Telly Talk

Rakshanda Khan seems to be so comfortable in her role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi that she hasn't really thought of taking up any other serial since the last three years. The only other thing that keeps her busy is anchoring, which she does both in the country and outside India. Blame it on the immense contentment or the fact that she plays an older character in her soap, but the girl has packed oodles of pounds in the last six months.

While this might suit the role she plays in Kyunki..., the flip side is that she hardly looks like a young lady now. For those of you who didn't know, Rakshanda is in her 30s. But after playing mommy on screen she has begun to look much older than her real age. And it is all due to those extra kilos. It is high time Rakshanda lost some of it or she might lose many young, peppy roles that might come her way.

It's despicable that people think that being chubby is some kind of cardinal sin. Rakshanda is a gorgeous woman, who carries of whatever I have seen her wear beautifully and gracefully, and as long as she faces no health risks from the increased weight, I don't see what business it is of anyone to dictate what weight someone should be at.

The problem with this society is that they seem to have a fixed idea of beauty. Thin, fair, straight hair. Does that mean that someone who is dusky, has curly hair and is slightly chubby is downright ugly??? Whoever wrote this article seems like a narrow minded, dogmatic and arrogant twat. I can't believe that these are the kind of people who wirte for our country's press. Bright future I see for the media.

being fat is not bad.being comfortable and confident about one's looks matter butin case raksandha would look prettier if she lost weight.

I have watched her compering for shows she is very fluent and charming. she has a certain kind of charisma which is not being exploited in the show i feel. I like her as an actress though.

It's not a cardinal sin ..
but being an actress - what other work does she have other than to look beautiful , maintain herself and mouth some lines?

I agree with the author.
People who appear on national TV so frequently MUST be in shape.

She plays a 45+ woman who is the mother of a grown up man.... How many women that age are perfectly stick thin, like Ganga or Nandini are? Do these two even like mothers of children who are 25+?? I don't think so... Nandini looks the same age as Bhoomi, if not younger... And Ganga looks like Nakul/Lakshya's college going friend....

And who says if you are an actor, you have to be thin? Aren't Queen Latifah, America Ferrera and Jennifer Hudson examples of successful, award winning actresses who are not the conventional stick thin...?? Whereas I can name millions of "thin" actresses who don't have half the talent the above mentioned women have in their little finger....

Acting depends more on talent, and how much you can make people empathise with your character, not how good you look in a mini skirt/halter top... Rakshanda is doing a great job with her character and that's what matters.
