Is looking for Sparsh DVD for tips on how to play blind

Rakshanda Khan's track in Kyunki as a girl who is losing her eyesight is keeping her on the toes. "I never realised playing a visually impaired character would be so difficult. One has to blank everything around to get in that character."

Khan is hunting for a DVD of Naseeruddin Shah's Sparsh to take notes and help her effectively play a blind character. "I have been looking all over the place, but am unable to get a copy. I think Naseer was brilliant in it. I don't want to take cues from Black because Rani is mostly wearing dark glasses in it."

Practically blind

Rakshanda wears very high powered lenses and is practically blind without them. She admits, Yes, that's true. I can't see at all without my lenses. It's tough when when I have to put glycerine in my eyes to do a crying scene.

The other day, I had a scene with Hiten and Gauri where I was standing at a distance from them and I couldn't react to them. I didn't have my lenses on, so all I could see was Hiten frantically waving his hands and doing crazy expressions!"

Rakshanda has recently joined the cast of Kaajjal, as a scheming vamp, Kamayani. "I am having a great time playing this role. She's an out and out vamp, a totally cold and ruthless character." Having played vamp before, Rakshanda isn't worried about the impact of going negative.

Doing two soaps may be tiresome, but Khan is enjoying playing the two different characters, "I am enjoying the twist in Kyunki, while in Kaajjal, I get to wear some fancy ensembles and be a total bitch!"
