Amit tandon A tribute to lost love(

We caught up with Amit Tandon who has just finished recording for the song that will release first from his debut album. The song will be a tribute to his girlfriend who passed away in 2001.

Amit says "I lost my girlfriend at the September 11th terrorist attacks. Her name was Monica. This song is my tribute to her. At first I thought that the song should be very sad but that is not what a tribute should be. I want it to be inspiring. This person made a huge impact in my life. I want to say that she may have left me but she is still a part of me. You're the reason I'm making it. You're the reason I left my family and came to India. You're the reason I'm doing whatever I'm doing right now."

Amit's album is half complete with four more songs to go. He will finish the rest of the compositions by the end of next month after which he will start shooting for the video. He is looking forward to starting in his own video and introducing himself as a singer. Describing the song and the video he says, "If you've loved and lost anyone you will love this song. It's about someone who's lost a girl he loved. There will be a picturization of girl with me and how we were in love but now she is gone. It's basically about longing for someone who is not there. We could have broken up or she could have passed anyway but that won't be shown in the video. It'll be up to the audience to decide."

Though the song is highly emotional Amit assures us that it is also uplifting:

"It's not very dreary. It is more inspiring than depressing. If people cry when they hear it that will be great; crying is good for letting out emotions, but I want them to leave smiling in the end. The words are soulful. There's a lot of guitar and the music is very base driven."

A girl for his debut video hasn't been decided on yet but Amit is looking for someone who is similar to his late girlfriend:

"I would like someone pretty. She has to be able to emote and be full of life. I want her to resemble Monica. I've been speaking to my wife about it and I told her that maybe we will seal the video with a kiss. That however will only be decided later and if my wife gives me the permission!"

Tandon is extremely excited about his upcoming album. According to him his debut song has come out outstanding and people in the studio were so impressed they asked, "Is this the same Amit Tandon from Indian Idol?"

"Dance numbers are good but they hit you and leave. These songs are very close to me; they're soulful and modern. This particular song has got a lot of Hindi, a touch of Punjabi and a touch of English. Those three languages are the themes of my album." says Amit.

Amit Tandon was a contestant on Indian Idol's first season. He is popularly known as Manthan in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
