dutta folds the letter and puts it back in the box. He gives it to Nakku and she puts it in the suitcase.

Baaji is sitting next to Bela holding her hand. Dutta comes with the suitcase, Nakku behind him with Khushi.

Dutta: Chal... Ghar chal

Baaji stands up and makes Bela stand up, he holds her hand and takes her to the car, makes her sit, Nakku gets in next to her with Khushi and Dutta closes the door. DuJi sits infront and make their way to PN.

.....

Its night time and Patil niwasis are sitting in the hall waiting for the TaSha and Baaji. AS is worried. Just then TaSha walks in. AS rushes to them.

AS: Itni dher kyun lagi? Kya hua?

Dutta: AS...

Just then Baaji comes in holding Bela in his arms. Everyone is shocked and looks at Dutta questioningly. Dutta tells them everything.

AS: Ayi jagdambe... yeh kya hua iss bacchii ke saath... Baaji usse guest room mein lekar jao.

Baaji nods and makes his way upstairs.

AS: Nakku, tu thak gayi hogi, jao araam karo.. main khana bhej ti hoon.

Dutta: Main abhi aya... Yeh Bela ka suitcase hain.

AS nods and TaSha goes upstairs. Kala looks at them angrily and comes to AS.

Kala: AS... yeh ghar hain koi aashram nahin.

AS: Kala.. yeh kaisi baat kar rahi ho?

Kala: Lekin As...

AS: Mujhe kuch nahin sunna hain.. jao aur sau jao.

Kala: Haan meri baat kaun sunta hain... yahan to sirf aap, bhau aur Vayhini rehte hain... hum kuch nahin.

AS: Kala.. mujhe koi baat nahin karna... Bela akeli hain..

Roops: Haan tai.. bechari ke saath bohut kuch hua

Kala walks off angrily. AS sighs and goes to her room, so does Roops and Leela.

......

Baaji puts Bela on the bed and covers her up, he looks at her with teary eyes and has a flashback of her screaming and crying. Dutta comes there and puts his hand on baaji's shoulder. Baaji jumps and looks back. Dutta puts the suitcase down and nods no to him. Baaji hugs Dutta. Nakku looks at them from the door and smiles.

Dutta: Let her sleep, you go to bed.

Baaji: I don't think i should leave her. What if she wakes up in the middle of the night?

Dutta: Ok, you stay here with her. And if you need anything, come to me ok?

Baaji: Thanks bhau

Dutta: Thanks? Bhai hoon tumhara.. Thanks nahin kehte.

Baaji smiles and wipes his tears. Nakku goes to her room. Baaji sits on the sofa and Dutta goes to his room and sees Nakku sitting on the bed lost in her thoughts. He sits next to her and puts his hand on top of hers. Nakku comes back to her senses and looks at Dutta tearfully. She hugs him.

Dutta hugging her back: Kya hua?

Nakku: Mujhe bohut darr lag rahi hain

Dutta: Kyun?

Nakku: Jo bhi Bela ke saath hua... main nahin chahti ke kal yeh sab Khushi ke saath....

Dutta puts a finger on her lips and nods no. Nakku hugs him again.

Next morning, Baaji wakes up and sees Bela still sleeping; he looks at her with a smile and goes to freshen up. After a little while, Nakku comes to Bela's room and doesn't find Baaji, she puts breakfast on the table and sits on the bed next to Bela.

Nakku: Bela.. Bela.. utho.. *Nakku touches her hand and Bela is boiling hot*.. Bela.. oh no.. Arre isse to bhukar hain..

Baaji comes back and sees Nakku worried: Kya hua Vayhini?

Nakku: Baaji... Bela ko bhukar hain... Doctor ko phone karo

Baaji: Kya? Bhukar? Kal woh theek thi... Haan abhi phone karta hoon... *Calls the doctor*

Dutta comes with Khushi and sees BaSha worried: Kya hua?

Baaji: Bela ko bukhar hain..

Dutta: Doctor ko phone karo..

Baaji: abhi kiya hain.. ata hi hoga

Dutta: Baaji, kal se tumne kuch nahin khaya... Nashta kar.

Baaji: Nahin.. bhook nahin hain

Nakku: Agar tum nahin khaoge to Bela ka khayal kaise rakoge?

Baaji: Lekin...

Dutta: Lekin kuch nahin...

