So I feel I'm on a roll today. I hope you've had a chance to read and hopefully enjoy the other four stories under the other TeleBirdie title.
So I have a special report for you:
TELEBIRDIE SPECIAL: Stars talk about letters from fans
Mishal Raheja (Dutta Bhao, Laagi Tujhse Lagan)
Today, we are talking with stars of Tellywood about their fans. First, we have Dutta Bhao himself...Mishal Raheja.
TB: Welcome, Mishal.
MR: Thank you very much.
TB: You are one of the most popular guys on TV these days. LTL is always in the top 10, and many attribute that to your character Dutta Bhao, and your acting.
MR: That's really nice of you to say. But it is the whole cast and crew. We work hard. I take my role very seriously. I waited a long time for the right role as you know.
TB: Today we are talking about fans and some of the letters you have received from your most loyal fans. Would you like to share some with us?
MR: I won't mention the names as these letters were meant for me, and I love my fans. They are very sweet to me. I'm always amazed at how much they shower me with love. Speaking of shower, here is a recent one:
I am going to read just an excerpt:
"Mishal, I love you, love you, love you. And yesterday, I saw your shower scene. I can't believe they made you do a shower scene. But I respect your professionalism. For a moment I lost myself, I'm embarrassed to say and I wished I was your shower water!"
TB: "Arre, Mishal. "Naariyal ka pani?"
MR: "Nahi, nahke pani."
TB: Ummm...next letter!
MR: "Mishal, you are such an amazing actor. You and Dutta Bhao, not Mahi, are the reasons for my watching LTL. I have nam nam thoughts all the time..."
TB: "Ram ram thoughts?"
MR: "Nahi...likha hua--nam nam"
TB: "Woh kya hain"
MR: <uncomfortable silence> Ermm...I don't know. Let me read the next one.
MR: "Mishal, you are my favorite. You are perfect as Dutta Bhao. Noone can ever take your place. Your expressions, your intensity, your complexity, you phulwari..."
TB: "Phulwari??? What's that? I'm confused.
MR: I think it means my chest...<MR looks around>
TB: Mishal, it seems your fans have created a whole new language for you. That is a great compliment!
MR: Yes, I told you. They spoil me with their sweetness and nicknames! <laughs cute laugh>
TB: Ok, Mishal. One last letter. This has been very interesting. I don't think I've come across another fan language. Wow!
MR: Ok, TeleBirdie. Last one. "Dear Mishy, you are so awesome. You take our breath away with your acting. Dutta is so strong and vulnerable, so tough and sweet. All these things you show with your perfect acting. So many scenes stand out in my mind...you and Naku hugging after the mandir, your talk in the car before it falls over the cliff, the hug at Anna's, and also when Naku sewed on your button on your kurta. So sweet. If only I could hide in your kurta." In fact, some fan sent me a kurta without buttons and offered to sew them on for me while I wore it!
TB: Arre Bapre! <TeleBirdie does not know what to say> You have some really loving fans, huh Mishal?
