As we sit and watch and giggle and succumb to the charms of this romance, I had to ask your thoughts on one matter.

I just responded to a post regarding how Dutta would be post-reveal...e.g. secure/insecure, etc.

This show will have to evolve, change in many ways. In the past, we spent so much time discussing the essence of the show--both on the surface and below. But with the reveal, wedding, and so forth, I think the essence has to change a bit as well.

Now I hope we are not treated (and I say that facetiously) to episodes and episodes of beauty fixation...e.g. AS and everyone dazzled by Naku's real looks. Let's face it, while Roops, Suds, Leela, Kala, Kishore, Baji, the BG may be surprised, worried, they are NOT going to change their opinion of her. Those who respected her before will respect her still, perhaps more. However, the beauty will not make the naukrani acceptable to the snobs in the family.

I think the story will have to move on to the topics of TRUST and RELATIONSHIPS, what appears to be and what isn't real (e.g. love, respect). And for this, the looks related essence---the ugly girl/hot guy, beauty good/not good--has to be tweaked a bit...make that a lot. It's not about Naku's looks anymore...it's about family, husband-wife love, and relationships.

What say you?

Those who hate Naku now have a new weapon in their arsenal. Dutta will understand, and hence Baji will understand. Kishore too. But the others...let's just say, they just say they got a new cause to take up....how can they possibly accept someone who has lived among them and hid her face. Something so basic as a face? What else is she hiding? Even as the family welcomed her, showed her respect, she still deceived them? THAT is exactly what they will say. And I don't think anyone of us can find fault with their "new cause". It's wrong, clearly. Naku's actions don't HURT anyone per se, but they are DISHONEST, like lying about your name, your opinions, other things about you.

Naku just gave Kala a second chance. But fortunately for us, Dutta is able to understand the difference and will stand by Naku, 100%.

I wholeheartedly agree GP. The show is more than the mere ugly duckling to swan fairytale, especially with the way Dutta's character has shaped up so the concept of the show will and needs to evolve to convey how DN as a couple tackle trust and honesty in their own relationship as well as the one D shares with his siblings.

LTL has been redefining the meaning of love from the start not just between lovers but the love you have for your family.
Both D and N selflessly love their family yet yearn for the reciprocation of their unconditional love because they hail from dysfunctional families.

For Naku, its being ditched by her biological father and accepting an almost 'heartless' step-father (well his uselessness stems largely from being an alcoholic as Ganpat mentions that before he became unemployed, they had no complaints from him as he was providing for them and he had offered them shelter in their hour of need). Nonetheless, the constant bickering between Ganpat and Babi created an unpleasant environment to grow up in.

For Dutta its the loss of his father at an early age, the family responsibilities shifting to his shoulders before he probably even had the chance to grieve. Also, we are yet to know about his biological mother so that must niggle at Dutta too. Of course the truth of his siblings hatred of his happiness will be the most shattering one of all.

I would like to see Dutta and Naku discussing their respective families with each other and evaluating the flaws but ultimately finding solace in each other.

Seriously, I love how psychologically rich LTL is as it adds to the believability of the characters.

I agree GP...once the reveal happens and Dutta accepts the fair Naku the show will undergo a change. I for one want to see how life treats these two eternal lovers live for the moment and each other. Anyways I guess the change will take a few months to happen.