Nakku takes Khushi from Dutta; he makes Baaji sit down and feeds him. Baaji eats quietly like a little child.

.....

Doctor is checking Bela and everyone is standing outside the room. Baaji is pacing around worriedly while TaSha looks at him.

Doctor comes out: Dekhiye maine injection laga diya hain.. Aap yeh dawai unko khane ke baad de dijiye.

Baaji: Ji Doctor.. *Goes to drop doctor downstairs*

TaSha goes to the room and looks at Bela. Baaji comes back and sits next to her on the bed. Bela opens her eyes and looks straight at the ceiling with tears falling out of her eyes sideways. Baaji looks at her with concern and wipes her tears. Nakku puts Khushi on the bed infront of Baaji and opens the suitcase. She takes the pictures out and starts handing them on the wall and putting some on the table.

Dutta: What are you doing?

Nakku: Maybe if she sees her mums pictures, she will react.

Dutta: Hmm.. You're right.

Dutta helps her put the pictures up and puts the jewellery box on the dressing table.

Dutta: Baaji... leave her alone for a while.

Baaji looks at her sadly and they all leave the room closing the door. TaSha and BaShi sits in the hall with everyone looking towards Bela's room worriedly.

2 hours passed by and Bela is still lying down, She clench the bed sheet and sits up and she sees the pictures right on the opposite wall. She looks around and sees all the pictures. She gets up and walks towards them and stands infront of one of her and her mum hugging each other. She runs her fingers over it lightly and walks to the next one of her kissing her mum on the cheeks, tears starts rolls down her cheeks when she walks across the next one of her sleeping on her mum's lap.

Bela starts singing.... *Song: Paas Bulati Hai...Movie: Jaanwar* (Please listen to the song so that u get the actual feeling)

Everyone in the hall looks towards her room shockingly.

Bela picks up a picture of her and her mum smiling at each other and holds it to her chest

She wipes her tears and picks up the jewellery box

TaSha and Baaji comes upstairs and opens her door a little bit silently, they look at her sadly.

She holds the necklace her mum left for her and sits on the floor crying

She gets up and takes another picture of her mum feeding her. She leans against the wall and hugs the picture

She sees the pot of Ashes on the table and has a flashback of her burning pyre.

She looks at the picture of her sleeping on her mum's lap again and has a flashback of her mum tapping her back lightly making her sleep

Baaji leans against the wall outside and cries silently. TaSha comforts him

Bela sees her mum standing next to the window and runs to her, she hugs her and the mum starts singing...

The mum hugs her and they both sit down on the bed.

She cups Bela's face and wipes her tears

Bela cries and hugs her mum.

She makes Bela stand up and puts the necklace on her. Bela looks at her with tears

She stands up and walks backward, she opens her arms and signals bela to come hug her.

Bela runs to her mum but she vanishes.. She looks around and doesn't see anyone.

Bela breaks down on the floor crying with the necklace in her hand.
Aaaaaaaaaaa

*Song Finishes*

Baaji and TaSha comes in and sees her on the floor crying. Baaji sits down next to her and puts his hand on her shoulder, Bela looks at him "Baaji" she screams in pain and buries her head in his chest. Baaji envelopes his hand around her and lets her cry her heart out. TaSha looks at them sadly and leaves them alone for a while.

Bela cries: Yeh kya hogaya baaji? Meri maa.. maa

Baaji: Ssshh jitna rona hain... rau lo.. lekin chup mat raho..

Bela: Sab kuch bikar gaya baaji.. mera ghar... meri parivaar.. meri duniya.. sab kuch

Baaji feels sad and runs his hand through her hair consoling her.

Bela breaks the hug and looks at him: Itna ehsaan mat karo mujhpar... Main yahan nahin reh sakti..

Baaji: Kyun?

Bela: Tum mujhe jaante hi nahin ho... main kaun hoon.. kahan se aayi hoon..

Baaji: Mujhe kuch nahin jaana.. ab yeh tumhara bhi ghar hain... Aur tum yahan hi rahoge.

Bela: Yeh tum kaisi baat kar rahe ho? Mujhe koi ashram mein chod do...

Baaji: Nahin... aaj se tum yahan rahogi.. samjhe.. aur zid mat kar..

Bela: Lekin...

Baaji: Tujhe meri kasam.

Bela looks at him sadly and hugs him again. Baaji holds her back and wipes his own tears.
